How would guys like a reunion episode? I think it would be so cool. I read somewhere where the creator wrote on a message board what happened to all the characters:

- Steve and Susan didn't get married, but have two kids now, and Steve wrote a sitcom about His and Susan's realtionship and their friends.

- Patrick and Sally got married, and Sally was glad to have done something before Susan did.

I don't remember what happened with Jane, Oliver, and Jeff though.

I'd really love to see like an hour episode of all this, and them together again.

biggrin.gif

And Steve called the sitcom Coupling, I bet. wink.gif

I would LOVE a reunion episode. In fact, a would love a whole new series of Coupling, but I think that's a little too much to ask for. One can fantasize, though.

I would dearly love a reunion episode, and see how Steve is doing with life as a dad... how old would his son be by now? And I'd definately want Jeff to return. I missed him dearly in Series 4.

His son would be three by now, and however old Steve and Susan's second child is.

I would love to see Steve's parenting skills. smile.gif

Oh, that would be great smile.gif! It would definitely be a hoot to see what kind of dad Steve is biggrin.gif! It's also an absolute must to have Jeff involved *nodding*.

Exactly wink.gif. That would be cool, but unfortunately, not likely sad.gif, since Jack is soon going to be tied up doing Swingtown (unless, of course, he'd be willing to spend a hiatus from it filming new Coupling episodes, but somehow, I doubt it unsure.gif). Still, we might get at least an hour or hour-and-a-half movie out of it in the future. It was done with This Life, after all, which beforehand, seemed an impossibility as well. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed wink.gif!

Yeah, we were supposed to get a Christmas show but Jack was doing Pirates and the others were busy, too.

However, I also hope for a ten year reunion special...if Steven isn't too busy with Dr Who, that is...

Have you ever seen My Family? My mom got me started watching that show because she described it as Coupling but twenty years later. The mom on the show is even named Susan and I read on Wiki that her middle name is Beryl which is Steven's mother in law's name even though I can't tell that either Vertue is connected with that show.

There is also one episode of My Family with an assistant to the dad's character, who's a dentist, played by none other than....Michelle Gomez!!!

However, I was under the impression that Steve and Susan did get married...just not before Patrick and Sally.

Closure - official! (sort of)

Over on the "Doctor Who" forum at Outpost Gallifrey, in a "Coupling" topic a fan posted that they desperately needed closure on the series, to find out what happened to the characters after series four. As I'm sure many of you know Steven Moffat occasionally drops in over on OG, as he used to here, and he provided said closure, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek fashion!

Anyway, as the forum rules here forbid the posting of links, I hope Mr Moffat won't mind me copying and pasting his little "Coupling" coda from there:

Oh, all right.

Sally said yes to Patrick, they got married and are very happy. Especially as Sally beat Susan to the altar, and finally did something first. Patrick is now a completely devoted husband, who lives in total denial that he was anything other an upstanding member of the community. Or possibly he's actually forgotten. He doesn't like remembering things because it's a bit like thinking.

Jane and Oliver never actually did have sex, but they did become very good friends. They often rejoice together that their friendship is uncomplicated by any kind of sexual attraction - but they both get murderously jealous when the other is dating. Jane has a job at Oliver's science fiction book shop now - and since Oliver has that one moment of Naked Jane burnt on the inside of his eyelids, he now loses the place in one in every three sentences. People who know them well think something's gotta give - and they're right. Especially as Jane comes to work in a metal bikini.

Steve and Susan have two children now, and have recently completed work on a sitcom about their early lives together. They're developing a new television project, but it keeps getting delayed as he insists on writing episodes of some old kids show they recently pulled out of mothballs. She gets very cross about this, and if he says "Yeah but check out the season poll!" one more time, he will not live to write another word.

Jeff is still abroad. He lives a life a complete peace and serenity now, having taken the precaution of not learning a word of the local langauge and therefore protecting himself from the consequences of his own special brand of communication. If any English speakers turn up, he pretends he only speaks Hebrew. He is, at this very moment, staring out to sea, and sighing happily every thirty-eight seconds.

What he doesn't know, of course, is that even now a beautiful Israeli girl he once met in a bar, is heading towards his apartment, having been directed to the only Hebrew speaker on the island. What he also doesn't know is that she is being driven by a young ex-pat English woman, who is still grieving the loss of a charming, one-legged Welshman she once met on a train. And he cannot possible suspect that (owing to a laundry mix-up, and a stag party the previous night in the same block) he is wearing heat-dissolving trunks.

As the doorbell rings, it is best that we draw a veil.

ohmy.gif We were? Really blink.gif? Bummer, that would have been cool huh.gif! But even so, for those of us who were either able to watch it on TV or download it and watch it on our computer, This Life +10 mostly made up for that wink.gif.

I'm hoping for something like that, too happy.gif. Like I said in my post above, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best smile.gif!

I have seen a couple of episodes, actually, and I thought they were pretty funny. Coupling twenty years later, huh? I can sort of see that, just in the fact that the mom's name is Susan, and the way she and Ben (I think that's the dad's name) can be so sweet to each other one minute, and be trading barbs the next- that's a very "Steve & Susan"-like relationship biggrin.gif.

Really? How's that for six degrees of separation biggrin.gif?

Great info, Erica, thanks!

So typically Patrick rolleyes.gif! But let's hope for his sake and Sally's happiness that he really has forgotten ;D!

Jane & Oliver- "very good friends", huh? Sounds an awful lot like Jane's "borderline stalking" friendship with Steve wink.gif. For that reason, it's a good thing the obsession goes both ways this time around laugh.gif!

I couldn't agree more cool.gif! Ooh, kinky! The question is, which one is going to crack first? Jane or Oliver wink.gif?

Steve & Susan- laugh.gif! I wonder how much of that is autobiographical? A good portion, I'll bet wink.gif!

Hmmm..., that's probably wise, considering wink.gif. Awww, cool wub.gif. And hey, he'll finally get to do one of the things on his list (I think it was him who made "the list" unsure.gif) cool.gif- he'll be in a three-way with two women smile.gif!
