There is wildlife on the island, populated by Cody's company. These creatures were put here specifically for the purpose of making the game interesting. Plus some creatures were already here. See the convicts opponents aren't only each other.

However, animals aren't always foes either. They can be prey. Are you hungry? You're going to need to catch a few of these critters if you can't find any fruit. Of course, better hope you have matches or something, because it'll be gross to eat raw.

Plant-life? All plant life is here except for ground-grown fruits and vegetables. That includes Poison Ivy and Marijuana. So guards be sure to point out if you spawn any important plants like Poison ivy, fruit trees, etc.
