Ahoy Shipmates

While trawling through my stuff looking for a particular drawing I realised that I have drawings/scans that I'm not likely to be using for a while (like when L.P. is pushing me around the park :P ). If it is o.k. with our esteemed and wise officers I'd like to begin a thread on which I (and anyone else interested) can post some of these. I would suggest that anything posted would be suitable for either a drawing, or the basis for one (with added input from further research).

Of course, posting such material would assume no further interest in that ship for oneself. And who knows, we may get some interesting new ships in real-life? I'd like a suggestion where to post the thread - in which section. I'll wait for a response.

P.B. :)

Actually I'm thinking that perhaps we should rename the "request" forum for source/reference/request and other misc. thread. Then the idea of Bill would properly be suited for there?

That sounds like a good idea, in my short time on this site I think the number of members who will actually produce drawings has increased some. I would recommed creating a separate References forum or imagery cache, though it could quickly get unmanageable.

Golly, a while back you were looking for a decent Bismarck line drawing. I know where you can get one, but you'll have to spend some $$$:

http://books.google.com/books?id=TAyRtKKRR...9-1&output=html

I own this book, and it has folding illustrations of the Scharnhorst, Bismarck, H-Class Battleships, the Vittorio Venetto classes from Italy and the Yamato. The drawings are big, so you'll need a big scanner.

This book was money well spent long before I started drawing here.

Ack, I dont want to pay stuff over internet :o  :o

Anyway, the imperial Russian fleet seems to lure me so that the brismarc project appears to be delayed atleast for this spring...

But what do you mean unmanagble?
For my opinion, I think more slack and easier tension forum for sharing ship pictures would do good actually. Its not like the strick protocol type request procedure has brougth us any good stream of bespoke works.

Unmanageable meaning you could end up with too many images to organize. I guess if it stayed in a forum like "Requests" it would be workable.

blah, organisation is for facsist, Bring the anarchy of overfload of pictures! Those who dare can navigate it and pick what they like. ;)

But you got the point. Perhaps if some inviduals want to start uploading their vaults into the request forum, i can give it patronage to survive...

So far it sounds as though this will go ahead. I will commence the thread tonight in the request forum. it's not that I've got the 'crown jewels' - just that there may be something someone could use. Watch that space ;)

I'm all for it. There's got to be more artists out there than the ones who regularly post their work.
