early december all over the isles the rain is getting colder, the highlands are buried under several feet of snow, and as if that wasn't bad enough... beware the wind! it's frigid and out to bite.

Domhnall & Fiona
I don’t really have much to say on behalf of the ‘grandparents’. Domhnall was the quiet, but severe type who operated his family with a strong, but respected hand. No one questioned him; everything he did was for his family; and he expected decency and honour from all of them. Fiona was much more vivacious than he was, in a pushy, demanding way. She expected all of her boys to get married, have five kids each, and then make those kids have kids. The continuation of the McKinnon line was her one and only goal.
Alistair & Lowri
Uhmm… if you don’t know them by now, you’re silly. Unless you didn’t know that Alistair is the chief of the McKinnon clan, obviously, and therefore the ‘Lord’ of Skye.
Marlene
Ditto.
Iain & Seona
Iain was a very active, political figure in Scottish politics, particularly on the isle of Skye, where the McKinnons live. Though Alistair’s in charge, he’s also one of the prominent founders of the Order of the Phoenix, and therefore incredibly busy, so Iain is the one who took charge of local (town) affairs, while helping the Order. He’s firm, and devoted to his family. Seona, likewise, has a very strong personality. She’s not noisy like the rest of the clan, not being a natural-born McKinnon, but she’s still very firm in her decisions, and has generally taken over the leadership of the women’s side of the family, despite that position technically belonging to Lowri. She’s a badass.
Blair & Gavin
Blair is slightly rebellious, but beautiful, and knows it. She’s proud of being Scottish, and doesn’t really recognise anything else, but doesn’t stand by and let people tell her what to do – even Alistair, though they’re incredibly close. She was the first-born of the second generation of McKinnons, so Alistair spoils her like she’s his own daughter, and in relation to Marlene, they behave like siblings – in the sense that they hate one another at face value, but love each other underneath it all. Blair is a bit of a mini-Fiona, and hates Lowri with a passion… just like Fiona did. She likes to cause problems for her.
Gavin is the perfect Scottish man. He won half-a-dozen Highland Games to get Blair to marry him, and has no problem proving himself. He’s loud and rambunctious when the need arises, and fits right in with the McKinnons. Gavin is not the man you want to physically threaten. He’s solely concerned with his family – the MacGregor-McKinnons – and little else. (Think Tiernan, but Scottish and not quite so wishy-washy when it comes to dealing with his wife.)
Irene, Rhona & Arran
The girls are more feminine than Marlene, but could still kick just about any English boy’s arse. Arran refuses to wear anything that isn’t a kilt, like his father.
Stuart & Isabeal
Stuart’s irrelevant. He’s dead. Well, I play him, so it doesn’t matter. And nobody plays Isabeal, so … all you need to know is that she was pregnant when Stuart was murdered.
Moyna, Cailean & Tam
Moyna is Marlene’s age, and they never speak to each other. Moyna’s a bit of a girly-girl, and Cailean’s too young to be important. Tam… well, you’ve met Tam. He’s rowdy and insane and—I meant was. He’s dead, too.
Barclay & Mairi
Barclay, youngest of the McKinnon brothers, was always the peacemaker. Despite having the same loud, noisy, rough and tumble upbringing as the others, he was still inclined to step away from the spotlight, and he was happy to let Alistair and Iain take up the more powerful positions in the local government. Instead, his capacity for calm decision making and an understanding demeanor led him into the legal field, first as an advocat and eventually as Skye's main judge. While he puts in many hours to make sure that cases are seen to, Barclay's main focus is his wife and three children, and he considers being a good husband and father his primary occupation.
Mairi, like her husband, is very out of place in what’s considered ‘typically McKinnon’, but they’re still a beloved aspect of the family. They’re both passionate – in Mairi’s case, about being a mother – and live for the family. Regardless, she’s shy and quiet and gentle.
Lindsay, Douglas & Kenna
Are their (boy, boy, girl) kids. That is all.
Aileen
Hates people, loves animal. Turned her room into a forest when she was in school, and never actually graduated from Hogwarts. She dropped out mid-way though her seventh year because she refused to pay attention to anything except Care of Magical Creatures, and was too busy playing with baby animals when she should have been doing schoolwork. She’s also dead, which is unfortunate, because all three of her brothers were madly protective of her.
