Su'cuy vode,

So, um I found this board by accident, while searching the internet for some information for a character sheet for a star wars rpg. So long story short: I'm a big Mando'ade fan. Also speak a little bit of Mando'a even if its still very rough. But I'm going to start learning it properly as soon as the bunch of exams are over I have at the moment and I think it wouldn't do my englisch mark any good if I worte some mando'a words in my english exam by accident xD

As I already said I really love Mando'ade and feel myself captured by the culture, giving me some strenght even if everything around seems to be dar're'tyc, even if I'm maybe not a good Mando'ad at all since I'm not very sportive (but I'm trying to be it again and I would have never started with workouts again if not for Mando'ade). So I found this forum and just thought: Why not take a look and I realy like the tight-knit community that you seem to be and hope to be part of it.

Anyway, as you may have noticed I'm not a native english speaker so please be patient if I make any mistakes or my grammar just sucks. I would be happy if you could point it out to me 'cause I'm always trying to improve.

Oya manda!

Oh and it feels great to be able to speak openly about my devotion to the mandalorian culture. I think my parents and friends would think I'm finally gone totally nuts xD

EDIT: I just dug myself through the forum and found the one for not registered member, seeing a guest calling himself Cabur xD Just to clearify, I'm not that guy ;)

Welcome, ner vod. You've taken the first step towards a new life. It's always nice to have new members and new vode.

Just to clarify, we're not "fans" per se, even though we are. Wait, that came out wrong. What I mean is that we live the lifestyle and the Resol'nare as much as we can. We strive towards being Mandalorians, not just admiring them in a book or a comic or a novel. And I'm not particularly singling you out, either, burc'ya; sometimes I think we should all be reminded of that.

So. Good luck in all endeavors, don't let anything get too personal; we can be a rough sort of group to throw in with. We can be a bit uncouth at times, but we're a good group all around. You'll enjoy your time here, I'm sure. xD

--------------------
We Mando'ad women can be compared to many things. Among that list are "Rabid strills," "A-grade unstable explosives," and "just haran on earth."

But I prefer to think of us Mando'ad women as the most beautiful mystery you'll ever encounter...

What is your native language?

This board should not be your primary link to the culture. Take youe interpretation of this lifestyle and apply it to your life.

Uncouth? *Uncouth*? That's really the best term you can come up with for it?

I'm *trying* not to scare any more potential vode off, Kal. No, uncouth is the very bottom of the barrel for even BEGINNING to describe what we are and how we act and there are other more seemly and choicer words. However, I keep trying to be polite because of my damned waitress training, and it's a habit I can't break. Would you rather I had said, "Oh, yeah, we're all decent friends here with a few notable exceptions and sometimes we rip on each other enough to send even the most sane person running for help just cause we can?" Cause I can.

In fact, I think I just did. xD

 I think I already feel at home here *laugh*

@Shereshoyla: I'm trying to live as a Mando as well. And I think we'll see how far I come. Otherwise I think I wouldn't have registered myself on a board with members that politer aruetiise would call "not quite sane" ;)
But I assume you are fans too and so I finally found someone that knows as much as I, probably more, about Mando'ade and that I can talk about things in books, movies etc. that bother or elate me. I know quite a few Star Wars fans, but most of them don't know very much about Mandalorian and I sadly don't know a single Mando'ad round here.
And I think most of the time I can handle you being a "little bit" rough and uncouth or anyting *g*
No chance scaring me away with that, as long as it isn't getting to personal or you are calling a dentist, they scare the osik out of me.

@Dajin'ika: I'm from Germany, so my native language is german.

Yes, Cabur, (interesting choice of name...means Guardian, doesn't it? Or protector? Something of that ilk. Did you choose it consciously or unconsciously?) I can at least speak for myself and say that I'm an avid fan. I'm not as fond of the Bathrobe Brigade, with a few noted exceptions, as I am of anyone else. But I find it difficult, on occasion, to find someone who knows as much as I do. ;)

And yes, I think you'll fit right in here. Either we'll scare the osik out of you, or we'll make you feel right at home. I personally, feel quite at home here with friends I've made, but as Daj'ika said, it isn't my only link to the culture.

Also, a bit of advice; take it from someone who's newer than some (I still can't believe I've only been on this board for a month; it feels much longer) go through some old threads and post a new addition to them. Your opinion or whatever, but make sure it at least ties back to the topic somehow. Maybe with your help, we can bring some new life into the board. Yay!

Yeah cabur means protector/guardian and I have chosen the name because my reallife names meaning is guardian and so I just translated it into Mando'a. But I think it fits me, because I always to protect those I love from harm and pain.

Bathrobe Brigade? I'm not often in english fantalks and stuff but do I suspect right that it means the Jedi or am I totally wrong? *g*
I'm also doing a lot of rpgs in forums and in one forum there was a guy who knew quite much about mandos, clones and the whole thing and we had some kind of challenge about who knows more *laugh* Sadly he has left a while ago, it was quite a lot of fun.

Or probably both ;)

Yeah, sadly is it my only one in the moment, but we'll see, I'm always keeping my eyes open.

I'm surely going to read a lot of topic, since I already started, as much as schools allows it to me *sigh*
Anyway, it's great to be here :)

Su'cuy Cabur, (funny, I almost picked that name, too.) If you have any questions or need something just say and someone on here should be able to help you. By the way, if you need help learning mando'a, look around in the language section and there should be a thread with a dictionary.

We're also trying to get some voice lessons going on for Mando'a, I just haven't gotten them planned yet. xD

I already got a dictionary, the one from Karen Traviss page but voice lessons would be fantastic. ^^ Yeah I'm trying to kick my shebs and get myself to learn it as soon as I have more sparetime at hand, at the moment my head is full with school stuff, so sorry if I talk nonsense I just feel like :bonk: right now xD

@Kal: (If I may call you so ^^) I wouldn't mind helping you to get your german going again xD

And thanks for the warm welcome over here guys! I'm really happy that I found this forum.

You'd have to take pity on me, I took three years of it several years ago and was taught by a swiss guy used to speaking french. Ahh, high school budget cuts.

Su'cuy Cabur,
It's good to see another newby around here. I tend to watch and listen more than I talk, but Shar has some good advice, I' ve been reading the discussion streams myself.I don't have much free time but I am ready to reopen some of these discussions. Goals and identity are a good place to start, what do you think?
