Woman Assaults Leonardo DiCaprio with Beer Bottle June 19, 2005
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was attacked early Friday morning by a woman who allegedly slammed the actor in the face with a beer bottle at a late-night party. The party was at the Hollywood Hills home of Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
DiCaprio needed about a dozen stitches to close the wound.
In a statement released to People Magazine and posted on the magazine's web site, the Oscar-nominated actor's publicist, Ken Sunshine, says:
"While leaving a small private gathering, Leo was attacked by a woman who was trespassing and had been repeatedly asked to leave the property. The attacker struck him with a glass object before being restrained by witnesses. The woman was reportedly looking for an ex-boyfriend, who she had apparently physically assaulted on prior occasions."
According to People, the altercation occurred at 4 a.m. After the alleged attack, DiCaprio was taken to the hospital by friends where he was stitched up and given other medical care. The cut is reportedly "near his ear." It's not clear whether the woman will be arrested.
Her identity has not been disclosed, but law enforcement authorities have begun a criminal investigation into the matter, according to DiCaprio's publicist.
The actor was in LA on a break from shooting of a movie titled "The Departed"...

Brando's personal effects at auction in NYNEW YORK (Reuters) - The personal effects of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando -- from his driver's licenses to a fake bloody finger -- go on sale next week in an auction that may provide clues to the life of the private, eccentric actor.
The more than 300 lots in Thursday's auction at Christie's are being sold by Brando's estate and are expected to sell for more than $1 million.
Many of the lots feature scripts, pictures, clothing and other materials from Brando's movies, including 36 pages of Brando's notes on "Mutiny On The Bounty."
Also included are a note from "The Godfather" author Mario Puzo appealing to Brando to take the starring role in the movie, a telegram to Marilyn Monroe when she was hospitalized for depression, his old wallets, credit cards and a medical alert tag listing his allergy to penicillin.
Brando biographer Peter Manso called the auction "grossly insensitive."
The actor would be "turning over in his grave" to know that his personal possessions were being put up for sale, the author of "Brando: The Biography" told Reuters.
According to Manso, Brando left instructions that his bedroom be sealed with a padlock after his death, saying, "They will steal the buttons off my shirt."
Other items up for auction include correspondence between Brando and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., "Godfather" director Francis Ford Coppola, writer Jack Kerouac, singer Joan Baez and actress-singer Barbra Streisand.
Four Japanese lacquer boxes are filled with jokes and magic tricks, including a fake severed finger. Also up for bid are Brando's garden furniture, books, several wide cotton kimonos and awards he won at summer camp in his youth. ....

Please note: Actor Sean Penn's trip to New Orleans to help Hurricane Katrina victims (his boat sprang a leak, the boat he was going to use to transport victims) is mentioned in the "Global Outlook" forum in a thread entitled "Politicizing Hurricane Katrina." Rapper Kayne West's anti-George W. Bush rant is also discussed in the "Global Outlook" forum, in the original hurricane Katrina thread and the "Politicizing Hurricane Katrina" thread. Please keep any further discussion of Penn, Kayne, and those like them in the Global Outlook forum This thread lists other celebrity-related hurricane Katrina tid bits where politics aren't featured as much, if at all. Of course, these articles mention that Celine Dion made some "anti-USA in Iraq" commentary in the midst of her donation to Katrina victims, and if you'd like to address that aspect in particular, please do so in the "Politicizing Hurricane Katrina" thread in the "Global Outlook" forum, thank you! Grandma-donna was mis-categorized.
Now, if they had a "Hottest Top 20 Over Age 400,000,000" show, yes, I could see it. But the competition wouldn't be stiff, especially since comedian George Burns died a few years ago.
I think the whole show would have to be about Madonna and her daily re-animation process, you know, getting the mummified remains re-hydrated each morning, getting Lourdes to snap the limbs out of rigor mortis that has set-in over night, having Guy unwrap her mummy bandages, etc.

I know. These idiots talk about them and their filthy excesses like they're gods or something.

Wasn't sure if this was the right forum, but they're both in entertainment, so whatever........ Peace Prize odds like Bono, GeldofU2 frontman Bono and singer/activist Bob Geldof are among the favorites to win the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize. Bono and Geldof are favored by United Kingdom bookmakers and third on the Australian bookies' list with 7-1 odds, according to published reports. The two musicians are nominated for their work to relieve poverty and hunger in Africa, including the organization of this year's massive series of Live 8 concerts. The Nobel Peace Prize is selected in secret by a five-person committee and will be announced tomorrow. There are 199 candidates for this year's prize, which can be split among three winners. The Nobel Peace Prize was founded by Alfred Nobel, with the intention of recognizing individuals who worked for world peace. It is unclear whether the committee will honor Bono and Geldof instead of more traditional nominees like anti-nuclear activists and peace negotiators. The 2004 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded for the first time to an environmentalist, Kenya's Wangari Maathai, for leading a campaign to plant millions of trees across Africa. U2 begins a five-night stand at Madison Square Garden tomorrow. Peace Prize odds like Bono, GeldofMaybe they deserve it, maybe they don’t, I don’t know, but I’m not crazy about this award going “showbiz”. Don’t know if anyone else in the entertainment field has ever been awarded this for their charity work.

For the fifth consecutive year, the hip-swiveling, pelvis-thrusting crooner topped Forbes magazine's annual list of celebrities who rate the fattest paychecks from beyond the grave.
... Trailing Presley in second place was Charlie Brown creator Charles Schulz, who died in 2000, but still managed to rake in $35 million over the past year. In third place was John Lennon, who earned $22 million, 25 years after his murder.
Eccentric artist Andy Warhol, who died in 1987 of complications after a gall bladder operation, was Forbes' fourth richest dead celeb, amassing earnings of $16 million,
In fifth place was Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel,...
Marlon Brando, who died in 2004 at age 80, wound up in sixth place, raking in $9 million.
Marilyn Monroe, who died in 1962, tied for seventh place with Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, who died in 1973. Both celebs raked in a tidy $8 million.
Cementing his status as second-most successful dead Beatle was George Harrison, who wound up in ninth place with a yearly take of $7 million.
Making the list for the first time were Johnny Cash, who landed at 10th place with earnings of $7 million and Ray Charles, who came in at number 13 with earnings of $6 million.
