Long centuries ago the Gods dwelt on Earth. They commanded their mighty magics and called their chosen people to their sides, creating mighty empires that spread out across the surface of the Earth, each ruling in their own era. For awhile each of the Mighty Gods was content with their Earthly Empire, but one by one they slowly lost interest. Earth, even with it's varied peoples, simply couldn't hold their attention.

As their interest waned, one by one the Old Gods abandoned Earth and their Empires faded and crumbled leaving behind only Myth, Legend, and the ruins and artifacts that have so enriched our histories. But the Old Gods did not simply vanish into obscurity.

Each and every one of the Gods sung about in Earth's Mythologies was driven to seek out a new world, one that held the excitement they had been unable to maintain on Earth. They were successful in their search, each setting their sights on a planet that held an abundance not only of varied peoples, but of magical power as well. Each God was thrilled to find the exact object of their wildest dreams! Imagine their horror and disappointment when they realized each and every one of their fellows who had once inhabited the Earth had made the same discovery, and each and every one had the same wish; to command the full power of all the world's people and magic.

Terrible was the war they wrought upon each other, each faction set against all the others with no less than absolute victory their only goal. Alliances were made and broken. But in the end no one faction could win out above all the others. In their immortal power, the Gods found themselves equals, unable to slay the armies of their enemies, unable to claim the greatest treasure that ever they had beheld.

And so the Old Gods of Earth turned their eyes on this new planet, dividing amongst themselves the people, drawing as many as they could to their worship and rebuilding their empires of old. A new war was about to begin, fought not by the Gods themselves but by the worshipers they ensnared.

Welcome to Lands of Myth and Magic, a world of danger and excitement in which the myths of old come to life once again. Kingdoms ruled by different Gods stand on the verge of war, alliances, betrayals and secret plots run rampant. Heathens that refuse to answer to any one God roam the lands stirring up trouble. No one can be certain what the next day will bring. There is adventure to be found for any who go in search of it!
The Rules:

1) Respect! Please respect other players, please respect the Staff/GMs! Everyone is welcome in Lands of Myth and Magic. If you have an outside problem with someone I ask that you please leave it at the door when you enter. The goal here is for everyone to have FUN!

2) No Godmoding! Lands of Myth and Magic defines Godmoding as any In Character (IC) action that puts another player at an unfair disadvantage and/or seizes control of a character that does not belong to the player making the action. Only a character’s creator can declare their character dead! There will be no forced PC deaths in Lands of Myth and Magic!

3) Plagiarism will not be tolerated. All characters must be originals.

4) Please post a character bio for all characters you wish to make PCs. For more information please read the rules for character creation. Please submit your character in the folder for the section to which you wish them to belong (EG: Norse characters are submitted in the Norse section). Character bios for PCs require approval for continuous play; however, you can begin playing a character while awaiting approval (GMs will try to be prompt). Play testing of a character before writing a bio is welcome. Once a character is approved for the section to which they belong, they are not limited to play in that section only. Characters may travel between the sections. Character approval for the home section stands for all sections of play.

5) Lands of Myth and Magic has a PG 13 rating. Swearing, within moderation, is fine. Due to the PG 13 rating and the terms of service for Invision boards, scenes of sexually explicit nature are not allowed to be posted on the boards. Please use good judgment when it comes to blood and gore; if you aren't sure, post a warning as a subtitle to the thread title.

6) No Spamming and no Flooding. Only regulars have standing permission to share links.

Discipline:
I'm a big fan of the Three Strikes System when it comes to rule breaking. You will receive ONE warning only. Please be aware that the GMs of each individual section reserve the right to make decisions that will affect their section. If my name is not listed as the GM of a section, I will NOT over-rule the section GM, so don't bother asking.

Please remember to have FUN! ^_^

King of the Gods
Amun-Ra:

user posted image
God of the Sun, Amun Ra is “King of Gods”, the supreme God among Egyptians. He rose out of Nun, the watery abyss, and helped to plan creation. Each day he is born, has bath and breakfast, boards his boat and travels across the sky. At the end of the day he passes into the underworld where he stays until he is born the next morning and fights the serpent Apep. The red in the sky at sun rise and sun set is the blood of the serpent Apep as he engages in eternal battle with Amun-Ra. He is father of Shu and Tefnut. His children were said to go exploring and were lost for a long while, when he found them again he cried tears of joy from which the first humans were born. Oldest and wisest of the gods, Amun-Ra holds all the secrets of magic.

The Lovers
Geb and Nut:

user posted image user posted image user posted image
Son and Daughter of Shu and Tefnut, Geb the God of the Earth and Nut the Goddess of the Sky loved each other so deeply that they clung together as closely as they possibly could, allowing no room for anything to grow between them. In a fit of anger, Amun-Ra, god of the sun, most powerful of all the gods, demanded that his son, Shu, their father, separate them. Placing himself between them, Shu held Geb on the ground with his foot and lifted his daughter into the air, forever separating them so that Geb became the earth, and Nut the sky. Geb’s constant distress over loss of his lover causes earthquakes and it is feared that he will trap the dead in his body and keep them from the after life. Nut's outstretched fingers and toes touch on the four cardinal points. Together they gave birth to Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys.

user posted image user posted image
The Egyptian Mother Goddess, she is possesses a large pair of colourful wings with which she shelters Egypt. She is daughter of Nut and Geb and sister and wife of Osiris. After he was slain by Seth, Isis gathered the pieces of Osiris's body and reassembled them with the help of Anubis, creating the first mummy. Using her powers she brought him back to life. Isis is powerful and cunning. She tricked the sun god, Amun-Ra, into revealing to her all his secrets of sorcery, and so she is the most powerful Sorceress in all of Egypt. Isis is the mother of Horus. She also discovered Anubis in the reeds of the Nile and raised him as her own.

Osiris:

Son of Geb and Nut, brother and husband of Isis, he was originally a god of nature and ruler over all of Egypt. He was murdered by his jealous brother Seth who tricked him at a dinner party, cut his body to pieces, and spread them to the far corners of the world. His wife, Isis, regained his body and brought him back to life by creating the first mummy. After ward he retired to the underworld as God of the Dead and Lord of the Underworld. His skin is now a greenish colour and he still wears his mummy wrappings. He is the father of Horus, who took his place as ruler over the mortal lands.

Horus:

The Embodiment of hostility, evil, chaos, war, storms and the desert, Seth is son of Geb and Nut, and brother and consort of Nephthys. He became jealous of his brother Osiris's rule over the land and murdered him, seizing his throne. After Horus was raised by Isis and Osiris in secret he ousted Seth who then claimed his right to the throne before a divine tribunal, but although some of the gods sided with him, Isis persuaded them to side with Horus instead. Afterwards he went to live with Amun-Ra in the sky and join him in his fight against Apep.

The daughter of Sun god Amun-Ra, she is goddess of truth, justice, cosmic order and harmony. She rules over the judgment of the dead in the throne room of Osiris. When someone dies they stand before 42 judges and declare their guilt or innocence of certain crimes. Their soul is then weighed against the goddess in the form of a feather. Anubis holds the scales and Maat’s Consort, Thoth records the verdict. If the heart is weighted down it is fed to the beast Ammut and the deceased is unable to enter the underworld. If the soul is lighter than the feather it is permitted to enter the underworld.

Thoth:

The God of the Moon, Thoth presides over scribes and serves as vizier of Osiris. He records the results of the judgment of the dead. He sprang from the head of Seth. Amun-Ra ordered him to light up the sky at night. He is slowly devoured by monsters who are then forced to disgorge him bit by bit. He is a man with head of an ibis and wears a crescent moon on his head. Thoth is among the wisest of all the gods.

Hathor and Sekhmet:

The cow headed Goddess of joy, love, dance and song, Hathor carries Amun-Ra on her back. She nurtures the living and carries the dead to the underworld where she refreshes them with food and drink from the sycamore tree, which is where she is believed to be incarnated. All coffins are made from sycamore; death is regarded as a return to the womb of Hathor. When Amun-Ra became old and angry at human kind for plotting against him, he sent the Eye of Ra, the burning power of the sun, to his daughter Hathor transforming her into Sekhmet, the wrath of Ra. Sekhmet began the brutal slaughter of man kind. When Amun-Ra's anger had subsided and he tired of the death and battle, he slathered the fields with a red coloured beer. Believing it to be blood, Sekhmet drank it. When she became too intoxicated to continue with the battle she reverted to the happy form of Hathor.
