early november (1-8) all over the isles the rain is getting colder, the highlands are buried under several feet of snow, and as if that wasn't bad enough... beware the wind! it's frigid and out to bite.
Do NOT create an account until you have been accepted. To be accepted, fill out the given template, post your application with the appropriate title and description, and wait for the admin to inform you of your acceptance, denial, or deferral. Further instruction will be provided in the event that the application is deferred. If this is still unclear, see our helpful application guidelines, posted HERE.

Likewise, you may not begin role-playing until you have established an accepted character. Once you have been accepted, create your user account with your character's first and last name, as you would normally type it (ex: Sirius Black). Unlike proboards, invisionfree names CANNOT be changed, except by the admin, and I’m not that nice. Accounts must be validated by the admin before you can begin any serious board activity, and that must be done manually – so please be patient.

Show some LITERACY. It is not a requirement that you be 100% literate all the time, (Trust us, we won't be.) but that is not an excuse for you to use chatspeak, one-liners, or any other form of miserable writing (i. e., lack of punctuation) in your posts. Occasional spelling and grammar mistakes are acceptable. It is in your best interests to display adequate control in your writing.

If you are going on vacation, or simply going to be absent for an extent of time you must let me, and your fellow role-players know in the Announcements forum. We're not asking that you tell us where you're going, and why, and every little fact there is to know about your mother's sister's uncle -- only that you have the courtesy to tell people if you're going to be disappearing for a few days. If you happen to vanish for more than a month without reason, notification, or any bad excuse -- your accounts will be deleted.

Power-playing and god-moding (i.e. power-playing is attempting to control someone else's character, not including your own, whereas god-moding is making your character invincible, or immune to any type of attack) are ILLEGAL. Unless you have permission from the person you are roleplaying with, you may not write anything from the point of view of their character. Likewise, your character is NOT exempt from attacks or action, do not pretend that this is true. Be realistic -- magic has its limits!

This is a mature roleplay forum. That means that sexual themes, crude language, drugs, and alcohol may (and will, without a doubt) be present. If you have problems with any of these, do not apply. You have been warned, and by applying give your consent that you are okay with these themes, though it is not required that you participate in any of them.
If you don't follow these rules, there will be severe repercussions. You may be suspended, or even have your accounts deleted.
That's all (for now)! Thank you!

For anyone who is interested, canon characters are about four times as likely to be accepted as originals are on this site. If you still feel the need to apply as an original, just realise that it had better be a good character... or don't bother. EDIT I am no longer accepting original characters for first-time applicants. If you would like an original on this site, you must apply for a canon, establish yourself, and then apply.

For all newly applying members... this site's government is an absolutist monarchy, which occasionally slips into something of a totalitarian dictatorship. Obey me, and my rules, and there will be no problems.

To be honest, I’m looking for creative, imaginative individuals who want to improve their writing and have fun devising new plots within a basic timeline. Your don’t have to be the best writer, and you don’t have to know your character like the back of your hand. You do, however, need to be able to improve. If you don’t think you can, or think you’re above it – don’t bother applying.

I AM one of those snarky, not polite, not generous, impolitic, cruel and viciously self-centered egotist admins who doesn't really give a damn about anyone but myself and my current members. Yes, this lovingly affectionate courtesy will be extended to you once you're accepted, but before then -- don't expect it. Optimism is gagged at, and civility is unlikely. If you have a problem with this, DON'T BOTHER APPLYING.
