an excellent day today.
a great turnout of away fans, i don't mind the gloryhunters. 528 official away figure and was quite comical watching the R&D stewards panicing when it was apparent that we wouldn't fit into teh section they allocated. they point blank refuse to open up anymore of teh 'airwear' stand but still had about 100 outside 10 mins before KO and had to put the rest in the south stand. the R&D stewards who are notorious for being 'sit down nazis' were pretty tolerant and were never heavy handed with us in teh slightest. fair play to them, especially as I never sat down except for the half time breather. excellent noise from our fans too, even some of the gloryhunters who joined in. there is a post on the R&D forum saying how vocal we were. though it was our FA Cup final so we had an excuse for the chanting the game was good. it was the right result no complaints. R&D were simply that bit better than us in all departments. we never embarressed ourselves, but they were quicker and stronger as you'd expect from the higher team. the lads gave everything and as the game wore on, especially in the final minutes we did begin to visably tire and I reckon the 3rd goal was down to fatigue more than anyhting else. the only negative from todays game has to be the performance of Chukki. I've like him in his previous games and I know he divides opinion, but I thought today he was gash. he didn't run for the ball, he didn't tackle, he couldn't even hold possesion - and I reckon he gave away possesion 9/10 times. he should've been off the pitch 20 minutes earlier than he was eventually taken off. sorry to single anyone out today, but his half hearted mistake that directly led to the R&D second goal so soon after our was a major turning point. see you all tuesday night for the Leicestershire Challenge Cup - the real trophy worth winning -------------------- http://www.hinckleyunitedfc.co.uk - proud to be average

For me it wasn't one of the best away days. The lads did their bit on the pitch (all apart from Chukki that is) and we couldn't have asked for much more from them. But being in that stand reminded me why I support a non-league side. I HATE seating, though as DJ said, we didn't use the seats. But it was harder to get an atmosphere going. It'll also be nice to get back to the hard core on Tuesday night. All 20 of us! See you all on Tuesday I'm sure

I really enjoyed yesterday. It was great to see so many travel to offer their support and I'm still rather hoarse this morning
I hope Chalky managed to get some nice piccies as I don't think there was a Hinckley Times photographer present. Bit of a mess up on the coaches which saw 4 left behind but Nobby (Radburn, not the mascot We're playing very, very well this season and I'm sure we've much more to look forward to. Well done everyone. Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on. -------------------- Is it true that before he rose to fame on 'Star Trek',William Shatner was known as 'Bill Shits'?

One thing the players showed us yesterday, was that we should be playing at Conf national level. We have the stadium and looking at yesterday, we have the team to do it. One good thing about going out now is that DT & SS can push on for that top 5 place. The league is wide open, we've proved we can play against the bigger names and sooner rather than later, it'll be our time. If we could just keep hold of an extra 50 supporters from that 500, then we'd been in a better financial position to help DT make the push. Let's hope for a big turn out next Saturday against Alfreton

Long time reader, 1st time poster.
Yesterday was a good day out and a good performance by the players. I think that R&D have an extra half yard of pace across the park and a bit of extra fitness, probably due to being full time. The 1 gripe I did have was with a certain element of the casual supporters. The amount of overt racism spewing from their mouths was horrific. A bit of bad language goes with the emotion of the game but this was unacceptable. I wont repeat any of it here but it got to the stage where 1 of our party was looking for somewhere else to sit to get away from it. I am of the opinion that Hinckley Utd is a family club and that sort of rubbish is not part of our club. My Uncle brings my 6 year old cousin to the games and I'm glad he's not usually exposed to that filth. I recognised some of the idiots from previous "glory" fixtures such as the Torquay/Brentford run and the play-off final. I'm glad they dont come every week. Rant Over. Hope we can push on and have a good run over christmas and into the second half of the season. This post has been edited by LittleBigE on Nov 8 2009, 11:06 AM |

Didn't hear any of the racism but did I see a few of the 'boys' going in fresh faced and coming out of the bogs, together, all red nosed and sniffing
The only reason I spotted this was because I was queueing for what seemed like eternity for some 'refreshment'. Good if you like chips, cold pasties and waiting for burgers, or anything else that involved any kind of rudimentary preparation such as tea or coffee. Not so good if you're starving and wanting to see a football match. Our ground is clearly on the same level as most National grounds and on yesterday's showing our catering is much more efficient. That said, it was my first away of the season and well worth it. We gave them a game and a bit more composure after we scored and it could have been very different. Cheers HUFCSC, it was a great day, everyone got there and back again and you can't ask for more than that. |

Great away game. I felt the lads fought well but just couldn't find the finish needed. Heads should be held high though, no disgrace.
Chukki was awful again. Waste of time him being on the picth as he just gets in the way. Too many mistakes and he has no desire to win the ball, jump for it, run after it or try and mix it up for the others to get through. Why does he keep getting picked? Thought Conner had an excellent game and Giddings was solid again. Here's hoping for the play offs. Going on this season, I think we'd manage to keep our place in the conference if we go up. I'm also glad we don't have all seating in our stand. I do enjoy standing in the Tom Powers. |

Great advert for none football
The only complaint Ive got is Chukki. Ive witnessed most of his time on the pitch and reckon he contributes very little. Hope yesterday was his last. My advice to him is find another club as quickly as you can. GO, now your track record with us tells me we deserve better than you in the side we have better on the bench |

Glad you enjoyed your trip, athough I'm sorry your cup run didn't end at a more gamorous place! Hopefully you'll vist is again, perhaps next season in a league fixture?
Well done to the travelling fans. Regardless of the glory-hunter aspect of it, bringing 500+ is very impressive - only Cambrige, Kettering and Luton will bring more. RDFC Fans' blog photos here: http://rdfcfansblog.wordpress.com/2009/11/...ey-photos-live/ As I said, good luck for the season |

The pic below shows we should have been given more of, if not all of the stand. Great away following though and Nene Park is a nice stadium.

don't go overboard lee we would've only taken up half at most, but agree they should've opened up more of the 'airwear', but then again none of us expected over 500 to travel. i only expected about 250 I liked Nene Park, I don't think anyone has a problem with the quality of the ground, just that we don't normally have to be in seats and that there was always a long queue for food. -------------------- http://www.hinckleyunitedfc.co.uk - proud to be average

Well I'm glad for one that the argument about Chukki is no longer that.
He has seemed poor from the moment he first put the shirt on. Having said that, I can see why DT started with him (and also left out Mace), though West should have been on for the second half. He's fully deserved at least that from his performances. Really chuffed to see so many in the away end. My Dad had point blanked refused to believe that we could bring 300 when asked what I thought we might bring and we made good noise throughout. R&D did edge it. They looked that bit more professional and clinical and it's obvious as to why that is. Giddings was my MOM. I saw him make one mistake all game. Nene Park is a cracking stadium and I enjoyed it nonetheless. We at least had the equaliser to celebrate. Our little corner went crazy and you could see what it meant to the players too. Roll on Alfreton. |

We are actually playing at home before the Alfreton game !!
Apart from Gainsbrough Chukki has looked pretty ordinary all season, and yesterday he was dreadful, really brought hoem what a blow it was when lourognon stayed in france - no desire to jump, run or tackle and a lazy late pass that set up their goal We lack a bit of height at the back and they were fitter than us - which is a function of them being full time no doubt - we weren't disgraced and there's no reason to believe we couldn't compete at that level - except perhaps financially given our low crowd base Will miss the Alfreton game as at the rugby but will probably be going to the Kirkham game if anyone fancies a lift |

I think Chukki showed us he's no more than an impact player to come off the bench after 65/70 minutes. West & Webbo are the best two though I really think Alex Taylor will score if played up front. On Tuesday I'd put Alex alongside Chukki. If Chuk can't score against Barrow Town then maybe DT should look elsewhere? -------------------- Get ya Zeke on!
