Welcome to Magic is Might! Here are the rules of the site that MUST be read before applying for a character. Trust me, we will know if you have read them or not. Just bare with us and read them, it won't take long, we promise. And it'll make all of our lives easier in the end. We'll try and spell these out the best we can for you so they are easy to understand and we won't have any problems.
Out Of Character: OOC
1. Rating. This board is rated PG-13 - R. We do not expect a whole lot of R posting on this board, but it will be allowed to an extent. Please be sure you can handle this type of RPing before joining the board. All topics that have anything over PG-13 will have a warning in the topic title. Also, this is an intermediate/advanced site and we ask that you can write at that standard before joining.
2. Emotions. Please keep in mind that this is a role play forum made for people trying to have some fun! Make sure your emotions are in check. And by this we mean that it is totally unnecessary for you to bicker with (an)other member(s). If you have a problem with another member then let's handle this like civilized people. PM an admin, discuss your problem(s) and we'll help you take care of them no matter how minor. The members on our site are our family, and to have one not like another is forcing us and other members to chose sides. And that just ruins it for all.
3. Signatures & Avatars. Okay. On the signatures, keep it to a maximum width of 500 pixels and a maximum height of 225 pixels, or a maximum of 6(six) avatars with a maximum of 5(five) lines with no bigger than a 3pt. font. Avatars are staying at the usual, 100x100 pixels. If your signature happens to be a little bit bigger than the requested size and still looks fine, we will probably allow it. But, if it's too big then we'll delete it and inform you that you need to get a new one. Nudity in signatures or avatars is not permitted.
4. Vacation or Leaving the Board?. If you are going on a vacation that's longer than 4(four) days, then we ask that you please post in the away board. It is not mandatory to post there but we ask that you at least talk to us either through the c-box or a preferred messenger. Like AIM or something of the sort. But you must do one or the other, that way if you're gone for a month to go to Zimbabwe or Montenegro we won't delete your character or something.
BUT, if you're leaving the board then that's a different story. You don't have to tell anyone except for the admins. If you inform us beforehand, then we may be inclined to ask you why. We are professionals at that. We won't try too hard to make you change your mind. If we feel your character is important to the plots, then we'll ask to add your old character into the canon list and save the Bio Sheet as a guide for the next person who wishes to play your character. However, if you just leave and don't show up for an activity check, then we will do as we see fit for your character.
5. Inactivity. There will be an activity check once in a while here at Magic is Might. Please be sure to check in to those because more often than not they will also hold some kind of new information concerning the board. If you do not check in, we will assume that you no longer wish to play your character and they will be put up for grabs as a canon.
In Character: IC
1. Characters. All characters are to have their own account with the name of that character as the username. Account names such as 'hottie_vamp4u2007' will be asked to change. All characters must have both a first and last name, a middle name will be accepted, but is not required.
You may have no more than 2(two) characters to start off with. If you would like more, they must be approved by an Admin. If you are making another character just for the hell of it, you must use it. Extra characters that are never used are just a waste of space. If you are doing a plot that needs a disposable character, then just ask. We will approve it, don't sneak it behind our backs because we will not like that. Also, you must make a character profile for each character here and get accepted before you can role play. Please remember to follow the guidelines!
2. Posts. All RP posts must be in the past tense and third person. Third person is "He, she, it, or your character's name" not "I, you" or anything else of that matter. Posts should also be no less than 10(ten) sentences, each with 5(five) words. Do not flame or spam threads, its rude and unnecessary. Doing so may get you a mod-que or even taking away of post rights. [Of course, you may get into arguments with another's character, but do not take it to heart, just because someone hates your character IC, does not mean they hate you. Please try to grasp this concept!] Do not go into a thread and disrupt the plot, go along with what is happening. If you need to say something out of character, use (ooc: blah blah), it makes it easier to distinguish what is part of the RP and what isn't.
When creating a thread and you want a certain person to post in there with you, please indicate so in the topic description.
For example:
I'm an example!
tag -- the minister!
See? Now, if you don't care who posts then instead do this:
I'm another example!
open
If it's a thread between you and specific other person but you don't care who else jumps in afterwards, there's also this:
Stop with the damn examples!

Got it? But remember, this isn't totally necessary. But, if someone posts in your thread and you complain that you don't want them there, the offense is on you if you didn't indicate otherwise. Either suck it up or ask nicely, but the other player does not have to leave.
3. Maturity. There will be some scenes that may be sexual or even very descriptive violence, if you can't handle it, don't post there! All threads that are overly graphic or sexual must have a rating in the topic description and a warning in the first post of the thread. An Admin will be watching these threads to make sure they don't get out of hand! For all sexual scenes, we ask that you are not too graphic and that you hit the fast forward button a couple of times. So the posts will go from foreplay to the cigarette, perhaps a little bit of description in between, but I repeat, nothing too graphic! In addition to that, bestiality, rape, or any other kind of truly dangerous sex scenes cannot be posted here. The topic will be deleted and you will be warned! If, for plot purposes, a character has raped another, then just let it be said that it happened without the thread of it happening. We are not responsible for persons who take action in writing/reading erotica on this forum. It was your choice to click on the thread after previously warned. So, we don't want to hear any complaints.
4. The Bio Sheet. Registering a name is only the first step. You must then wander over to Submissions, which is here, and fill it out! We ask that you be descriptive on this. If we come across a filled out application that's not up to this RPs standard, we will respond asking you to add more to your application. If your bio sheet is unfinished or we've asked you to fix something and you have not finished it in one week, seven days(7), it will be moved to the denied subforum. If you plan on taking a while to finish your application, give us a heads up. If you wish to post it before it is finished with, be sure to tag it as unfinished. Remember, all canon reservations last for a maximum of four(4) days unless otherwise noted!
5. Death/Injuries. You can not kill or injure another character with out their consent and permission. The Victim is ALWAYS in control. The combatants make suggestions what they do, but only the victim can decide their fate. Lets play fair...we are not all super heroes and can block every attack. But let’s also be careful on how far we push other characters. Remember this is fun, so don't take everything so seriously. If you can follow those rules of thumb, things should be easier to role play. In short, no god-modding!!
6. Abilities. Let's be realistic here, we may be RPing wizards, but try to keep some truth to your characters. Remember there are many things that students can't to until they graduate and get jobs. Certain spells will be far too difficult for certain members to use, so let's not go pulling out Avada Kedavra if we are a first year, ok?
7. Special Characteristics. Alright, we would like some variety here at Magic is Might, so we will be accepting a few werewolves, half [or any partial really, but no more than half I'd say] veelas, animagi [will be reserved for older students and adults], ghosts [of hogwarts], metamorphmagus and squibs. Again, these are rare happenings in the wizarding world, so please have some discretion.
Now that that is said and done! Let's get on with the roleplay. It is our hopes here at Magic is Might that we will have tons of fun and no rule breaking! If however, you do happen to break a rule, contact an admin and politely inquire about what went wrong, impolite contact will not help your case!
