Within the realm of MSI, there are essentially five different categories that your characters could fall under, granted they have a legitimite history that coincides with the already established history of this universe, as well as the current plot.

Below are the groups, as well as a categorized post giving a little information on each race. If any further questions arise, please PM me with them and I will do my best to provide the answers.

MENDECANT SURNATUREL PERSONNEL


MSI is home to the collective of souls known as the Mendecant Surnaturel Personnel.

They are the warriors in the battle against the imbalance of light and dark in the dreary new world of Nebula. The Mendecants, as they have been called for centuries, are diving into two basic categories- investigators and resourcers, all following under the command of the Mendecant Superior Antony Piers and Chief of Investigations Martin Cook.

Investigators
The investigators are those that work in the fields, physically tracking down the demons of the world in the hopes of a better tomorrow. They are trained in hand-to-hand combat more intensely than the resourcers and are educated in dealing with the public, earning their names as Mendecants {storytellers} by telling the stories to somewhat lessen the true chaotic nature of the hunts to those that still refuse to believe.

Investigators always work in pairs and are partnered with those they will work most efficiently, as a unit, together. Most report first to Head Investigators, Raelin Lorcan and Marcus Trellan, and are only sent to Chief of Investigations Martin Cook when necessary. Rarely do any of them hold a private session with Mendecant Superior Antony Piers unless it is of the most dire emergency.

Resourcers
The resourcers, for the most part, tend to do more work behind the scenes, but always accompany the duo of investigators on long-term cases. Each resourcer is assigned to a partnership of investigators to provide background information and detailed explanations as necessary.

Skilled in research and development, folklore, and deductive reasoning as well as being fluent in many foreign languages and history of the world, along with many others talents that complete their job description. They are often former professors, hackers, computer programmers, and even students and authors that have passed the tests and been selected personally by Antony or other members of MSI.

Though not as intense, they are also trained in self-defense should the need arise and are trained in weaponry. The resourcers first report to the head of the division, Danae Walker, and only if necessary are they referred to Mendecant Superior, Antony Piers. There is a smaller hierarchy among the resourcers, and with no room for error, the consequences are far more sincere than those placed on the investigators.

DREAMWALKERS UNITED


They walked the earth for centuries, hapless children created by Morpheo. He was the first, the incarnate of Morpheus, the god of Dreams. In the beginning, there was to be only one. One man, the genie of the old world, to grant the wishes and dreams of those that could envision them. It was meant as a progression, to bring about the changes of good in the world, but as with all power, the darkness soon faded in.

Morpheo, the first DreamWalker, discovered a way to make another DreamWalker, and then another...He had promised, sworn, upon his banishment that he made only one, but it was far from the truth.

Draco, the second son, so to speak, was the first one to be created by Morpheo. You now know this man as Drake Morpheus. He was the strongest and also immortal, because of the division of power that occurred during the transformation, but unlike Morpheo, he was far purer of heart and mind. Morpheo always told Drake the secret of creating others, but without the aspect of immortality that Morpheo had been able to bestow.

Morpheo made others that were immortal, and once Morpheo was sentence to his imprisonment beneath the River Styx, the other DreamWalkers began to wreak havoc in small doses, stirring up trouble and tipping the natural balance of the world with their granting of wishes and sparking of desires. Most of those in existence were immortal, created by Morpheo because Drake held his power in high regard, careful of those he granted his power to.

In an effort to bring some sort of unity to their kind, Draco sought them out in later years. Those that he found either joined leagues with him in the empire of the DreamWalkers or were terminated to save another soul. Those that had been immortal and were then stripped of their powers suffered the years of age that they had avoided and died instantly. their full age becoming apparent before the dust carried them away.

Some, posing as ordinary humans and born of forbidden unions among the DreamWalkers and humans knew nothing of their powers. These were the ones that Drake searched for the most, to teach them the right way before the world had its chance to corrupt them. He decided if they were pure of purpose or tainted, and based upon his decision, he either took them under his wing or stripped them of their powers.

After the alliance of the DreamWalkers and MSI, it was realized that more would be needed, and so Drake set to the task, carefully creating more DreamWalkers, training those of the good side that already existed, and working with the other forces of Light in the world, the Avatars and MSI, for a progression of good.

Powers:
    -Telepathy
    -Levitation
    -Astral Projection
    -Clairvoyance
    -Alteration of Time
    -Granting of Wishes
    -Allowance of Desires
    -Forseeing the Future

DreamWalkers can respond to those that call upon them, and even those that do not, acting as a glorified genie. If it is for the good of all involved, they will approach the person themselves, but if the future is misleading, then it is only when they are called upon that the DreamWalkers will appear.

With the ability to see minimally into the future, DreamWalkers can see the repercussions of granting the wishes, but even the future can appear fuzzy. Only the person that called upon the DreamWalker can ultimately decide, and only then if the DreamWalker deems it safe for all of mankind. Some things have horrible consequences when altered...And once sealed, the deal cannot be undone.

It is a rocky ledge that the DreamWalkers stand on and only those of the soundest mind and purest heart can be the granters of life's dreams.

If you choose to become a DreamWalker, you will be among the leagues of DreamWalkers United. If you choose to be immortal, know that there are very few. Despite your age, you cannot and will not grant wishes or bring forth desires without first consulting Drake Morpheus, the leader of DreamWalkers United. The same goes for those that are not immortal, and created by Drake himself. You will answer to him and there will be no room for discussion on this matter.

HUMANS

Ah, the humans. Do I truly need to explain this one?

No? I didn't think so...

But I will, just the same, for clarification purposes.

The humans are your average everyday people, whether good, bad, or neutral. They do not work for MSI and are not affiliated with DWU or the Avatars. They simply live withing the realm of the new world- Nebula.

Most of them hold normal jobs, if they work at all, and are often employed at the hospital, Dementia, City Hall, the normals Police Station, or other typical establishments. The select few maybe be groundskeepers of the few remaining parks and cemeteries while some may work for the rare place of higher learning in Nebula.

Among the humans, there are those that believe and those that do not. No matter what occupation they hold, most pretend to know nothing of the dark supernatural forces staring them in the face, and choose wholly to ignore the myths of the past that have shaped the world into what it has become. They are seen as the guarded innocents, and are protected from the truth as diligently as possible.

Those that do believe either fall in as enemies or allies to MSI, DWU, and the Avatars. Often times, they are officers of the law or doctors of medicine that offer aide to the supernatural agencies when needed. The cemetery keeper is also an ally of MSI, as well as Greer Maddox, while Blaine Cavan is a sworn enemy.

Whether good or bad, the humans are essential...They are the reason for the centuries of chaos, after all. It was their happiness that began the reign of the DreamWalker and their impending destruction that brought about the forces that now exist within the world.

AVATARS OF THE ELEMENTS
(This is the most in-depth of the groups. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.)


Since the beginning, they reigned in one form or another, over the four main elements of the earth: Earth, Fire, Air, Water.

They were four entities, holding power over the elements of the world, and walking among the gods to exact their power. Granted the gift of immortality, they wandered the earth for centuries, but as mankind progressed and the ways of the gods fell to the side, they were no longer needed on the front-lines of the world. Taking a backstage position, the Avatars of the Elements vowed to rule from the shadows and slowly faded into the background, into the depths of the world. From time to time, the Avatars did show themselves to the world, but normally, this was only in the event of a natural disaster that required them to calm the masses in order to restrain their elements if the powers they exacted became far too harsh for circumstances. You see, the elements have a mind of their own; it is merely the Avatar's place to intervene and master all aspects of the elements.


Time marched on, and as the gods of the upper realm felt the darkness shifting out of control once again, they were called upon to emerge, this time in human form. Their personalities and appearances reflected the power that they held.

The Avatars were told of their purpose once again, to aide the Mendecants in any way possible. As the alliance of MSI and the DreamWalkers came to pass, the Avatars also promised to aide the entity of DWU as well.

Before the Alliance and their reintroduction as humans, the Avatars were secular, forbidden to love humans and DreamWalkers. They could only call upon their own kind, and even then, love was frowned upon. They were to live for their purpose, and nothing less.

With their humanity came a great responsibility. They would need to strengthen their numbers. That is when the Gods brought the Avatars of the lesser elements forth. Some were merely graced with their powers, waking one day to find that they could manipulate the shadows, create steam, or bend the elements of the earth to their will. Others were the children of forbidden unions between the Avatars and either the DreamWalkers or humans, while some were children of fruition and purpose, the offspring of two powerful Avatars.

As Nebula came to be, all contained within one world, their presence became known. Those that believed were those that held the powers to control the voids and elements of the world.

The original four Avatars control the four main elements while the gifted others control a small subdivision of the major element.

Water:
    Tides, Ice, Steam, Snow, Rain, Liquid Control
Fire:
    Flame, Heat, Lightning, Electricity, Creation, Warmth
Earth:
    Metal Ores, Dirt, Trees, Wood, Plants, Shields
Air:
    Shadows, Wind, Evaporation, Thunder, Flight, Light
These are just the basic singular elements that any other Avatars after the First Four can control. Those that came after the original quartet posses the ability to control certain other elements, but due to the restrictions put upon all future generations, they may only master one area, though they may possess the capability for others.
Omniscient and omnipresent, the First Four of the Avatars searched the world for their wayward sons and daughters to complete their ranks.

Once found, they are brought to the Avatar Alcove and taught the ancient ways of an Avatar. Ability and aptitude worked hand in hand, but passion and duty surpasses it all in their world.

UNIQUES AND FAMILIARS


The most versatile of the world, these hold the ranks of those half breeds and "unique" situations. Those claimed neither by the branches of MSI or the Human League, nor possess the talents of a DreamWalker of an Avatar are place here.

Demons, vampires, rogue Mendecants that no longer serve MSI, and even those of a mixed background of once forbidden unions are found here. If you can dream it, then it can certainly happen.

Please note that if you choose to create a character that is not clearly defined in one of the four main groups of MSI, DWU, AOE, or the Human League, then your character will undergo heavy scrutiny as he/she must not deter from the main plot in any way.
