Information and Discussion

The sidestory's prologue was published in this month's Dengeki Hobby.
QUOTE (GoodHaro)
This month includes 00N’s prologue.
P136-141 Beginning with staff comments from Director Mizushima, and explanation of 00N which will be serialized from here on.

00N is without a specific protagonist, or a single overarching story.
It depicts events in the world of “Gundam 00″ without [following] a timeline or prescribed [order].
Source

I guess it could be interesting. Though, with these writers...

"The Union was founded by a bunch of loli lesbian catgirls who could predict the next 20 years of the future via their GN BS powers. Setsuna was also there, hiding under the table.

But enough textbook stuff. Here's bad physical comedy of Graham slipping on a banana peel!"

Glad to see that shot of the Jupiter ship again.

You know,S1 Novel 2 mentions that the man who killed the remaining Gn scientists on Jupiter years ago also tried to crash the ship onto Jupiter;I wonder if it was a different ship,or whether he failed and the ship that Alejandro Ancestors found in S119 was it[We also know this ship is the same one used for the public Jupiter mission as well, seen in 00I flashback].

[Sigh].........it would be pretty nice if Kouryokokan actually elaborated more on what's said in the chapter.

Thanks for the pics,as always.Too bad alot of your old ones are down due to the previous host.

00N seems like an interesting format for them to expand the series, since its not specifically limited to a specific character or a specific time. Then again, some sidestories do sort of impressed at first only to go a little.......well looney perhaps?I have no idea where 00I is headed for example.

Well,a bit of premature judgement but this chapter didnt seem to impress me much but the 00N format still seems interesting. The Orbital Elevator do seem interesting though,I wish they could tell us more details on it,I hope they did in this chapter but the lack of any long mention of it by the koryokoukan post is not making me hold my breath of much interesting details. But we'll see I guess.

QUOTE (GoodHaro)
This month['s topic] is the Aero Flag. A special Union Flag variation proposed for use in other countries. The gun portion of the nose section has been replaced with an Aero Cowl*, boosting the machine’s aerial capacity.
The most well known of the Aero Flags is probably the unit attached to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. They’re called “the North Shield.”
In particular, a member of the unit [named] Joshua has a particularly brilliant record of military achievement.
Some have even appraised him greater than Graham Aker.

After this, Patrick scribbled in the line “But, there’s no doubt that he’d fall behind Patrick Colasour!” but it’s clear that, aside from that last sentence, this was written by someone other than Patrick.
The text is titled “Union Army: Inquiry into Ariel Battle Reconnaissance Patrol Planes”
The unit attached to Elmendorf Air Force Base’s unit-badge is Polaris and snowy mountains.
The North Shield unit-badge is a skull** being cleaved by an axe.
(***)

Finally, 00N continues with Billy’s writing.
The text is titled “The development of weapons and the future thereof with respect to the Earth Federation”
Billy tells the story of MS development after the procurement of the fake GN drives.
It ends with the confiscation of the Celestial Being space ship and so on.

{*it’s a car part apparently, I have an idea of what it is but I can’t think of the word in English… and now I’ve got the urge to watch Top Gear
** kouryakukan has this glossed as “hell” for some reason, I don’t get it
*** I think I get it now, but I don’t know how to translate this line because I think I’m missing the reference but I think it’s explaining that the axe + skull (glossed “hell”) is punning on “axel” which has something to do with some type of foolhardy type of character?}

The Aero Flag seems interesting enough. The "aero cowl" (?) is reminiscent of the later Trident Striker linear rifle, and the guns replacing the hands is similar to the Hellion Bombardment Type.

Official site lists it formally as the "SVMS-01AS Flag Aerial Combat Reconnaissance Patrol Type".

Now counting Flag variants.

YMS-01A
SVMS-01
SVMS-01SG "Shell"
SVMS-01AS "Aero"

SVMS-01OP "Space Type"
SVMS-01AP "Orbit Flag Colony Guard configuration?"
SVMS-01AW "Astro Works"

SVMS-01E
SVMS-01O
SVMS-01X

I am just confused whether the Orbit Flag in 00F is the same as the regular Space Flag, or the standard version of the AP type.

Quite interesting indeed.
Notice that the defense rods are also different, being quite like the ones on the "SVMS-01X Custom Flag II", as yet another drag reducing change.

An "Aero Cowl" typically refers to a bulge on the hood shaped aerodynamically to accomodate for an engine that no longer fits under the original hood.
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-d...olt-camaro.html
In Japan though it's sometimes used to describe the entire aerodynamic upgrade package, which is a bit of a misnomer.

For the Aero Flag I guess this means the "aero cowl" is purely an aerodynamic aid and no longer comprizes that function with being a cannon/gun-type weapon as well.
Instead, the forearms now house the primary cannons, having little use for the aerodynamically obtrusive hands.
