So, I feel like there are some grey areas that I just want to flesh out in a clear and simple way, so I have decided to make this f.a.q.! Not that I really even know what those letters even really stand for, but it seems like the the right title... so I'm going with it.
1] Can I be my own, original character?Well... yes and no. Since members of an athletic league are often registered, I have decided to give names to all 91 players [13 teams x 7 players each] that will participate in the league. However, I have not given them all personalities or even physical descriptions. The only thing I ask you to follow is the Nationality and the Playing Position that have been assigned to them, located under their names on the
canon list. If no Nationality is specified, please try to keep it believable. This is the English League after all, I'm not sure how many foreigners would be joining it.
On a brighter side, you may create your own original characters if they are
not on one of the Quidditch Teams. Spectators will be
necessary once the actual Tournament begins and there will be a fully functioning
town around the Quidditch Pitch throughout the six month season for extra characters to play in! Family members are welcome as well, but be sure to talk with the character's player before making a family member.
2] Can I change my character's name? While exceptions can be made when the game is first beginning, as we get further along character names will already have been used in threads and therefore will be ineligible for change. Sorry, but I cannot edit all past threads with your character's name in it, it would just get too complicated.
3] Can I change my character's playing position?Basically the same as above. We will be using the players as NPCs until someone comes along to fill the character's shoes. If posts have already been made by one or more team members, I cannot allow a change.
4] Can I play more than one character from the same team?Plain and simply,
no. It's really unfair to the other teams if one person can post almost back to back in a thread. Read the
Quidditch System descriptions and you might begin to understand what I mean. Everything happens in the order in which it is posted, so if "Jane" is online and she has two players from the Falcons she would be able to post catching the quaffle, switch to the other character and post maybe something about being the Seeker [just an example], and then switch back to being the Chaser and post about shooting the quaffle, all before the other team has a chance to retaliate! I know that was kind of long winded and not the greatest of explanations, but I hope you see where I am going with that.
Anyone found to be playing more than one character from the same team will be put in a 'time-out' [warning & few days suspension] and upon return will be asked to choose which character they would like to keep.5] What are 'Relationship Pages' and do I HAVE to make one?'Relationship Pages' are threads that catalog the many different relationships one character has with other characters on the board. These threads are especially useful when boards have many characters [which we will end up having due to the 91 players that are needed to participate in the League] and when many threads have been made between characters.
I use my plot page to flesh out
existing or
developing relationships. As in one that already has some background to it, ie a thread in progress or a relationship that would have existed before the time of the plot. For example: Members of the same team will at
least talked to one another before, so there is already a relationship there, the details just need to be worked out and that is what I try to use these pages for.
As for the second part of the question:
Plot Pages are NOT mandatory! I find them useful, so if you do too, I want the service to be available to you. I know there are a lot of players out there who despise them because they are incorrectly used on all the 'trendy' games out there. Boards that base themselves around these pages and do little else are not what I am into, but I am a sucker for organization, so I naturally drift towards these kinds of threads.
6] Does this board follow real time?As close to real time as I'd like to get, the board will be starting behind schedule as it is. I do not have any problem playing out a weeks worth of time in a month or a months worth if time in a week, whatever feels best to the majority of the board.
7] When will the Quidditch matches begin? While we will have to wait for at least
most of each team to be filled up, the tournament will begin in February [IC time] and there will be 2
[two] matches each month until the end of August. A total of 12
[twelve] matches.
