Sitting chewing the end of her pencil in thought, Piper stared at her to-be painting, a tad perplexed. She was at school in the middle of Auguss due to a summer enrichment class for advanced art. She had finished her previous assignment of schedule, and so had been given the opportunity to do something of her own choice. She had gotten excited and chosen the subject of her painting almost right away, but after that she realized she had no idea how to go about it.

She had a rough sketch of the background- that of something known as a widow's walk. Widow's walks were rooftop platforms on which the wives of mariners would sit, awaiting the return of their husbands. Some husbands perished at sea, henceforth making the wives widows. The sad part was that these women would often sit and stare into the sea that had taken their spouse, perhaps waiting for him to return.

Should I show her face? Should I show her only from the back, and focus more on the vastness of the ocean? What should the colors on the horizon be? What time of day is it? What medium would this look best in? Why do not know what I want? Two slender fingers came to the bridge of her nose as Piper's head clouded with thoughts.

Piper tilted her head, as if a different angle would give her better perspective, and not just a neck crick. The intensity with which her eyes bore into her canvas could have burnt a dead leaf. It was ass if she were willing an idea to come and shatter her artist's block.
