2008 release. Best looking live-action Zhuge Liang I've seen.

I remember seeing a Chinese news conference and the actors had their videogame counterparts beside them as they were being introduced.
Naturally, it's a "DW big screen adaptation but not really" movie. Take this into consideration: we won't be laughing when people mention Cao Cao. His name isn't Cow Cow but damn it's funny. x) Imagine if Cao Pi were in it, too.. but it's Cao Cao's epic battle so Cow Pee (is that not funny? :P ) won't be in it. And hey. No Yue Ying, either?? Imagine the line-up to play her. The movie looks amazing. Doubtful it'll come here, though.. |

I got my special edition two disc DVD copy today. Of course, what to watch first, the movie or the special features?

Just finished watching it, but first, I'll say this:
PART TWO NOW, PLEASE!! *ahem* Also, if you have bought the two disc special edition (Hong Kong version), no interview with him. Just thought I let you know, but he's there aplenty!! ^_^ This movie isn't for everyone, I'll say right off the bat. It's bloody and violent. It's a live-action history lesson. If you're not big on that particular part of Chinese history, it's not a movie for you; if you love the ensemble cast but aren't too keen on the whole theme, you'll love it , anyway; if you love a couple of the actors, you'll love it, as well; if you're like me who loves history, who happens to love this particular part of Chinese history AND happens to think the ensemble cast (they all did wonderful, believe me. See? Yes, he's one reason why I bought it. You get to see him make a cute, scrunched up face as he's drying two doves after he gave them a bath, also laying low in the fields, either listening on the ground or sleeping. Either way, a short game of "Where's Zhuge Liang?" can be played) did a remarkable job, then you will love this movie hands down. Oh and don't think it's anything like KOEI's hit Dynasty Warriors franchise. John Woo went for historical accuracy. That includes Cao Cao's womanizing ways. |

I was excited to see both The Warlords and Red Cliff on Netflix. They don't have the disks yet, but at least I was able to reserve them.
I wish Japan had as strong a US distribution system as China/Hong Kong. I despair of ever seeing Sweet Rain. |

Any chance of us seeing such gems is when Asian film festivals happen, and they don't happen too often. When they do, they mostly happen in the big cities and they don't last too long, so when they happen, don't blink or you'll miss them.
Our best bet? Luckily for you, you have Netflix, but for someone like me, there be Yes Asia and Play Asia and eBay, but since PayPal screwed me over good.. :( BUT LUCK DO BE ON MY SIDE as I did find a rare gem in "Returner" at the video rental place not too far from here so I've ALWAYS been keeping my eyes peeled ever since then. ^_^ |

I'm watching a video from a segment on a TV show from Fuji TV and they're comparing the Big Guns of the Three Kingdoms era to those from the most recognisable era of 16th century Japan*, AND THEY'RE PLAYING MUSIC FROM ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS!!
*: KOEI wasn't off their rocker when they created their Warriors Orochi series. Example: upon meeting Nobunaga and Cao Cao, their respective camps said that they're alike in so many ways, and that's EXACTLY what the segment said. MUSIC FROM ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS!! AND ONE FROM ONIMUSHA 2: SAMURAI'S DESTINY!! :jumpy |
