Title: Puzzle Agent
Description: Like Layton? You'll love this!

Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent is a puzzle/ adventure game about FBI Agent Tethers, as he goes to the strange town of Soggens to find out about the White House's eraser company stopping production. Think Layton, but modern and in America. It's on steam, PS3, and iPhone/iPad.
It got a sequel recently, I got it for my iPhone, first one was great, second one is good, but buggey on a 3GS.

Ah yes, Puzzle Agent... It's a decent Professor Layton clone. The story was intriguing and I liked the art style, I just wish it didn't have to end with such an anticlimax.
I remember nearly getting a heart attack when...
those Satanic garden gnomes or whatever interrupted a puzzle I was thinking carefully about. That's screamer material right there, my friends.
Yes, they do have a few cheap tricks like that.
It is a nice series, but it just isn't as good as the Layton games.

The ending was crap. Lucky found out there a sequel which hopes to answer the questions the first game left behind.

I now of it, but I've always passed.
Mostly because of IGN's review:
- "Yes, Puzzle Agent is a nearly lockstep Professor Layton clone, but unfortunately its puzzles are not as good as its inspiration’s stumpers."
...Yeah...I like puzzles and Layton games, but not enough to get disappointed.

I tend to not care about reviews now as much as I once did. Especially IGN's reviews. Or IGN in general.

Oh don't take me me wrong...I hardly read IGN's reviews since they seem to drop the score from 5 to 2 if there's even one typo in the game,
or something like that.
But I agree with them on this time.
Those vids I've seen of this game tell that it is pretty much like Layton clone.
...Except worse...

Oh don't get ME wrong. I'll probably not play this either. I've seen one Layton clone up for release already. I'd rather not concern myself with another, least of all one with a ending that people have said is bad.

Speaking of which, the company that made this is called Telltale Games. While this is not exactly their magnum opus, I definitely recommend their other stuff for fans of adventure games.
Like the newer Sam & Max games and Hector.

Just completed it... I think...
Wow, um... does the game have a secret ending or someting, or does the ending really suck so hard?

...Okay...Decided...Not even thinking of this game anymore... :lana:

Well it was pretty decent up untill that part.. and I will say that it is pretty good for an app.. so if they ever decide to lower the price of the game a whole lot, then you could try it out I suppose :)
henke37 - July 5, 2011 06:59 PM (GMT)
There is no secret ending. There is a slightly varied ending depending on if you fail the last puzzle, but it has no real difference to the story.
I have to agree, the resolution of the story was very weak.
The only secret here is a bonus puzzle if you complete the game flawlessly.
Judgemaster64 - July 5, 2011 07:16 PM (GMT)
Bonus puzzle? What Bonus Puzzle?
I already mention the ending sucks.
There is a sequel but don't know when it be up. This hopeful fixes what left of the ending.
henke37 - July 5, 2011 11:04 PM (GMT)
The sequel was released earlier this week. That is the one I am talking about.
