So... is this place still alive?
Anyway... so I'm on the "executive board" for the Japanese Student Association at my college (no, I'm not Japanese... yes, it's a little strange, but whatever). Near the end of the school year, the JSA (as it's called) puts on this event called "Japan Night." In a nutshell, it's this Japanese culture festival, with food and various performances, and etc. etc. and because I have the power to do it this year, I think it'd be really great if I got some Japanese band to play at this year's show.
Since we're a student organization, we have practically no money. As a result, it's not like we can fly GO!GO! in and have them play for us. Hell, even if they were touring America at that point, we probably STILL couldn't get them.
So, really, what I'm looking for are small Japanese indie bands who'd be touring America or are based in like New York or the east coast. Honestly, TsuShiMaMiRe would be a good sized band if they were touring America at that time.
I'm simply not asking for a list of bands, though. Instead, I'm asking for some resources that help me find these bands. I already know Rock of Japan and Tokyo no Records, and KarateRice... are there any more sites anyone can think of?
And hey, why not, if you can think of any bands that fit the criteria go ahead and list those too.
I'm not going to be talking to them right away, since I haven't even asked the other members if they'd want to do this, and Japan Night isn't until April or something, anyway. But I'm trying to compile things so if we want to go ahead with it, I already have the resources.
And if I do manage to get some band, anyone close enough to Albany should attend! ;)
