If you're thinking about joining this RP forum, then you must read the following rules. Not because we're telling you to, but because it really will make your lives so much easier if you just take the time and look the following topic over. Failure to read and adhere to the rules we have laid out will result in a warning and a possible ban if the admin feel it necessary. Three strikes and you're out. We mean it, rules are here to be followed.

GENERAL RULES

. no god-modding. no power-playing. no character-control

First and foremostly, there is to be no god-modding. This is a rule I will most definitely not be swayed upon. If I see a single case of God-Modding from a certain character then that character will be deleted immediately without a warning of any kind. For those unfamiliar with the word God-Mod, it simply means that you are not to go controlling other people's characters without their consent. It is forbidden to kill, speak for or otherwise control another members character. Put simply...keep your hands off other characters and on your own.

. no discrimination
Fair enough, everyone wants to have their own little bit of RP drama, but one thing we do not tolerate here on 'Never Land' is discrimination in any way, shape or form. We're not going to tolerate it at all, so don't even think about starting something up. If you have a problem with race, religion, sexual preference, etc. then you are most certainly in the wrong place. In fact you might as well just leave right now. No member of this forum should have to deal with anything of that sort, so we're not going to let a single one of you kick off. This is a one strike and you're out kind of deal. If we see a single case of discrimination against another member then your ass is banned without warning.

. profanity
If you don't know what this word means, look it up in a dictionary. Ok, basically our forum is a more mature RP forum, which means your character can curse, but not excessively. I don't want to see character's who use profanity every other word, unless of course you stated in their bio that they do in fact use foul language that often. But seriously, in real life, how many people do you know that go around with a super potty mouth all day, mouthing off at everyone they meet? You are all perfectly welcome to use it in the OOC boards as well, but once again; you don't need to have every second word a curse. Some people are offended by bad language, so please keep this in mind when you post IC or OOC.

. post length ;; two paragraph minimum
In the past I have been pretty strict on post length, but people have never really paid much attention to my demands. So, it's a minimum post of two paragraphs (7 sentences each) every time you make an IC post. And this really isn't asking much considering I've asked for three paragraphs on another forum before now. You can all put some effort into this aspect of your rp. After all, RP-ing is what this forum is all about, right? It's only fair. I can only imagine that you'd all feel pretty pissed off if you'd spent your time working on a multiple paragraph post and the person you were rp-ing with posted back with a single sentence. I know it'd piss me off anyways. So don't go making half-assed rp posts, because it's very unfair on the other person. We will be keeping an eye out for people who don't post up to standard, so watch yourselves. We would prefer that the posts be upward of three paragraphs but we do realize that this is difficult for some people. So try your best and don't just post the minimum. It's very agitating.

. read the posts thoroughly
In the past I have come across people who did not read the prior posts in a thread in which they were responding and even managed to state in their responding posts that the thread took place in a completely different forum. This is horribly agitating and slightly offensive. Every member works hard on their posts and it isn't fair to ignore what was written before you entered the thread. There will be no second chances on this matter. If you are found replying to a thread and it is obvious that you paid no attention to the post before yours, you will be banned from the site immediately. No if's, ands, or buts about it. The secret password is 'bring me that horizon'.

CHARACTER RULES

. applying for your character
Make sure you apply for the character you wish to use before you even think about starting to role play. Use a first and last name when you register on the forum, as this makes it easier for other members to distinguish who you are. Once you have registered, make sure you have read these rules fully, and then head on over to the 'applications' forum. You'll find a character application form that we would like you to use in that category. Make sure you fill the form in completely as the admin will not accept uncompleted applications. Once you've posted up your application, an admin will look over it to make sure that everything is in order. If your application looks how it should, and everything on the form is filled in properly, it will be moved into the accepted forum, then and only then can you start roleplaying. If we see people posting and they have not yet been accepted we will give you a warning. After three warnings, you will be banned. no questions asked. DO NOT POST YOUR APPLICATION BEFORE COMPLETION. If you do so, your application will be deleted. If you need a place to store your unfinished application, there is a notepad on your control panel for just such purposes. Thank you.

. canon characters
If you wish to play a canon character, please keep in the mind that you must be active with said character. This means that you must post with that character at least once a month. Granted, there will be extenuating circumstances for those who post in the 'Leave of Absence' thread. However, if you are present and you are simply not posting, your character will be revoked after one warning. You will not receive a second so please keep this in mind.

. original characters
If you wish to play an original character then by all means do so. However, due to the posting restriction on canon characters, we here at the World that Never Was have also applied one to our original characters as well. Original Characters must post at least once a month in order to be kept. We want our characters to be active and not simply collecting dust. You will only receive one warning if you fail to heed it, your character will be revoked. All of the extenuating circumstances for this rule are the same as above.

. mary sues & gary stus
We all know for a fact that no' one in this world is perfect, right? Which means that even in an RP, even though most RP's are an exaggeration, no one is perfect. You're welcome to give your character's good traits and plenty of skills, but you have to try and give your character's flaws as well. If this is hard to do, then tough, you obviously don't have an imagination and we don't want people who don't have an imagination. Just try to think of flaws you can give your character, even simple things count like; having a short-temper, drinking too much or being addicted to drugs. Not everyone in real life has a rosy existence, and not everyone in an RP does either. But just because tragedies in people's lives are welcomed, I don't want to see all the kids on the forum orphaned, raped, abused, kid-napped, etc. The idea of creating a character is to make him/her original, not like every other Gary and Mary already registered here.

. pregnancy and death
If you have either of these in mind then you will definitely have to PM an admin about it. And then we'll all have a big discussion about it and decide whether or not we think your story is appropriate. We're not going to be allowing too many people to start killing off their characters, and having babies will probably be a no-no unless it works in favor of a sub-plot. It's a roleplay, and although we know that people do have babies nowadays, there aren't going to be any sudden outbursts in babies. So, we will let one or two people have babies, and with the death issue, if you have a really good plot/reason for doing it, the admin's will consider it. And note, we don't work on a first come, first served basis for having kiddie-winks. You have to have an interesting idea to justify why your character would be having a kid in the first place. And if we see people having kids without having asked the admin, you'll receive a warning and your posts will be deleted.

. i just want to make love to you
This is a subject that we're more or less decided upon. Your characters are welcome to engage in sexual activities, but if you're going to be graphic; make sure you notify the admin of any thread's that contain sexual content so that we can mark the thread appropriately. Alot of people who RP on this forum will be alot younger than others, so we really don't want to be corrupting the minds of innocent youths by having them stumble across a steamy session between characters.

. one more hit, then that's it
Drugs. What can I say? On occasion, some characters may well turn to drugs and other stimulants to keep themselves entertained. You're welcome to have a character who is hooked on drugs, but be advised that the same rule for profanity goes for usage of stimulants as well. People do not take drugs every single minute of the day. For starters, if you happen to snort cocaine, the effects can last for a good number of hours before you need to do another line or two. So use your heads on this one and just try and be sensible. Though your characters may well be off their faces, we know for a fact that you probably aren't and that you're capable of using your brains, so do it.

. character age
Because Never Land has fallen into darker times and is becoming very dangerous, no characters under the age of thirteen will be accepted. You may have them any age above that as once in Never Land you become immortal until you leave, but you may not have them younger.

CHARACTER DETAILS

. signatures
I'm sure you've all seen signatures and icons on other forums. Here on Never Land, we're giving you a choice. You either can have a single signature that is up to 550x200 (pixels) or you can have up to eight 100x100 icons and everything must be aligned to the center. We don't care if you think that's harsh, we actually think it's a pretty fair deal, so don't moan about it, deal with it. Make sure you stick to this rule in particular, because we will be coming down on you like a bitch if you misbehave. And if you're going to use icons, make sure there's no more then two rows of them, because any more would just look too big. So make sure you have a nice set and everything will be good and anything bigger then 500x200 will be removed and a warning will be given. We don't want anything that stretches the forum, which is why this rule is in place.

. character accounts
When you are registering make sure you sign up with a first name and a last name. If we have to change the name for you, we won't be very happy. We have enough on our hands keeping the forum in order and going through applications without having to change people's names for them. So, make sure you're dead certain on the name you wish to register with, because; 1. changing people's names takes wasted time that we could use doing other things on the forum, and 2. because it show's us that you didn't read the rules. So make sure to follow this one correctly. A good example of this is Maddison Parks and a bad example is, bigbutt115. Also, you must have a different account for each character that you play. And you can't have character names that exsist in movies and/or other media. You can't pick a name from a movie, such as Harry Potter. Thanks.

. character limits
You can make up to eight characters on this site. However, we really don't want people taking on more characters than they can handle. If you can't handle more than one character, then my advice to you is; don't take on anymore than you can handle. Simple, no? We really do want everyone to be as active as possible, and if you have too many characters and you're not good at having multiple characters, this means you're going to be inactive with some of them and we don't want that. If you want to have more than six characters for any particular reason, contact an admin. Make sure that you've shown that you're active with the other characters you own and we'll consider it.

. avatar claim
When you're reserving a celebrity, please make sure you sign up within three days, using that reserve. If you have failed to do this, we will remove your claim and open up the reservation again. You must vary the claims in which you want to take up. Like don't reserve two or three well known people and hog them. Use some lesser known people and give other people a shot. Any celebrities are welcome, however we do not accept any of the following; Cartoons, Manga, Anime, Drawings, Sketches. Please make sure you use the CODE tags when you're claiming as it makes it easier for the claim to be added to the list. No CODE, no adding, and that means your celebrity is still up for grabs.

ADVERTISING RULES

. avertising rules
No advertisements anywhere except in the specified forum. Guests may advertise as long as they advertise "Never Land" on their forum. Everybody knows what the sweet old linkage section is for, and everybody uses it. So, feel free to post up an ad for your own rp forum, and make sure you advertise us back in the process. Just remember though that any threads with broken links or links that feed out to a website of a risque nature will be deleted without notice. And, all of our lovely guests are welcome to post in here too.

Right, we've laid down our law, and we really do expect you to abide by it. If for some reason or another you decide to ignore any one of the rules we've listed above then you'll be warned. If we have to warn you more than three times, then you'll be banned without warning from the forum. . the admin is your master
This one is pretty obvious. If an admin asks you to do something, you do it. If an admin asks you to edit something, you edit it. If an admin asks you to stop doing something, you stop it. I think you all get the general idea by now. All of the administrators around here are boss, and whatever they say, goes. There is to be no moaning or whining about this.
