When Cassie first became Wonder Girl, she did so with the help of ‘borrowed’ artefacts from Wonder Woman, more specifically the super strength from the Gauntlet of Atlantis and gaining flight and speed from the Sandals of Hermes. She was also trained in unarmed combat, by Artemis the one time Wonder Woman stand in. She then by opportunity was able to meet Zeus who she boldly requested powers off. Zeus granted her this, and gave her the powers very much the same as the ones she possessed when in possession of the artefacts. However these powers came with a ‘catch’ Cassie’s mother, Helena could cancel Cassie’s powers whenever she wished. Her mother has yet to do this. When she joined the Teen Titans, she was granted the lasso by Ares the God of War. This lasso gave Cassie the ability to manipulate electricity through it’s fibres. She also has a suit of armour similar to Wonder Woman’s with a shield and sword.

WHAT MAKES THEM TICK?

Cassie is a precocious, clever and outgoing young girl. She loves being a super heroine and wouldn't give it up for anything. Growing up with her single mother, Cassie was raised to be independent and mature, and she’s proven it on many occasions when she’s taken on a leadership role in Young Justice or Teen Titans. She is very driven and makes for a natural leader.

Cassie is stable and dedicated. She loves her friends and is quick to act when they are in trouble, and she will be one of the first to be by their side. Before she was even Wonder Girl, she rushed to help Wonder Woman fight, borrowing tools to give herself powers. When any of her friends are in trouble, she stands by them, emotionally or physically –wherever she’s needed most. Both as an individual and as a Titan, her friends are what matter most, and she won’t rest until they are safe.

Her status as Wonder Girl is sometimes questioned, as many people preferred Donna Troy to her, but she works around it best she can. Sometimes she has moments of insecurity over it, but she recognizes that the people who see her that way don’t really know her, and don’t understand that she regrets the bad things that have happened, and her “mistakes”, just as much as they do. This keeps Cassie going, and she doesn’t let this stop her.

She can be pretty feisty and bold, and at times she can be driven to talk back to authority. Cassie doesn't like to be cowed or bossed around, and when pushed to it she isn’t afraid to speak or mind or make requests. When she knows what she wants, she’s willing to ask for it.

Despite her generally sweet and caring attitude, Cassie deals with loss poorly, and grief can make her bitter and violent. Her lasso, a gift from her Ares, the god of war, is fuelled by anger, and harnesses the power of lightning, so she can call on anger rather easily.

HISTORY:

Cassandra Sandsmark spent the majority raised by her mother. She had a normal childhood for the most part, nothing to horribly thematic just the absence of her father it had however always been this way, so it never really plagued Cassie. Her mother Helena, by chance began working with Wonder Woman and thus Cassie’s idolization of superhero Wonder Girl (Donna Troy ) began, even though her mother objected strongly Cassie still persisted with her idolisation even going as far as donning a black wig with hideously oversized goggles to appear more like her idol.

When Wonder Woman was dangerously close to being defeated by a clone of Doomsdays, Cassie acted on impulse and ‘borrowed’ Wonder Woman’s unused artefacts, The Sandals of Hermes and The Gauntlet of Atlas helping defeat the Villain. Cassie then continued assisting Wonder Woman with the help of the borrowed artefacts. When the opportunity to speak with the God Zeus arose, Cassie didn’t hesitate for a moment, requesting that the God grant her with actual super powers, Zeus impressed by the young Cassie’s willpower and courage granted Cassie her request. However there was a loophole, Cassie’s mother Helena had the power to strip Cassie of her abilities whenever she wishes.

Shortly after this, Cassie officially accepted the title of Wonder Girl, training with Artemis, Donna Troy the previous Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman. Finding herself deeper and deeper in the world of Superheroes, Cassie was assaulted by the villain Harm. Not long after this event she was recruited by Robin, Superboy and Bart Allen into a group of young teenage superheroes known as Young Justice. Still struggling to make her mark as a crime fighter, it was during her years as part of Young Justice that Cassie really came to trust herself, she’d always had the confidence there but that was hidden behind a lot of self doubt. Making many close friends with the fellow heroes of Young Justice, she shares a close friendship with Cissie (Arrowette) and Greta (Secret) although Cassie was a little jealous and apprehensive of the pretty blonde haired Cissie at first.
