Would it be possible/effective to have spaced armor on a battleship?

No plausible amount of armor can protect a ship against the missiles that could easily be arrayed against it. Even if the ship's structure could be protected, radars and other combat systems cannot be armored by their very nature, and their casual elimination would render an arbitrarily-well-armored ship a very expensive steel iceberg.

Not particularly. There is definitely a purpose to a decapping plate, but that's about it.

ezgo: You can protect your ship from a gutshot all you want, but if they poke your eyes out or lop off your arm, it's just as good as a straight away sinking.
