i pulled into nazareth, was feeling 'bout half past dead
just need to find a place where i can lay my head

God, if there was one thing that Sebastian loved more than anything else about Beauxbatons, it was the food. Sure, he loved his mom and all—of course he did—but there was absolutely, positively nothing that could compare to the food at Beauxbatons, and, besides, his mother could hardly be considered domestic. Her bouillabaisse tasted more like…well, Sebastian wasn’t exactly sure what it tasted like, but it certainly wasn’t normal. So, when he was at Beauxbatons, he tended to eat way more than he did when he was at home. You’d never tell it from the way he looked, though—he was still as skinny as ever, almost worryingly so (he never sat still, which was part of the reason; he burned so many calories just being awake). It was no surprise to see him walking down to the kitchens at any hour of the day; he liked going down to the basement every now and then, and there was always someone interesting to talk to—even at one in the morning—it seemed like the basements attracted them.

What was surprising, however, was to see him going down alone. Seb wasn’t the type of person to do things alone; he always liked to be around people so that he wasn’t stuck with himself. He was a social person by nature, and if he didn’t have someone to talk to and amuse himself with, he tended to get a bit strange. Right now, for instance, he wasn’t just walking down the hallway—that was too boring. So, instead, he was half-dancing down the hallway, humming to himself softly. He looked like a complete idiot, of course, but the students at Beauxbatons were probably used to it by now. Sebastian generally did look like an idiot by himself; he just wasn’t the type of person that functioned well on his own. The students from Hogwarts and Durmstrang, on the other hand, would probably think he was actually insane if they saw him, but he didn’t mind. He was used to it, after all, and he’d decided at a young age that it was better to not worry about people think.

Even though he was dancing down the hallways and, yeah, it was fun, it was amazing how long the walk from the third floor to the fourth could be when he had no one to talk to. He stopped and frowned, wishing that he’d had the foresight to wake one of his dorm mates up before he’d left. He hadn’t, though—foresight wasn’t one of his strong suits, to say the least—and now he was almost considering going back up just to keep this silence from driving himself insane. He stopped dead in the hallway, turned back towards the stairs, then changed his mind and turned back—it wasn’t worth it. All Seb really wanted was a snack, and after he’d gotten that he’d just go back up again and go to sleep. Loitering in the kitchens at this time at night wasn’t exactly the best idea anyway. After all, who knew when some noisy prefect would come around and kick him out or give him detention or something? Seb didn’t mind detention all that much, but it certainly wasn’t his idea of fun. He started walking down the hallway again, this time singing as he sashayed.

    Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome
    Fremde, etranger, stranger…

He stopped short as he reached the kitchen doors, peeking inside before walking in. There didn’t even seem to be anyone here, which was just a bit disheartening. He sighed and frowned again as he wandered over to the cupboards, trying to decide what it was that he wanted to eat. It probably would have been better if he had figured this out before he had decided to come down to the kitchens. It wasn’t long before his short attention span got the better of him and he switched cupboards, closing one door and opening the one next to it. Finally, he just gave up altogether and grabbed an apple and sat down on the floor in front of the cupboards. His left foot moved from one side to the other idly as he ate his apple, altogether bored with the situation and his apple already. He really had expected someone else to be here—there had always been someone here before, no matter what odd hour he came.

It was just his luck that tonight would be the night that no-one was there. Seb wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself after he finished his apple, so he decided to take his time, sighing softly. He was so caught up in his food that he didn’t notice the door to the kitchen opening—maybe he wouldn’t have to go straight back to the dorms after all.

It was odd for Belle to be awake at this time of the night...or early morning. She was a girl that loved and needed her sleep if she did not a foul temper would soon follow a sleepless night. Belle was very much unlike her sister in that sense, where Pierrette hated sleeping - thought it wasted precious time - Belle loved it but then again the girl loved to do nothing. She wasn't lazy just laid back to the point of being a down right slob. Something her mother enjoyed pointing out whenever she was around just nagging, always nagging the woman never shut up. Belle did love her mother in a sense, but the two just didn't get along never have, never will and it wasn't like Belle hadn't tried either. Many times she had tried impressing her parents her grades weren't bad actually they where rather good unlike her sisters but it was her lifestyle choices that seemed to bother her parents, Belle's constant disregard for what her family stood for. Ever since she was young she had this intense fascination with the muggle world everything they had was so much more amazing then what she had. Most of all it was the music.

Wandering aimlessly through the schools corridors Belle hummed to herself with no idea where she was heading. Without a goal ha, something her parents also said about her 'she has no drive, no direction.' or at least not the directions they wanted. Running a hand through her knotted blonde hair her stomach let out a small grumble and she patted it thoughtfully changing her direction to the kitchens. While she was up she may as well feed herself.

She had never really realized how eerily quiet the castle was a night, it was creepy. Letting out a shudder Belle glanced around the halls. Maybe she should of woke up Pie to keep her company but the girl was sleeping which was a rarity for her besides what use would she be wandering through the halls at night? The girl was deathly afraid of the dark something the two had in common. Belle more out of convincing herself about all the dangers that lurked in the dark, uh she read way too many muggle horror stories.

The halls where so quiet and this was confusing to Belle, normally if she was out wandering she would run into many people, midnight snoggers, people sneaking back to their dorms late or just people like her wandering aimlessly. Pursing her lips together she adjusted her slipping pajama pants to sit back on her waist pausing outside the kitchen and pressing her ear against the door to see if she could hear anyone inside, the last thing she wanted was to get in trouble. The girl had an odd fright of getting into trouble, probably because it seemed to happen so often.

Not hearing a sound she opened the door and peered in before bouncing in with such triumphant gusto that she jumped back in fright and let out a small squeal when she saw Sebastian. "Sebastian! Je n'ai pas de vous y voir" giving him a lop sided grin and a wave in greeting she walked over to the kitchen pantry opening it an examining the contents. Biting her bottom lip she picked out a chocolate bar and moved back towards him, opening it and breaking off a piece "Why are you out so late?" At least she wasn't alone now.

*I did not see you there

If someone didn’t come in soon, Sebastian was really going to do something completely out of character. It really was sickening—every now and then he wished that he could just sleep like normal people. Insomnia just wasn’t a good thing for a person that thrived around people like he did. He sighed again, taking another bite of his apple and chewing slowly. He almost fell asleep leaning against the cupboard, only catching himself when his head hit against the wood. Unfortunately, this also happened to be the moment that someone decided to walk in the door. That someone also decided to squeal. Seb was taken completely by surprise—he had almost been asleep, after all. Of course he decided to fall asleep at the most inopportune times; it wouldn’t make sense for him to fall asleep when he was actually in bed. That would be too convenient, and anyone who knew Seb knew that he wasn’t exactly one for convenience.

The shock of actually being interrupted (finally) brought him to his feet. Unfortunately, he was 6’2”—and even if he had been 5’2”, that still would have been a problem. He hadn’t closed the cupboard door when he’d decided to sit down, and he happened to be sitting right under the open door. He hit his head on the corner of the door, immediately ducking out from under it, holding his hand to his head and jumping around like it was his foot that he’d hurt. No one would ever accuse Sebastian of being subtle; that much was certain. A long string of curses escaped his mouth before he remembered that there was someone else in the room and stopped hopping around, instead smiling sheepishly, still holding his hand against his head. The only thing he could hope for at this point was that the person wasn’t from Hogwarts or Durmstrang—at least a Beauxbatons students would be somewhat used to his insanity.

His smile widened into a grin when he saw who it was—Belle. If he’d had to choose one person to witness that, Belle probably would have been somewhere on that list. He’d know her for…two years now, he thought it was. Pierre had introduced her to him after they’d met. “Belle!” he exclaimed, tossing his apple in a nearby trash bin. “I didn’t….um, I didn’t see you either,” he added, stating the obvious. “Sorry about that,” he apologized, waving his hand around vaguely to indicate ‘that.’ “I…um, yeah.” He shrugged. “Anyway, I’m out so late because I’m an insomniac every now and then, and tonight happens to be one of those nights. I wanted food, I guess, so I came down here. There wasn’t much else I could think of to do, either, so that helped. But the real question is, what are you doing here? I thought you liked your beauty sleep!” he teased.

“’Scuse me a sec,” he said, turning his back to him and rifling around in the cupboards once again before pulling out a cookie from a jar he just happened to find. “Apples are never as filling as you think they will be when you decide eat one.” Actually, he was plenty full—it was just that Belle and her chocolate had reminded her that he really, really wanted some chocolate at the moment. “Does that make the least bit of sense, or is the late night finally going to my head?” That was more of a rhetorical question, considering that Seb never really made sense.

Belle raised an amused brow at Sebastian as he jumped around the room. Pushing herself up onto the counter top she popped a piece of chocolate in her mouth and gave him a grin when he smiled sheepishly at her. One thing about the Beauxbatons students was that they all seemed to a little eccentric with their quirks and habits the never did quite make sense to anyway. That was the way Belle liked it to, people knew her but the didn't know anything about her just the basic facts she didn't like sharing all the gritty details about herself with people. It was unnecessary and no fun at all, what is an interesting person if they don't have some mystery surrounding them?

Laughing at his comment Belle shook her head taking another piece of chocolate, "No need to apologize, I shouldn't of squealed like a loony." Giving him a small shrug her eyes wandered around the room. She was glad for the company, Belle really hated being alone even if she was just sitting in silence she would prefer to be sitting in silence doing nothing with someone else. She had always hated being alone maybe it was because she was a twin and she had almost always had someone by her side since birth. Except when Pierrette went through her snobby stage during their early teen years, Belle had been some what of a loner then, obsessing over her guitar it was those years at Beauxbatons that she never did come out of her shell with out her twin by her side. It was an odd thing to say that she kind of depended on her sister.

"I couldn't really sleep either, which is rare for me I practically sleep my life away." She snorted (how classy) at his comment about her 'beauty sleep' something that didn't interest this Delacour in the least was beauty. The girl had a signature unkempt look about her, with her unbrushed long blonde hair that Pierrette constantly told her to take care of. Really looking at Sebastian now the boy had prettier hair then her it was amusing. Right down to her clothes Belle seemed to scream 'tom boy' a label that she hated but could never escape as long as she acted this way. Besides she had been this way for too long to ever change.

Her eyes wide as he rambled on Belle titled her head to the side and grinned "If I really want an apple I eat them in the morning....they seem to work the same way as coffee for me, which is a good thing." replying to him with an equally odd answer the young French girl tucked her hair behind her ears and swung her legs back and forth in front of her making a sort of rhythmic beat when her feet hit the wood draws under the countertop. "And no that didn't make any sense to me at all, but that doesn't matter. Late night rants during periods of sleepless delirium are lovely and amusing." Belle loved rants of all sorts, she loved conversations with no point either, like this meeting with Sebastian it had no point but she could tell she would enjoy herself.

Seb took another bite of his cookie and shrugged again at Belle’s comment. “If I wasn’t a loony and just looked up like normal people, it’d be okay too.” But, really, who wanted to be normal? It was just plain boring—normal people never had any fun, as far as he was concerned. If he had just stood up normally, he’d probably be half asleep, and that was never interesting anyway. “But whatever. Those brain cells probably weren’t being used anyway,” he said, grinning. “Pretty sure I’ve hit my head more times than I can count.” That much was probably true—as well as he could dance when he wanted to, and however many lessons he had taken, he was still one of the clumsiest people around when he wasn’t on a stage. His biggest problem was that he just didn’t pay attention. He didn’t usually trip or anything like that, but he did have a rather strange tendency to run into things.

That was one of the problems of having the attention span of half of a goldfish. He just didn’t like having to pay attention things was all. It required too much, well, attention. Seb just wasn’t the type of person to dedicate himself to things; it didn’t really matter whether that thing was looking where he was going or something more serious. The only thing he’d ever taken seriously was something that wasn’t really meant to be taken seriously. It wasn’t in his system, to be perfectly honest. He stopped babbling long enough to hear what it was that Belle had said before starting once again. “I know what you mean. Sometimes I can sleep really well, and then other nights it’s just like my body decides that it doesn’t want me to have any sleep at all, and I have to find some other thing to do at night.” It seemed to be happening more and more often, lately, but he never had much of an explanation for it.

“Lucky! The only thing that works the same way as coffee for me is…” He paused for a moment, attempting to think of something and unable to do so. “Coffee, I guess.” Seb wasn’t entirely sure what he’d do without his coffee in the morning; suffice to say that mornings were not the best time of day for him. “I’m practically dependent on it.” He couldn’t help but laugh at her next comment; at least she was honest. That was one of the things he always liked about Belle—she wasn’t going to lie to him. If he asked for the truth about something, she’d give it to him. “That’s good—I think if it had made sense to you, I’d be a bit worried. I have no idea what that was supposed to mean. I guess that’s what happens when you haven’t gotten any sleep in a week.”

Okay, so maybe it hadn’t been quite a week—yet. It had been a good four days, though, and four days did round up to a week. It was close enough, in Sebastian’s mind. Besides, it felt like a week, and that was what mattered, right? Not being able to sleep—while it was certainly interesting, to a certain extent—wasn’t exactly Seb’s idea of fun. Talking to Belle, however, was definitely included in that definition, so maybe this night wouldn’t turn out as badly as it had started, if he had any luck.

"Well if you had just looked up 'normally' as you put it, I wouldn't of been amused by your lovely antics before" Giving him a crooked smile she popped the rest of the chocolate in her mouth savoring the flavor for a moment. Sebastian’s comments always seemed to make her crack a smile or let out one of those idiotic laughs that she did. "Oh your like me, I don't know what happened but grace just seemed to skip me. See all my siblings now they have class but me." Puffing out her chest proudly she shook her head and beamed "I'm clumsy, it's much more fun that way and besides you do use less then half your brain anyway." That was directed at Seb, it was just a random fact that she had read in one of the muggle science books. The things they came up with pure genius.

The comment about Belle's lack of grace was true as well. The girl was a walking injury she had a habit of falling over at the most impromptu moments. A few summers ago the Delacour family had been celebrating a distant cousins wedding and Belle plus her twin may have snuck a bit too much firewhisky resulting in an extra clumsy Belle followed by a ruined wedding cake. Oh the joys of being the family rebel. It was as if Belle was born to defy everything her family stood for it actually gave her a sense of purpose, after the only other goal she had in her life was to play guitar. She wasn't ambitious not even the slightest when it came to 'growing up' and it wasn't as if she immature either she just enjoyed living in the moment. She hated problems and drama but some how they seemed to follow her.

"Yeah well there is normally plenty to do around here at night, but lately everything has been so....dull" Belle said pursing her lips. Maybe dull wasn't the right word because with all these new students around things where certainly unusual not like Belle went out of her way to make friends her attempts had been less then positive. With that Cruger girl holding some grudge against Belle and her sister, the female was deranged and creepy. "If it had made sense to me we could safely assume that I have lost my sanity. Wow a week, maybe you and Pie should hang out....she never sleeps thinks it's a waste of time" Shaking her head Belle smiled fondly muttering "crazy hippy" both the Delacour twins were odd, Pierrette in a totally different sense to Belle though.

If there was one thing Belle could have said to make him feel less embarrassed (not that he ever felt particularly embarrassed), that was most certainly it. Sebastian honestly didn’t care what other people thought of his actions—as long as they found them somewhat entertaining. His one goal in life was to be an entertainer, after all. He didn’t think of himself as too good to make a fool of himself every now and then, as long as it made people happy. Besides, if it made other people happy, it didn’t take much else to make him happy; he was a pretty low-maintenance kind of guy. He laughed a little. “Well then, by all means,” he said, grinning and gesturing extravagantly. “I can take the pain.” Anyone who knew Sebastian for any period of time could generally tell that coherence just wasn’t his strong point. As far as he was concerned, making sense was boring.

“Pfft, join the club,” he said, responding to Belle’s comment about gracefulness. “You’d think god knows how many years of dance lessons would have instilled some sort of grace in me, but no luck. My parents think I have some sort of inner-ear problem, or something.” He never had any problems while he was dancing, but as soon as he stopped, he was just an accident waiting to happen. “You have no idea how glad I am to hear that.” he added, grinning. “Even that might be a problem for me, though; you have no idea how many times I’ve hit my head on things. I might have already lost the half that’s not used.” For some reason, it had always seemed that Seb’s head was the most vulnerable part of his body. It was always the place where he was hit before anywhere else.

“I know exactly what you mean,” he said, “Which makes absolutely no sense considering that there are three times as many people here as there usually are. You’d think that there’d be three times as much excitement, but apparently not. I have no idea what these people do at Durmstrang or Hogwarts, but apparently it isn’t all that exciting.” It really didn’t make the least bit of sense to Sebastian; he’d always thought that more people would mean more fun, but apparently not. “And half of them are stuck-up pureblood jerks, no offence meant. He didn’t think Belle would take any, but you never knew. “They’re jerks.” He tried not to let things like that get to him, but it was quite a bit harder now that there were so many more people around that believed it. He’d never quite understood how much more accepting Beauxbatons was—even if there were still people that were pretty bad. “It might be a waste of time, but after a week or whatever, you kind of start thinking it’s a necessary one,” he admitted. “I think that makes sense.”
