"I'm not a prisoner," she spat back quickly, "I obey the rules and I try to please the Human League. They've done more for me than you could ever understand. And, you know, some people actually feel grateful towards those who have helped them. I respect the HL, and I respect them enough to understand that they're very dangerous."

Shaking her arm away from him, she walked ahead a bit. It was not often that people didn't do what she wanted, and the fact that his compliance would benefit him only made her more frustrated. Dealing with things with bravado was one thing, but the way he was going about it was foolish. She found nothing admirable in his pigheadedness.

"You think you can just breeze through here as though you always belonged?" she asked him. "You came here an enemy. You had good enough fortune not to be burned alive with the others. You might be fine throwing away whatever good graces you have with the Human League, but I'm not. It took me years to get to where I am today, and I'm not about to sully my image just because you don't care about it. Maybe Samick can give you someone else whom you can sympathize with."

Other people might have thought him crazy for speaking up, but it’s what Percival did. He stood up for himself. It took a second to catch up with the silvery satin dress wearing maven of stage and screen, but when he did he replied, “Listen to yourself would you?” He pleaded, “I obey the rules and try to please the League…” a beat, “I understand them enough to know they’re dangerous…” another beat. “Really. REALLLLLY?” He frowned, “Do you hear yourself?”

Keeping a fake smile on his face enough to get by the cameras was hard enough, but what she was saying was insane. Turning to her, he said in his own harsh whisper, “Slaves try to please their masters, and are afraid of what will happen should they NOT. Maybe you’re not so much a prisoner as a slave?” He shrugged. Once they were inside the cinema Percival pulled her to the side, near the coat check room and simply watched her for a long time. She had to be kidding if she thought he didn’t see through her.

Rubbing at the hair of his chinny chin chin, he decided to be straight up, that was all he had been anyway, it might as well have been here and now in a public setting, “I am a stubborn, god awful son of a bantha, but I’m an honest man, Callista.” He said, “The second you turn your back on me, your pet, your responsibility, Samick is going to have me killed, simple as that…there’s no going to a new home, there’s no safe place for me to bond with other stubborn SOB’s. No one adopts the ugly puppy, Cally, and I’m not pretty. There’s going to be a hole in the backside of my skull and I’ll have the humanity of the league to thank for it.” He explained.

“Then, then, in the true sense of irony when the slave,” He motioned to her, “Has outlived her usefulness and is relegated to turning tricks for a living just to stay alive, OR ends up in the very same situation I’ll end up in should you decide you no longer wish to deal with me that you won’t find your precious League to be as accepting.” There was a hint of darkness in his voice. “Really gives that whole Human/Humane campaign you did a little less luster, don’t you think?” Falconius felt his shoulders tightening once more.

“Thank you all for coming. The film will start in just a few moments. You should take your seats.” An usher came by to tell them as he found the star of the film and her guest talking by the coat check room. He hadn’t heard anything, but saw the seriousness of the expression on the male and asked, “Is everything to your liking here?”

Callista didn't know if she had felt angrier in her life. How dare he speak to her like that? How dare he renounce the very organization that spared his pitiful life? Ungratefulness didn't seem to cover it. The ice in her eyes melted as the usher approached them. She smiled at him warmly, the facade back in place.

"Of course, thank you," she replied with a winning smile. "I just get a little nervous before premieres, that's all."

The usher nodded, clearly enthused by actually getting to speak to THE Callista Sapphire.

She took a deep breath and tried to regain composure. There had been many worse scandals that had overtaken her before premieres. It was just a matter of acting through them.

"I would thank you to not presume you know the Human League," she said conversationally, putting on a smile for the photographers as they continued towards the cinema. "Or that you know me."

His assumptions had left a bad taste in her mouth, and she really did not want to be near him any longer. The evening could not be over fast enough.
