Once a month? At least! smile.gif

Last night i rebuilt the alpha1 with the developer 5111 release, now i just need to test it. The difference will be IE6/OE6/WMP9 etc. support cool.gif

*runs off to test*

Will report back later, cheers! biggrin.gif

Regards, Ben

PS. I'm also re documenting everything for my own personal references, in case i lose my work, and it's easier to rebuild.

I tested the build, i had no errors during the installation phase, just like with alpha1...
But i had an error during the installation when installing IE6... that doesn't occur on un-modified neptune as i tested last night.

The error happens when you reboot after installing IE6... explorer.exe crashes in the new build. I'm just about to test whether its something i've done to Neptune, or if it's just the developer's build itself.

*runs off to test some more* - DW i'll nail this error like the hundreds before it =)

Regards, Ben.

Ok now i know what's causing the error in the developer build i've updated when i install IE6... it's the file(s) i've added into Neptune... now back to testing to find which file(s) of the many hundreds is causing it... this is the repetitive and annoying part of development lol.

There won't be any screenshots for a while, but i am working on this more and more smile.gif Just know that development is moving forward... i'm working on neptune whilst i'm at work (my place of employment haha!)

Regards, Ben.

I've eliminated a couple more errors. One regarding the stability of Explorer and trying to integrate IE6... the other was a common one in A1 which i can't test myself... but if the error still exists then the public will report it again in A2... but i'm pretty sure it'll be gone now =)

I need someone out there to download the developer build of Neptune 5111 (the one talked about in regards to the youtube video) and install IE6 on it for me... then test if it works ok for you... go to google, type in anything... press enter. Just surf the net on it for me please smile.gif I need to hear your results and compare to mine.

Can someone also please test IE6 on standard 5111 just to confirm that it doesn't work at all (crashes upon launch).

Thanks a lot guys.

Regards, Ben

Here is a message i recently received from someone, so i thought i might show it to you all, and the reply. Why? It's regarding the project.

QUOTE
I was going to start my own project to mod Neptune into something useful, and then saw yours. I feared it had been abandoned and came back today to check on something only to find that suddenly you're back! Can I get a copy of the build you are currently working on (I assume that you made some kind of installable pack, rather than mod the ISO directly, but let me know)? I've already got Neptune. I am primarily active on BetaArchive, so if you don't get a reply from me on here you can find me there.

Perhaps I can help you with this, too, not sure what you know, but if you end up with questions feel free to ask.

Hi,

Um i don't have like an 'installer' you run on Neptune to make it better or anything, i mod the ISO. This way i can fix the installer, and make changes before SFC is active in the OS which is a royal pain in the ass. This is the best way, Neptune will be a complete and great OS right off the bat. I'm currently finalizing SP4 integration which will then allow me to nearly instantly integrate Update Roll-up 1 also. IE6/OE6/MP9 is nearly running flawlessly also in my project build, just like seen in the 5111 developers build as discussed on my forum.

I encourage people such as yourself to work on these sorts of things, there's nothing wrong with it... But if you would like to modify my project, i ask that you do so once mine is finished and over (whenever that may be) to avoid parallel projects confusion and such. I'd be more than happy to let you test my project, once i have a public release again soon.

Thanks for contacting me about my project.

Regards, Ben
