Hello everyone,
This afternoon I was kitbashing around a bit due pure boredom. At first I thought of an alternative FREMM design for the export market, but somehow I ended up with an upgraded Type 45 Daring class (maybe from watching all that Top Gear). Anyway the result is this: (Posted Image) I call it the ''Daring Class Batch II'', how very original... It is an enlarged version of the original design with a more covered superstructure to enhance stealth and I fitted a second VLS on here port-side (the only resemblance to the FREMM) to give it the capability to carry more missiles. The ship is equipped with a 48 cell SYLVER missile launcher carrieng 32 Aster-30 missiles and 16 Tomahawk cruise missiles. At port side there is another 24 cell VLS equipped with 24 Aster-15 missiles. The harpoons where integraded into the superstructure and fitted as standard. Further more a BAE 155mm gun, 2 Goalkeepers, some machine guns and torpedo's. Hangar unchanged, 1 Merlin/Lynx. I know there have been many Type 45 conversions and mine is probably some cheap rip-off (although I came up with it myself) of one off MihoshiK's designs, but I still wanted to share it with you guys ;) |

I think this looks pretty good but I think sacrificing hangar space for an aft Aster VLS might be a poor tradeoff. I'm the hangar would suffer as there is only so much beam to play with and the VLS would take up the port side.
Even so its a nice drawing. |

would agree with hood over aft VLS. Except they go back to the concept of RFA's carrying the group helecopters as was envisaged for the Fort Victoria class.

Well, he does say port side VLS, so technically is only replacing the post boat bay with it. I'm not 100% convinced the width could cope with this but we'll take his word. However, this might mean the ship is rather unbalanced, especially at high speed.

is tomahawk compatible with Sylver? Scalpe would be an alternate.

True, but there was a study about tomahawks that would be capable of being launched from the Type 45, I don't know whether is was replaced by a Mk41 or not. About the secondary VLS, you would have to think it as the same configuration on the FREMMs:
