Although Magic is Might is a strictly non-book-canon board, we thought it would be fun to create a few canons of our own for you to play! Some characters may hold the last name of a character in the books, but in no way are they related to that character. The only reason we used the name was because those families are very old wizarding families and still exist even though the events of the books have not. So please, if you are applying for a canon, do not relate yourself to any of the book characters in your application. Thank you!

ravenclaw. // 3rd year
cousin to hector and vanessa alvey. robyn and vanessa's family lost touch many years ago when her pureblood mother married a half-blood muggle lover. despite their families bickering, vanessa and robyn have remained friends, secretly of course.

pureblood.
as the older brother of vanessa, he is known to keep a close eye on her. if she skips class, he doesn't just go writing to mommy and daddy, no no, he will deal with it in his own fashion, and that can get ugly at times. while he's actually never laid a hand on her, ever since they were little, he's made sure that she stays in line. hector is one of your more typical slytherins, though he doesn't hate people for being muggle born, he doesn't exactly embrace them with open arms. he's more on the fence at this point, keeping a watchful distance. growing up in an old wizarding home, hector has come to learn the ways of their world quite well. he excels in bribery and blackmail, keeping a mental note of any occurrence that he could later turn around on someone to get something that he wants. hector has high hopes for himself getting the minister position when he is of age, but plans on becoming an obliviator for the department of magical law enforcement like his mother.

vanessa is the younger sister of hector, and everyone seems to know it. vanessa can hardly get any time to herself with her brother always breathing down her neck and whenever she can get away for the afternoon, she's sure to do it, even suffering the consequences of her few stolen hours of freedom. she doesn't hate her brother for being overprotective, but would rather some breathing room instead of him practically watching her do her homework each night. the few friends that she has managed to have aren't exactly what hector bargained for, them being in any house other than slytherin. her fellow slytherins seem to be afraid of getting caught on the wrong side of hector and generally avoid vanessa.

muggle born.
luke started showing signs of magical ability when he was seven years old. his parents became concerned when luke displayed his less than usual abilities and brought him to a psychologist when he was ten. less than a month after luke began his observations, the headmaster of hogwarts came to his house to explain the situation. though more relieved than anything, his parents were nervous about allowing him to attend hogwarts, but were persuaded in the end. having been sorted into ravenclaw, luke sought out any book that he could get his hands on to teach himself more about the wizarding world. he worked diligently in all of his classes, gaining the highest marks in charms, and though he hates to admit it, his lowest marks are in defense against the dark arts.

while his father being a wizard and his mother being a muggle, landon has known his share of ridicule. his pureblood family could barely stand for his father to have married a muggle and his muggle family was completely baffled by the idea of their daughter having accepted the ravings of the madman she calls her husband. wizards, pah! they would jeer, what nonsense! it wasn't until landon starting showing magical signs did his mother's family finally believe the tales they were fed. landon followed in his father's footsteps, attending hogwarts and being sorted into griffindor, at least that made his grandparent's proud. but, times being what they were, landon found himself in a whole new world of insults and jeering. some sneered at him and called his father a bloodtraitor...others called him dirty...some just simply started. of course, his fellow griffindors afforded him some comfort, they even helped him form a plan to make his whole family proud. he took muggle studies in school and when he graduated, he acquired a job that allowed him to help both the muggle and magical world simultaneously, a position in the misuse of muggle artifacts office.

gorgeous, charming, and witty, ava is the resident flirt of the ministry and a pathological liar to boot. she has a fascination with muggles and anything having to do with muggles. ava is the youngest daughter of the formidable pureblood carlisle family.

carlisle, devin
ministry member. // junior assistant to the minister of magic .
pureblood. 30 yrs old.
devin is quite similar to his sister, ava, in that he is inherently magnetizing and rakishly handsome. he is somewhat of a closet sexist and believes in the whole males-are-superior-to-females concept. this male heir to the carlisle name and fortune is on the fast track to winning himself a post in the wizengamot and is one of the most sought-after bachelors in wizarding britain.

pureblood. 28 yrs old.
the "bland" one of the carlisle sisters, vivienne is practical and the voice of reason for her family and husband. unbeknownst to many, vivienne and her husband are trying to conceive a child, although their attempts have only resulted in failure. she is the only member of the carlisle family to have been sorted into ravenclaw.
