Diesel awoke from his dream, finding himself wishing he were back in it. Though it was a horrible tradgedy of a nightmare, he would rather retreat back into it's horrible confises than go to the coucil meeting he was a part of this morning. He turned to see Naunet lying next to him. She was such a beautiful woman, and she wasn forced to share abed with him every night. She forced to lay there, instead of with someone she could truly love. Sometimes Diesel felt guilty, like he were the one holding her captive, but he couldn't let those thoughts consume him. He sat up, the strong morning current pulling him slightly from the window.

After living under the ocean for so long, the current became nothing to you, but some mornings, especially those following rough nights, he was more sensitive to it than others. He regained his strength and swam across the room to the window. He could look out and see, even in the utter darkness, the merpeople swimming to and fro beneath him. It was eraly and the large crowds had not yet left their homes, but there some nonetheless, preparing, and setting up their shops for a day's work. Diesel wished he could be like them. Worried about work for the day, and not the building plans for a new reef structure on the outskirts of their little kingdom. He didn't want to be a politician, and he never had. But, due to tradition, he was being forced to follow in his father's footprints, despite his extensive schooling and experience in the medical field. He was only allowed to practice when their little form of congress wasn't in session. These same ridiculous law compelled he and Naunet together, making them into the married couple they never wanted to be.

Diesel, though, should not be misunderstood. He love Naunet very much, but he only wanted to see her happy, and she was claerly not at the moment. She was always confined and shackled to him. He pitied her immensely, and did anything and everything he could ease her suffering. Yes, he too was shackled, but not in the same way. Diesel was not a free spirit like Naunet. Diesel would be able to go on in this smothering environment, for it was in his nature to go on. Nuanet on the other hand, he felt would die if she were trapped here for forever with him. She could go on for a time, but he felt, like some giant pillow over a child's face, she would eventually die. He leaned on his knuckles, sighing out the window as his great tail flicked back and forth in aggitated manner.

Life had changed not that long ago. Naunet was going about her life perfectly fine, helping her dad with military tactics - though she didn't know why they needed them, they hadn't been in a war or battle in a hundred years at least - and finding ways to stay on land for longer and longer periods of time. Then not too long ago, her parents decided it was time to bring Naunet's head back under water. A betrothal. When Naunet had heard she was betrothed she wanted to hang herself. The worst part was that it was to her best friend, Diesel. It wasn't that she wouldn't want to live with Diesel the rest of her life, she loved him, she truly did, but it bothered her that her parents not only destroyed her life, they destroyed Diesel's. Now Diesel would never get the chance to find true love. He would never get the chance to be with the gender he preferred, either. Stupid parents!

Naunet closed her eyes. She'd been awake for the last few hours, and just now decided to close her eyes and attempt to fall back asleep. She had had a nightmare earlier, that being the reason she woke up so early. It wasn't a typical nightmare, you know, people scaring you half to death. Instead, Naunet and Diesel had gotten married like their parents planned, and on their wedding night, Diesel said he hated her for ruining all his chances at finding love. It would kill Naunet to hear him say he hated her. He was her best friend, and had been since she was born, even though he was thirteen years older. In mermaid land that wasn't a big difference. Fortunately, when she fell back asleep for however a short while it was, she had a dreamless sleep. A peaceful sleep. Nothing to ruin her day when she woke up again. Which would be soon, as she stirred in her sleep when she felt the body next to her getting up.

Deep blue orbs slowly opened and looked around the room. How long had she actually slept that second time? Diesel was over by the window, she could hear him sigh. Naunet gracefully slid out of the bed and swam over, hovering just behind him before resting her chin on his shoulder. "Morning, Diesel," she said. Naunet hadn't added a 'good' in front of that morning in a long while. What was so great about mornings anyways? Especially right after you wake up? You don't know if a morning is good or not until after it's over. That's just the way it was. This morning, though, Naunet was determined to make good. No being depressed or pitying yourself. She and Diesel would go out and do something fun. But what? He wasn't like her and loved land. Well, they could go hunt for lost treasure in the ocean. There was always plenty to be found. After all, that's where the majority of all treasure was. Lost in the ocean. "What do you want to do today?"

Diesel felt Naunet get out of bed, though she was across the room, and listened to her swim over to him. Being underwater wasn't like being on land. A disturbance across the room could be felt a few yards away, unlike with air. He turned to look at her slightly, out of the corner of his eyes, and smiled for her sake. He would always smile for her sake. He turned to face her, looking down at her due to the height difference, and met those blue eyes that matched his. His mother had told him often that she wanted grandchildren, and that he and Naunet would have beautiful babies. As he looked at her now he had no doubt that no matter the father, her children would be beautiful.

"Morning Dear." he said, placing a kiss on her forehead gently, as he always did in the mornings. Diesel loved her very much and only wanted the most happiness for her. He hoped his charades were enough for her. Her smirked. "Anything with you." he knew what she wanted. She wanted to go ashore and explore the forest around the ocean. He might go with her would she ask him, though his level of anxiety would sky-rocket considerably. He would occasionally walk with her on the beach, letting the sand much between his toes uncomfortably, but ignoring it and enjoying her company nonetheless.

"Though we should probably get something to eat first." he said as his stomach growled in protest to any kind of exercise before consumption. Diesel was a big merman, and a big human when he so decided to be one, and he was most definately a big eater. Food did not go uneaten around him, and he despaired when he saw any go to waste. More likely than not, Naunet would get more food than she would eat, and he would finish it for her. He wasn't picky.
