Last time I talked to you You were lonely and out of place You were looking down on me Lost out in space
The park was most definately the quietest she had ever experienced, not even the crickets seemed up for churping their songs as they so often did. A field of stars stretched for miles up ahead, a familar chocolate gaze searching out this and that constellatiobn. She hadn't dawdled long on the streets nowadays, prefering the closed in park with its protection of trees to the open city and its marble walkways. If truth was to be told she had been avoiding him, or at least avoiding bumping into him.
Laying underneath the stars Strung out and feeling great Watch the red orange glow Watch it float away
She couldn't explain what she had felt within the past few days and maybe that was why she was sprawled out on the grass at this particular moment, hands tucked beneath her head and a light blanket across her legs, just staring up into the heavens, thinking about nothing in particular.
Down here in the atmosphere Garbage and city lights Gonna save you’re tired soul You’re gonna save our lives Turn on the radio to Find you in satellite I’m waiting for the sky to fall I’m waiting for a sign
But the man she had bumped into a few nights before was nothing in particular, he was the exact thought on her mind now and had been for the past two days. Things were so complicated and unanswered questions had been the basis for her recent insanity. She hadn't slept in quiet some time, and yet that wasn't all that strange for a vampire, was it?
And all we are Is all so far
You’re falling back to me The star that I can see I know you’re out there somewhere out there You’re falling out of reach Defying gravity I know you’re out there Somewhere out there
She hadn't known what to do when he had walked away and even though she had forced herself to be angry with him, that had eventually melted away, hurt seeping into her heart once more. Some would call her foolish, but she was unsure what she was. It wasn't like the two had made life long commitments to each other. A small word here and a small action there, nothing too extravagant, right?
Hope you remember me When you’re homesick and need a change I miss you’re purple hair I miss the way you taste I know you’ll come back some day On a bed of nails I wait I’m praying that you don’t burn out Or fade away
And all we are Is all so far
Her mother had always been the first to tell her that love was something to be cherished, not just thrown away, and in the days that followed her father's death she had seen how true the words really were. Her mother had went insane with grief, eventually driving herself to her own end. Maybe that was why she had taken so long to come around. Maybe that was why she hadn't attempted to contact him. The fear of being hurt was a great one but how could he even think about loving her? She had turned into the very thing they both hunted, both lived to see die, the same being that had killed her father so long ago.
You’re falling back to me The star that I can see I know you’re out there somewhere out there You’re falling out of reach Defying gravity I know you’re out there Somewhere out there
You’re falling back to me The star that I can see I know you’re out there
A soft sigh passed her lips as she momentarily closed her eyes, her body automatically relaxing. She could sense others in the park but frankly she didn't care. Let them gawk, she wanted nothing to do with their foolish actions, people in this town were downright weird, frolicking around like horses during mating season, was almost sickening. Even as she thought it, she knew she was being hypocritcal. She was jealous and being selfish. Everyone had a right to love and even though she had screwed hers up, it didn't mean everyone else had to go around moping playing Simon Says with the mixed up vampiress.
You’re falling out of reach Defying gravity I know you’re out there Somewhere out there

In a place so silent, surely one would be better able to hear the approach of any who drew near: the tell-tale squish of shoes on the grass or crunch of gravel underfoot, if not the periodic woosh of air being drawn inward and leaving the body in a huff of steam that would float softly to the heavens. However, there were those who could hide their presence, and it was one of said persons who now came closer with each second to the figure lounging on the lush grass, staring up at the stars.
Pausing a few feet from the sprawled woman, the shadow wavered, as if its owner was still indecisive, still wondering if it was too late to turn back and not be seen here and never have to explain their presense and just what the hell had prompted them to intrude on her space and disrupt her evening.
Finally deciding to continue on his chosen path, the young man stepped up beside her, lowering himself to sitting and then to a comfortable laying position against her, seeming to move in fluid motions, graceful as a feline. He moved with lithe flexes of his muscles, showing off for her and yet not parading arrogantly. It was a "see it? like it?" kind of display.
His pale blue work shirt was buttoned most of the way up, and he didn't seem to care about staining it as he laid back in the grass, knees bent and fingers entertwined as he laid his hands on his stomach. Just gazing up at the stars, he didn't say anything for the longest time. He made no sounds: his heart had stopped beating years ago, and even though it began a feeble patter after he fed, it had been a while since that had happened too--too long. He could feel the hunger building in his body, the bloodlust gradually infiltrating his mind. His lungs no longer pulled in breaths of air; he was dead. There was no part of his body that required the oxygen that would be inhaled were he to breath as humans do.
One such small intake of air lifted his chest as he gazed up at the numerous planets shining their light down to Earth.
"So many of them..."
Even now, he did not turn to glance at her. He stared up at the navy blanket of lights stretched over them.
"Sometimes.. starin' at them helps--helps to realize that.. what we're goin' through.. It may seem like a big deal, but it's no' such a catastrophe--naught to fash ower sae much."
He sat up and turned to her, leaning on one elbow and ignoring the dew that seeped into his shirt from the pressure.
"I canna be perfect, Mallory.. but I swear.. I c'n try to be enough to make ye happy."
His expression was unreadable, but there was a sadness in his eyes, ninety-two-year-old tears unshed as he watched her, searching for some sign of whether she would push him away or allow him yet another chance that he didn't deserve.
--------------------
"Look to the stars..." he remembered the young voice instructing. Such an old soul for such an immature body and child-seeming voice.
"What about them?" he had asked gruffly, fists curling at his sides in preparation to take his anger out physically--to find some outlet for his frustration.
"They speak to you... if you listen." The thin, soft-skinned hand had pointed towards the constellations, naming so many and yet leaving millions more unclaimed, uncharted.
Aye, the stars had shone brightly that night, opening up new worlds to him.
--------------------
A soft smile, full of the tenderness that he'd hidden slowly snuck its way across his face, lending him the charm of the young body that he was now inhabiting, stuck in for all eternity.
And now.. patience. Patience until his world was whole again.

Had it been any other time..any other place..maybe she would have noticed the familar presence sooner. Perhaps she would have more prepared for what fate had brought her way, instead she lay there idly, listening to the man as he spoke.
Hands unfolded themselves from beneath her head, and she sighed, his words slowly seeping in. What was the point of continuing on? Hadn't they already discussed this? Yet, as much as she wanted to give up, she couldn't help but like the feeling of having him beside her, his presence basking over her own. She felt secure and safe in an unexplainable way.
Chocolate gaze didn't faulter from its place above until she could stall no longer, brown colliding with blue. Unshed tears were evident as she searched his face, brows creasing with some unknown emotion.
"I would never ask you to be something you're not Andrew. What you are makes me happy."
A soft smile met her lips as a hand was layed upon his cheeks, chestnut gaze twinkling.
"Besides, I think I'd get a bit bored if you were always perfect."
Smile grew and the woman drew forwards, lips pausing mere inches from his own as gaze searched the ocean of blue, attempting to find some sort of hint as to what he was feeling.

The walk to this park had been spent searching for her aura, trying to determine where she was headed, where she had been. He had known her, even before she had changed, and thus he knew her power as if it was his own, could trace her towards where she was right now.
Now that he had found her, he hadn't expected her to be kind, to give him a second chance to confess his desires and then try, for the next one hundred years if he needed, to prove to her that he could make her happy and could do all that she needed to keep her satisfied for the rest of her years.
When she reached over and touched him, the effect was stronger than all of her words combined, and he shuddered, exhaling a breath that he hadn't needed in any case. He knew that she could not touch him and be unaffected.
"All ye ever want, ye'll have..."
He spoke softly, his own hand taking hers as he rolled onto his side beside her and kissed her soft cheeks. How sweet she was..
How could he blame a vampire for wanting to taste her?
At that thought, a bubble of anger grew within him and he let out a low growl of possessiveness. No way in hell would he allow any other to touch her, now. He could not live with himself if he let her come to harm. He had already harmed her enough, loving her and leaving her. All he could do now was promise to never do that again. Narrowing his eyes in concentration, he sent her a silent promise through his mind.
Always and forever, mo chridhe.
He leaned over her and kissed her passionately, expressing without words that he truly would keep his promise--would do all that he could to keep her safe.
