I'll Be Gone For A While, I'll try to be on when I can ner vode...

You may have noticed within the last month I haven't bee here as often as usual. Well, my mother's cancer has spread, and after the tests of this last month, she has a surgery scheduled for this week. It may be a while until I'm able to be on, and even longer if the results of the surgery are bad.

I would also like to announce that I plan on stepping down as aliit'alor, as I have not been able to be here as often as would like. A vote will be called for the new aliit'alor as soon as I am able to set it up. If anyone would like to contact the other aliit members with this news, it would be very appreciated.

One biopsy surgery down, one more tomorrow morning. The results will come in around the weekend.

The surgery was postponed until likely Monday. Something about her clotting factors, and her the previous results still aren't in yet either. I'm glad I've at least been able to sneak on once and a while and check the boards. Even if I can't be on long.

I know I'm not a member of this aliit, but I wanted to tell you that you and your family are in my thoughts At'ika.

Thanks everyone. It means a lot to know I have ner vode to come to if I need support or help. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated, and to at least try to keep myself as active as I can be depending what's going on here.

My mother was admitted today, the surgery sounds like it'll be tomorrow. We also got the results from the biopsy, not good. Not sure how far it's spread, but it definitely has. Hopefully the scans will tell now and they can get rid of it before it gets too far gone.

Also just found out that a friend of the family who was battling brain cancer just passed as well... knew it was coming, but it still hurts. I think I'm in denial though, I feel more numb than anything right now.....

Ok, sorry the updates haven't been posted for a while. As the saying goes, when it rains it pours.

My mother's surgery was postponed until last Monday due to her being in a lot of pain and pretty sick. The surgery went ok, but she's still in a lot of pain and feeling pretty ill. The cancer spread pretty far, but the doctors are wanting to do more surgery and try different chemo therapies, but my mom's just so sick she doesn't want to yet, and she won't be able to for a while anyways. The doctor's are talking hospice to help keep her pain managed and to help with her care.

Plus last Monday my dogs back went out, so I'm playing nurse for her making sure she doesn't make it worse or I'll have to pay for a several thousand dollar surgery there.... yuck. The only other option if that didn't work would be a doggie wheelchair and some very special care that I don't know if I'd be able to give her.

On the bright side, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!! I picked out a very good cake, requested a taco bell dinner, and I got an iPod nano! Yay! Now I just need to head to Target and pick up some stuff with the gift card I got, not sure what to get though. :)

It's gotten really bad since I last posted. The results came in, she now has at least 3 different types of cancer. Lung, Ovarian, Breast, and possibly Liver. All of them are extremely aggressive. She's now nearly incoherent, sleeps 90% of the time and is in a lot of pain. The doctor say realistically maybe a week left, possibly less. No more than 2-3 weeks, and at the rate she's declining, I can believe it. She fought long and hard and is the most courageous person I've ever had the honor of knowing.....

I'm sincerely sorry At'ika. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Just know that if you need a shoulder, everyone here would let you use theirs.

Hope things work out in the end Atin'ika. I know how you may feel in a situation like this, because Ive seen my grandfather in a similar situation. And I know it aint easy. Stay strong ner vod, just like your name suggests you are.

Thank you for all the support ner vode, it's meant a lot. My mother passed Sunday early morning. I am grateful to have been given as much time with her as I have been, as well as a chance to say goodbye. She was in a lot of pain for a long time, and she's not anymore. She's in a better place, where no pain and suffering exist, and that's a great comfort. I'm currently out of town for the funeral since she wanted to be buried with her family. I don't know when things will settle down here, but I will certainly be back, even if you don't see me for a while again.

Her name is Kimberly. She will be missed greatly, and never forgotten. I don't think anyone can ever be a sweeter, sillier, stronger, or kinder person like she was. The true Atin, my rock.
