Completely bizarre and total shocking final to this.
I have no real problem with anyone in the top five, even though I see Terry as a mild stretch. Still I find it absolutely bizarre that Navarro won so easily. I mean..on the one hand if KillSteve voted anywhere close to what the others voted on Panther, Panther may have over taken him. On the other hand Navarro feels like the guy who was LEAST touted as a number one level guy over the course of the year and in the months leading up to the voting. I was not wedded to Panther in the first slot and I'm still not. A part of me wishes I had went with the heart and picked Henry. Still Panther was the guy who had the most interesting combination of fun tv matches, great individual performances, fun brawls, interesting mat exchanges, sharpness against variety of opponents, et. I kept coming back to him after running down the pluses and minuses for other guys, and ultimately picked him because he was the guy who I felt the least uncertain of. That's what makes the finish so bizarre to me I guess. I expected something close and it really wasn't. Navarro ended up being a "safe" top ten pick for everyone and that was enough. |

Good work SLL.
Someone really needs to post this on the Figure Four board, now more than any other year. A Top 5 with four luchadors and Mark Henry would surely cause some amusing nerdrage. |

I don't have a proper list or anything but there was no doubt in my mind that Navarro deserved the top spot. Henry would've been right behind him.

mark henry as number 1 on the prestigious wko100 would have been beyond awesome, but 2 is still pretty nice. i watched next to no wrestling in 2011 and the same is happening in 2012, but still a cool list to read and great job to all involved.

talking about the PRESTEGIOUS wko100, it struck me that a wko magazine would be cool as hell. perfect name, already have a yearly countdown, top forum guys could be writers. never would happen but it struck me as a cool idea!

Great job as usual, SLL.
Man, people really underrated Nakamura this year. |

Aside from maybe Ishii, Nakamura's the only New Japan heavyweight who wouldn't look out of place in a 90s New Japan ring. He carries himself well, his movements, taunting etc are no longer forced, he comes across as "legit", can work the mat, doesn't mind landing on the back of his neck and, most importantly, knows how to build a match.

I'm pretty sure I only saw two matches involving Navarro last year, but he was fucking awesome in both of them. He looked like the absolute baddest motherfucker walking in that LUCHA POP match where he puts T1 back in his place.

While I ended up opting against re-running the vote, if I had re-counted it with Punk at #3 on Tim's ballot and everyone underneath him moved down a spot for a full 100, Punk would've been #2 on the final list, with the rest of the ordering being the same. If I had thrown out Tim's ballot altogether, the list would've looked like this: 1. Negro Navarro 2. Virus 3. C.M. Punk 4. Mark Henry 5. Black Terry 6. Blue Panther 7. Dick Togo 8. Yuki Ishikawa 9. Rey Mysterio 10. Trauma I 11. Sami Callihan 12. Dave Finlay 13. Daniel Bryan 14. John Cena 15. Negro Casas 16. Daisuke Ikeda 17. Dr. Cerebro 18. Jerry Lawler 19. Drew McIntyre 20. Luke Gallows 21. Bugambilia del Norte 65. Low Ki 66. Koji Kanemoto 67. Akira Tozawa 68. Yoshihito Sasaki 69. Ray Mendoza Jr. 70. Kyle Matthews 71. Oficial 911 72. Pantera 73. Shaun Tempers 74. El Generico 75. Michael Elgin 76. Mascarita Dorada 77. Louis Lyndon 78. Rocky Santana 79. El Mesias 80. Kenou 81. Jay Briscoe 82. Villano IV 83. Preston Quinn 84. Terry Funk 85. Stuka Jr. 86. Vader 87. T.J. Correctly placing five wrestlers, and placing five more within one placement of their correct spot, Dylan has the honor of having the Best Ballot of 2011, and earns the right to dictate what we will and will not like in 2012. And as we all know, there is literally no other way for people to form opinions. So we'll see where that goes, and if it doesn't crash and burn, hopefully I can do this again next year. See ya then! |

My first decree is that everyone needs to watch that Chris Hamrick carry job of the Nitro scrub. I will periodically post edicts as the year goes on.
