I was watching Royal Rumble '90 tonight for the first time since it aired live and I was 8. There's this incredibly stiff, physical submission match between Greg Valentine and Ron Garvin on it that I really dug. It got me to thinking: what's the stiffest WWF match? I'm especially curious pre-2000's where it seems a lot of guys generally worked a lighter style. Any thoughts?

Valentine vs Garvin was my first thought, and by a lot.

How did Vince even green light this match to take place? Backfist looks 10 times better than Eddie Kingston's. -------------------- ![]() |

Vince hires random Japanese wrestlers every few years.

Yes but two relatively unknown (to the fans in God's Country USA) Japanese WOMEN having a match on RAW is a bit much. How the fuck would that not make somebody change the channel?

I guess they needed somebody to look like a threat for Madusa, if she hadn't left at that time.

^ Good point, forgot they occasionally tried feuds for the womens belt. I take it somebody had to get the belt out of the trash. Nobody is going to waste a perfectly good title.
