Just a casual glance on one rather dull looking publication called: "Tiede ja Ase, Suomen Sotatieteellisen seuran vuosijulkaisu N:o 52 1994" (a annual publication of Finnish society of military sciences from 1994) revealed an intresting article over the devolpment of the Finnish Hämeenmaa class minelayers from late 80's. Thougth normally focusing on the shipyard bancrubcy and following legal dificoulties to build the vessels they also included a linedrawing of the intial Navy's order from the yard. (presented as my drawing) This desing was apparently what the fleet wanted as "simplified and operationally functional" version of the Pohjanmaa class minelayer/schoolship without any secondary purpose features. The requirments later changed for more multipurpose desing thus the desing changed accordingly to the one the two ships were eventually build. |

An interesting design study, and worthily rendered. I notice just how few never builts and own designs there are in comparison with AU.

well most of Novgorod's stuff are for example neverwheres with some artistic liberties.
At some point when Im bored and no other reason for redo that stuff for Novgorod, I can turn them into proper never-wheres. As for Finnish never wheres, they simply don't exist that extend. |

There must be a fine line to good - i.e. realistic own designs, and some of the never built projects. When I'm through with doing real life I'd like to have another crack at that.
Glad to hear you've got some cooking Thiel - btw, I'm putting the final touches to the first Hunt class :) |
