Weather & Season
Autum
The weather is fairly warm at the moment, but about to get hotter. We are creeping up to summer, a time of heat and little water. Summer is a hard time in these lands, so make sure you’re prepared.

The heat of the air was tolerable, however, even in the midday hours it was easy to tell just how quickly the weather could become unbearable - the sun had a sick mind in this female's mind. A welcoming breeze made itself known, though almost kept at bay by the tall grass, a small relief to the heated weather soon to come.

Her stomach rumbled with hunger, letting it be known why she was here in the first place. Food. Her white fur was full of the sun's unsavored warmth - though she welcomed it to the winter months, warmth was better than the cold weather than made limbs stiff.

Having decided it was well enough time to not be bothered by this problem any longer, she lowered her stomach to the ground and crept forward, the scent of food her current focus. A rabbit would satisfy her current hunger, at least for the time being.

Black, dulled claws dug into the cool earth dirt, not completely effected by the sun's on coming rays thanks to the grass standing tall above it. "Now, where's those rabbits?" She questioned, to herself, really, there was no one else around that she could see.

Silver eyes darted around, peering inquisitively through the grass that towered above. Fenris hadn't seen any prey yet today, save a few squirrels and one half-grown, skinny rabbit. His stomach was churning and growling furiously, but it was a feeling he was used to; so, in turn, it didn't really bother him that much. Not yet. He resisted the strong urge to pant, his thick dark pet attracting more heat that a lighter, thinner one would.

Padding gently, softly through the tall grasses, his paws sinking into the fresh earth with each step, the black wolf stalked hungrily with his belly close to the ground. He inhaled deeply, at first not scenting anything. The wind shifted directions, and an unfamiliar smell wafted into his nostrils. The scent of another wolf. A wolf he didn't know. His eyes widened, and his fur bristled up along his nape. He curled his lips up - an involuntary movement he made whenever he was angry, surprised, or unnerved.

Fenris flexed his thick black claws and took extra precaution as he stealthily crept forward and slightly to his left, towards the direction of the scent. As he came closer, the scent revealed that the unfamiliar wolf was female, and she didn't smell of the Rebel Pack. This calmed him down a bit, but not enough to sate his curiosity. Making sure not to make a sound, he pushed aside a small tuft of grass with his muzzle, revealing a snow-white female wolf. The dark beast straightened himself up slowly, flexing his muscles, raising the fur along his nape and pointing his ears forward. As Beta of Sullivan's pack, he took it upon himself to confront the intruding wolf.

Having been so distracted with finding a meal it would have appeared she had never noticed the male coming closer until her was close enough to be almost invading personal space. He did not smell familiar, at least that she could tell - though for a loner like herself very few wolves were familiar in scent, she had encountered few and befriended even less.

The fur on the nape of her neck bristled at the intrusion of her peace quiet - originally she would have welcomed the company, though something about this male unnerved her - though she didn't let that feeling be known to him. It wasn't safe to show your fears to a stranger - wolf or otherwise.

"Well? You you going to hide in the grass all day from me or come out?" She informed, making it known she acknowledged his presence fro the time being. Her voice was steady and full of a raspy tone - normal for her at least and not intentional.

Fenris chuffed, his narrowing eyes flickering with malice. He flexed his claws and muscled once more before stepping softly out of hiding. He padded towards her slowly and cautiously, his hackles raised and head up yet low enough to keep his neck protected. He stopped his approach when he was roughly a meter and a half away from the female. His body was turned slightly to the side, his head swiveled about to face her directly. Both of his ears twitched irritably.

"Tell me your name, what pack you are from, and what your business is in Sevan," he demanded clearly, his own voice naturally quiet and whispery, yet at the same time calculating and inquisitive. "While your at it, tell me whether or not you have any friends around here as well."

He had never quite perfected the art of looking commanding and proud. His form was always naturally in a defensive, ready-to-bolt pose. Which, of course, usually made him look as if he was submissive and nervous about himself. Then again, it sometimes helped in making the enemy underestimate him.

She studied him a moment, taking in his size and whether or not he was a threat to her or not - from the looks of him she wasn't sure, he didn't stand very sure of himself, though that could be a mistake on her part - something she realized and took note of.

"My name is Hikari, I'm a loner, and even if I said I have no friends around would you believe me? A stranger, a possible threat, isn't always truthful and if you are any bit experienced you'd know that."

She was neutral in her stance, neither submissive nor dominant, she stood in a normal stand, her body was relaxed, her tail looped down against her legs with the tip curled up halfway.

Fenris looked to the side for a brief moment before turning his gaze back to the female. "I see," he said skeptically. It was true - he didn't really believe her. It's not that she seemed sly or deceptive, just that it was in his nature to never trust anybody. An old habit that will probably never die. The wolf shuddered slightly, but with anger and contempt, not with fear. He had been deceived and back-stabbed in past. He couldn't help but look approvingly at her neutral stance. It was smart of her to show neither fear, anger, or submissiveness. It gave one the art of surprise and control.

He noticed the peculiar way in which her tail curled at the tip. He had never seen a wolf do that before. He had once seen a mountain lion who held its tail in a similar fashion, but never another wolf. No matter; it didn't really have an effect on anything. "I don't exactly believe you, but I'm not fixated on the fact that you might be lying either. The question is - what do I do with you now?" The grizzled Beta wolf had dealt with many trespassers before, all of whom were either bristling and defensive or turning tail and running. He wasn't sure how to deal with someone who was neither.

Never matter that, though. He adapted and learned easily. Some might call him shifty, but preferred flexible.

She thought for a moment, pondering the current predicament and going over all possible outcomes in her head before settling on she wouldn't be surprised with whatever it might be. Her brow lifted slightly, though she stay pup, merely studying him - or at least pretending to.

"Well, you could do the typical thing and try to run me off with no certainty that I will comply. Or you could be on your way and I'll be on mine. Or we could call it a truce until another day." She suggested, appearing neither smug nor fearful, she had a careless expression on her face. She knew very well how stubborn she could be and by the looks of it he was equally stubborn as she - if not more so, though she had been wrong before.

Well enough. He wasn't a big fan of confrontation, though he rarely objected to it. If he could get by without a fight or chase, he would. Like Hikari, his mind was spinning rapidly with all the possible scenarios and consequences of what he might choose to do. He was a very organized and intelligent creature, thats for sure. He never acted without thinking things out first.

"I really don't want a confrontation, so you shouldn't expect one," he said calmly. Though she was female, he had a certain respect for her - someone like himself. He wasn't like Sullivan; he really didn't have a problem with females. But he had to keep his Alpha happy, so he played actor for the time being. He sat down upon his haunches and looked her over. "Very well then. I don't want to fight and you don't want to fight, so I guess we could call it a truce. But I have to tell my Alpha about you all the same. And if you don't mind, I'll have to tell him that I ran you off. I'm sure you understand - I don't want him to think I'm a coward. Not that not wanting to fight you makes me one."

She stopped to ponder for a moment, deciding if she was happy with the solution to their situation. Having lost all reason for the thought that a possible attack was about to happen she settled down on her own haunches, tilting her head a bit. Good, she was in no mood for a fight today - something she was good at but liked to avoid if possible, and besides it was not to say she would succeed with a victory this time, he was too much like herself. She liked to company, actually, ever how awkward it may be, it was far better than constant solitude in her opinion.

"Well, I've considered it and since you've helped me by not trying to bully me into doing something - which by the way wouldn't work unless you killed me, something I prefer to avoid if at all possible - so feel free to tell you alpha whatever you wish. I won't object, I'll be out of your fur as quick as I catch myself something to eat." She offered, a wolfish smile on her muzzle.

Returning her wolf-smile, Fenris said, "That sounds reasonable. Both of us would get what we want and not have to worry about getting wounded or killed - so it sounds good to me. I don't have a problem with you hunting around a bit more, there is plenty of game in Sevan. More than even our pack could eat."

Fenris liked her attitude. She was calm and collected, not threatening or kissing up to him like almost any other wolf would do. She had a good head on her shoulder, which was something too many wolves were born without.

She hadn't always been so level-headed and calm, as a young pup she was hard-headed and rushed into things without giving it a second thought, something she finally learned was stupid and not something she wanted to do if she intended to stay alive. She had nearly been killed several times, however, before she learned her lesson - a few times by her own father who was crazy anyways. She was smarter now, obviously, so she knew better. As for kissing up, it was just something she wouldn't do - whether it meant saving her life by doing it or not.

"I thank you for that." She informed, appearing as sincere as she could to a stranger. She was no softy and rarely showed appreciation for anything in words. Not to say she was disrespectful, however, for she certainly wasn't.
