Okay, this is a work in progress for a Harry Potter role-playing site in which I'm supposed to post something for a cannon character I've never played before. Feedback is greatly appreciated!!
~~~~~~~~~~
An empty house stood upon a great hill, overlooking a large sprawling lawn which was in dire need of cutting. The branches on the trees scattered about the grounds sagged with what appeared to be sadness. If such a thing were possible. They had not been properly tended to in a year, not since the mistress of the house had been locked up. Chained away in the basement cellar, left to rot of old age while her once beloved husband and son were off doing their duty to their master. The one they loved more than her.
Breaking twigs, de-housing leaves, and causing the tree branches to sway side to side were only some of the things a ferocious wind did to the area. There was a small pop and the wind died down, revealing a cloaked and hooded figure at the base of the path leading up to the disheveled house. The figure, now identifiable as a male, hurried to the door of the house, which opened with a tap of his wand. It snapped shut behind him, and if someone had been outside it, they would have heard the click of the lock.
Carpets muffling his footsteps, the person made his way upstairs to the master bedroom, which was now his. He threw his cloak on an arm chair and lit a candle for light. After testing the bed for comfort, bugs, and anything else, he began opening all the drawers, cuboards, and other places where things could be concealed or hidden. He pulled out everything in them, making sure nothing was out of place, and then put it all away again. It was time to see what was left of his childhood home.
Draco Malfoy walked quickly down the hallway, looking in all the rooms for anything out of place. He found nothing wrong. He moved downstairs and checked in the sitting room, kitchen, dinning room, and game room. Again, nothing was amiss. Time to do what he was dreading most. Time to see his mother.
Either she would rejoyce at the sight of him because she had forgiven him or did not know it was he who had locked her up. Or she would be angry because he had locked her up or because he hadn't been to the house in over a month. He had left her with plenty of food, water, and warmth, but she could still be angry. Well, she would just have to learn to accept that he was a Death Eater now, just like she'd always wanted. His first duty came to the Dark Lord, and if that meant not coming home for large periods of time and locking up his own mother, so be it.
The boy shook his blonde hair back from his pointed, once pale, now paler, face. His eyes had dark circles beneath them, set virtually permanetely from all his late nights of worrying. He didn't think he would ever get a full night's sleep again. Draco felt beads of sweat begin to appear on the palms of his hands, like they always did when he was nervous. He walked slower and slower, he was almost at the door. He took a deep breath and placed a porcelain white hand on the doorknob. Malfoy was about to turn it when he stopped. He couldn't do it.
Draco had never been brave, he was a Slytherin, not a mudblood loving Gryffindor. He wasn't known or commended for bravery like stupid, perfect Harry Potter. He was much smarter, he stayed away from danger. He knew when to run. Draco just couldn't face his mother. Couldn't stand for her to be dissapointed, couldn't stand to look at her face and see what he had done to her. What he had put her though. The boy turned around and ran back up the stairs, through the kitchen and main hall, all the way up to the master bedroom, now his. I'll do it tomorrow. He told himself. But even Draco knew it was a blatant lie.
Wow! All your work is good but this is great. It's written in the right style for a Harry Potter book, as if it's an actual extract by JK Rowling. What is this role playing site you wrote it for by the way?
