' ' one man's trash . . .
Some might say that treasure is what brings the most value into your holdings. Treasure is jewels and gold. That it's jewelry and fine materials that are rare and valuable. But treasure isn't always silver and gold, mate. I'm sure you've all heard that one before too. It's the truest quote I have ever heard. Treasure can be many different things depending upon the person. Treasure could be the love of your family, it could be the gold tea set you have sitting in your hutch. If you haven't guessed by now, this tale is one of treasure and adventure. But it's not as one might think, for the treasure in this tale is considered by most to be frivolous and unimportant. At least, that is, except for one small fairy, looking for her own version of the golden fleece.
The Thirsty Desert was a very dangerous place to be. After all, one step onto its sands and you would find yourself parched, sweating, and in need of some serious water. It was for that exact reason that few people ever traveled there unless they were flying overhead. Like fairies for instance. Even they tended to leave the place alone. But every now and then a particularly adventurous soul would wander into this dangerous territory in search of treasure and a good tale to tell.
One such case began when a little fairy, unusual as she was, heard a rather interesting tale. The one fairy, born of Never Land, unlike the others, was sitting on one of the branches of the Home Tree in Pixie Hollow, kicking her feet back and forth as she watched the other pixies go about their daily routines. The red headed fairy had already done a shift with the clothing talent fairies and had nothing else to do for the day. She was a spider silk weaver, one of the best, too. Her parents had named her Snap Dragon, and it was very fitting. For Snap, as her friends called her, was just as lively as the flower looked. Today, she had decided to wear her favorite blue spider silk dress. It was the dress she was given when she had finally come into physical maturity. It was truly her favorite dress as well. Along with it she wore her favorite spider silk slippers, dyed to match the dress. That outfit always made her feel pretty.
It was sitting on that ledge of the Home Tree that she overheard a couple of fairies talking about a rumor of a pirate ship that had been spotted in the middle of the desert. No water anywhere in sight, but it was there. The fairies said that it was a transporting textiles and other useful things when it appeared. This caught Snap's attention. A treasure hunt was exactly what she could go for on a day like this. A little adventure.
Her wings instantly went to work, lifting her from her perch and carrying her away from the Home Tree. She stopped by Havendish Stream and filled a fairy sized water skin for her journey. Her glow was brighter than ever for she couldn't contain her excitement over this new expedition.
