After watching him carry that sack of shit Sekimoto to a great match in IGF, Otsuka looks primed for another top 10 finish in 2009, I guess it will really depend on how many showcase opportunities he is given. Man was he impressive in the IGF match though.

I'm halfway through the BattlArts 01/10/09 show, so has anyone seen Otsuka vs Ishikawa? It's under 8 minutes, but has great looking tight matwork, lots of struggling and some really vicious nasty looking submissions. It's one of the best matches I've seen this year and much better than the good short match they had last year.

So it's getting pretty close for the year to come to an end, so has any Otsuka footage been unearthed since his match with Sekimoto?

Grasping a straws a little, but there's about two minutes of Otsuka matwork in a six man from last months Z-1 show. Sadly, he isn't involved in much more of what aired (which was clipped also)

Otuska has a pretty awesome match against Akira Shoji on the 9/11 Real Japan show

Really stiff from both guys, Otsuka is totally badass in this, and I could see this getting him in a top 10-15

I think he was in the Dragon Fiesta show opposite maximo and some joshi chick in a tag match.

Otsuka did an awesome job selling those lowkicks, and I dug him catching the last lowkick and hooking on a leglock.

That was a fun encounter and Otsuka definitely looked good.

Otsuka is definitely making my list, as well as (of now) eight other BattlArts guys.

Who is Akira Shoji? That was a really good match, Otsuka looked great and I dug Shoji's elegant guard pass. Otsuka will probably make my top 10.

It's kind of sick how Otsuka's a struggling indy worker, while a piece of shit like Tanahashi is a maineventer in New Japan.
