Since no one else seems to have taken the bait, I'll go ahead and jumpstart this section of the forum. Here's the AWE fanfic I mentioned in my response to the poll about which incarnation of Norrington we POTC fans prefer.

A few things before I post the link: First, it has, obviously, some spoilers for AWE, a couple of them major, so if you haven't seen the movie yet, you might want to wait. Second, it's in-progress, actually part of the reason I've just now started posting it on the net. Finally, you'll probably be seeing additions and changes at least every few days, since, as I said, it's in-progress.

That's about it, so here you go: http://jackdavfan692.livejournal.com/2077.html

Enjoy smile.gif!

Thank you so much for starting this section off my darling. I do love writing fics, and I am sure that at some point in the not too distant future, when I have the time off work to sit down and dedicate to eloquent writing, I shall write one, or several. But for now I am happy to keep looking forward to updates to your lovely fiction.

The fic itself is brilliance! I even find myself thinking fondly of Elizabeth at her first thoughts when she sees James has fallen. I was also fond of Bootstrap especially in the second film, and I am so glad he gets his chance at redemption. You write beautifully and I got really involved in the fiction so far, I honestly can't wait for more.

As promised, here's a more complete response to your comment (if you haven't had a chance to visit Live Journal lately, just disregard this smile.gif).

You're welcome smile.gif! At the time when I posted this, it seemed like the site needed a bit of a jumpstart. I'm glad to see it helped smile.gif!

You do? That's great, I can't wait to read some! I'm a new initiate into the writing of fanfictions myself- this is my very first one, so bear with me :}. Until recently, I've never been much interested in writing fanfics. I'd read them once in a while, but that's about it. What brought this on wasn't really anything special. I'd even go so far as to say what perked my interest in writing fanfictions was probably the very thing that gets a lot of people interested in it smile.gif. Anyway, sometime between the releases of DMC and AWE, I really developed a soft spot for Norrington. In the several months (or was it a couple of years blink.gif?) leading up to the release of AWE, me and my fellow posters on Keep To The Code.com started hearing from certain insiders that Norrington would be killed off. Naturally, those of us who were fans of the character were none too happy. The more we heard the above possibly confirmed (including in a leaked first draft of the AWE script), the more depressed and angry we got. Around that time, I started imagining various bits of dialogue and possible ways in which the other rumor about Norrington's fate (that he'd be wounded, but not necessarily killed) might be carried out in AWE. Once we learned it was a pretty sure thing that Norrington wouldn't make it through the whole movie, we were crushed. So, to perk my fellow fans up, I started writing this smile.gif. Once I began, situations, dialogue, and interactions between characters literally started pouring out of me laugh.gif, and after some tweaking and rearranging on my part, eventually organized themselves into this fic smile.gif.

Wow, thanks =}! I'm glad what I wrote worked smile.gif. That exchange between Bootstrap Bill and Elizabeth was the first thing I came up with, so I was worried it would come off as too fluffy and overdramatic. I knew from the start that he, Elizabeth, and Norrington were the characters I wanted the story to focus most on. With Bootstrap Bill, the decision was based on my reaction to how he was portrayed in the infamous (at least for us Norry fans) duel in AWE- I thought his transition from a semi-lucid, good, remorseful man in DMC to mindless slave and killer in AWE happened too quickly. Granted, I haven't seen AWE as yet (bad, bad girl! laugh.gif), so my view may change after I do, but then (and currently), that's what I thought. With Elizabeth, it was based on two things: (1) the fact that, well, after treating not one, not two, but three men so badly, it was time for her to have some difficulties that would wake her up to the error of her ways & convince her to straighten up ;D, and (2) during my "imagining" period, I came up with a lot of great dialogue between her and Norrington, so I just had to put it down on paper smile.gif. With Norrington, a big reason was, of course, because I like the character so much (as if it weren't obvious laugh.gif, wink.gif), but it also had to do with the fact that from what little I heard and read, it seemed after getting such excellent insight into Norrington's character in DMC, all further development was basically abandoned in AWE huh.gif, so I wanted to create a more complete "character arc" for him smile.gif.

Well, I think that's about it, at least in relation to the story itself, so I'll leave you with the links to the first two parts of it :
Parts I & II (I've added quite a bit since I first submitted the topic, so I thought I should show you smile.gif)- http://jackdavfan692.livejournal.com/2077.html

Parts III & IV (Apologies for the second half of this part :]. It starts in the middle and is sort of disjointed, so it might be kind of hard to follow, but give it a try- there are two sections of dialogue that I'm particularly proud of smile.gif)- http://jackdavfan692.livejournal.com/3150.html

Enjoy, and I'll catch you later smile.gif!
