Where has everybody gone? I've got this feelin', God, am I here on my own?
Torchwood never was perfect. They knew what they were doing, but arrogance causes slip-ups. Usually, those slip-ups were the result of orders or bad leadership. Well, no-one said working there was exactly easy and stress-free. So what if a few aliens got through the barriers? OK, so Big Ben was smashed into, but a bit of scaffolding later it was fine, right? And what about that spaceship hovering over the city and all those people that thought it was funny to stand on the edge of buildings ready to jump? No-one was hurt. Time and time again, alien problems were resolved, thanks to imperfect Torchwood.
Where's my support now, where's the ranks of the strong? In this faceless crowd, where can I belong?
Torchwood never was perfect. They made enemies quickly whenever the word slipped out. Aliens and half-aliens across the country avoided them like the plague, and they spread the word. Torchwood locked up the instable ones, the dangerous ones, the scary ones. Torchwood paid their employees to be as scared as possible. The more frightened they were of an alien, the easier it was to find an excuse to bang them behind bars. Those aliens weren’t just skulking through dark alleys preying on unfortunate passers-by however. Those aliens were high-powered political ministers in some cases. Torchwood made enemies of them all.
Because your beautiful land will soon be long gone. And the ashes of your memoirs will be strewn across the lawn.
Torchwood never was perfect. The alien ministers knew it. They hated the way Torchwood had descended into a novelty, and the employees were careless, negative and inept at their jobs. Torchwood was established to protect the planet, to be called to arms when things took a turn for the worst. Now it was an excuse to hunt aliens and treat them like animals. The aliens that worked within Torchwood were like traitors, and the humans were worse monsters than the malevolent creatures they reeled in. Something had to be done. But not before disaster struck.
Everybody's gone insane to catch a plane to help the heavens closer, They want the kingdom but they don't want the king
Torchwood was never perfect. And they weren’t when they made a dire mistake. They conducted a rough raid on a minister’s house. They had no permission, but because they ‘knew what they were doing’ they didn’t need it. They forced their way in under the suspicion he was an alien after power in Parliament. It had happened before, and Torchwood weren’t going to let this one win this time. They were disappointed however, when they found out the minister was a simple human. But what they didn’t know was he had contacts off planet. He panicked, and the beacon was activated. He would get what he wanted if Torchwood had interfered or not. He wasn’t planning on calling out so soon…but they were coming.
Cause hallowed halls are lined with walls That are cracked with delirious laughter There's no time, there's no time at all.
Torchwood was never perfect. They were a mess when they came. They brought their ships, machinery, armies, foot-soldiers, grotesque fighting creatures. They brought everything. They would have brought the kitchen sink, but they knew there would be plenty to choose from upon arrival. Torchwood had been taken out of the picture. They had been forced underground thanks to their mistake. So they weren’t prepared for when they came, naturally. It wasn’t decimation. It was a takeover. The minister had promised the planet to them, and they accepted. Unfortunately, they weren’t expecting the planet to be already occupied and conquered. They couldn’t have that. O they tore through cities, and stamped out lives. This planet was theirs, and the parasites overrunning it had to be exterminated.
Where has everybody gone? There's no time, there's no time at all. You won't survive and soon be long gone Gone
Torchwood was never perfect. The aliens assumed control, forcing the planet to kill or be killed. Some humans became slaves, some became pets, some became traitors to their planet and served the aliens like royalty, and some tried fighting back. The rebels lived in secret, worked in secret, used every trick and code in the book to get one over on the invaders, no, rulers, and are still trying to drive them away. They are only a small band however, and failure looks like their definite future. What of Torchwood? Reclusive and secluded, they ‘don’t do aliens’ anymore. They are more concerned with making it through the day than protecting others. What happens when Torchwood fails?
Torchwood never was perfect, after all.
