The Tieren Taozi may not have originally been designed for Super Soldiers to use, as it only had a normal cockpit to begin with, there is evidence of Tieren Taozi-like MS in HRL's past. A Black and White reflection into Allelujah's past reveals such a machine.

Perhaps if we delve into the Taozi's information and cover this as the series progresses, we'll see the past of a terrible organization behind HRL's curtain.

Such a poor angle....what little we can see of that design looks like a stock Tieren Ground Type. But then, it's possible that such was the original intent of the Super Soldier project, to create better soldiers for use on Earth.

Soma, however, is specifically mentioned as having been designed for use in zero-gravity. Perhaps that reflects the fact that she was designed as such from conception, while Allelujah, who seems to have been modified after birth, is lacking the zero-gravity-specific modifications, and so was expected to be used (if at all) on Earth.

At first I thought the image showed a Tieren with two cannons mounted to the torso... but now I think those are just ramps going around it. As bad of a picture it is... that right shield mount looks very similar to that of the Taozi. Perhaps the Taozi is an older model than we think?

One thing a lot of people seem to keep missing is the ground Tieren legs on it.

How do you figure? Just by the tops of the legs that we see?

Seems interesting that they'd be mounting what looks to be prototype mobility shields we see on the Taozi on what's being speculated as a Ground type.

Pretty much; the flashback gives us a clear look at them.

Its legs may mark it as a Tieren Ground Type, but this machine's no stock model. The shield we see in the flashback not only has the lower indentation distinctive to the Taozi's thuster shield(with an identical indentation at the top end), but it's also mounted on a joint that's almost identical to that shared by the Space Commander Type and High-Mobilty Commander Type B. Maybe it's a missing link among those three variants?

Not really, the Taozi is part of the development of a next gen Tieren I believe and it's designed as an all terrain model. The Space Tieren by contrast, was a space-specific model. The Taozi gave the indication that it means to be more advanced than the other Tierens even though at that point it shared many things with the Tierens of the day.

The discussion we see above are most while Season 1 was still running, so it was before a lot of info came out.

It should be noted that the Taozi was also the basis if the Ahead. The Ahead was the first ESF made model (full model so the GN Flag does not count) that wasn't made by a Celestial Being-related faction. The team that made it was also the same team that made Tieren Taozi.

The Tieren Taozi was chosen because of its all environment design. This was very much in like with how GN Drive machines where they are pretty much all terrain machines. Hence it made sense to adopt it as a basis for the first ESF designed machine. The GN-X of course was also involved in the GN technology department.
