huss, you see the new XXL? they jacked our who's next idea!

Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth and BoB - Change Gon Come

id post a link but i cant find one that works anymore. ridiculous'ness from all involved. Asher and BoB kill it.

"We've been pompous ever since Columbus couldnt work a compass,
we've accomplished what we've congered up while conscious
unconsciously we've conquered all the eye can see
constantly concocting more options, but jobs are still obsolete
its seems so odd to me, an odyssey,
how honesty is honestly the riverst thing upon us, its astonishing
how did all the honest people vanish from the planet
leaving a laundry list of problems to acknowledge"

I haven't actually seen the new issue itself, no, but I did see that there's something like 10 people they've chosen as their "Class Of 2009". Hamilton, Roth, B.o.B., Wale, Mickey Factz, Blu, Cory Gunz, Kid Cudi, Ace Hood, & Curren$y. Sounds like a pretty decent freshman class to me. I also like that there's an entire Class Of 2009 mixtape they put out, as well, even though I haven't heard it yet.

This is kinda funny, considering I just talked about hip-hop, but I'm currently listening to Protest The Hero's newest album.

808s and Heartbreak leaks, which I've found odd and disappointing. It's worth noting that my reaction to every Kanye album to date has followed the same pattern that this one likely will: first listen gets a dismissive shrug, listens two through eight slowly embrace the inherent catchiness and pick up on some kinda amusing rap in-jokes, then sometime around the ninth or tenth listen my mind gets blown and I start trumpeting the two or three best tracks as the singles of the year.

Some Jay Reatard as well after accidentally seeing two of his sets during CMJ.

Hum - 'Stars', live from their reunion show in Chicago on 1/1/09. There's a bunch more links on the page. One of my favorite bands, if I'd known this was happening, I'd have went to the Chi to see it on NYE. Sound quality of the clip is poor poor poor, though.

I recently picked up "Live at BB King's" by The Yardbirds. It's so beyond awesome. I know it's basically a cover band, since there's only two original members. But the guys they have really, really cook. The lead singer sounds a bit like Relf and wails on the harmonica.

I highly recommend it for anyone into their style of blues-rock. Here's a clip from the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQUe7XtSx3c

1 Jarvis Cocker - Further Complications
2 A place to bury strangers - Exploding head
3 Asobi Seksu - Hush... See More
4 Health - Get Color
5 PJ Harvey and John Parish - A woman a man walked by
6 Depeche Mode - Sounds of the Universe
7 Sonic Youth - The Eternal
8 Morrissey - Years of Refusal
