Oh goodness, sorry Mat, couldn't resist. "Invading" fellowship blogs makes for a good study break. Cana tried something similar way back when...

Now onto something perhaps less random:

Do tell... what "projects"?

QUOTE (One T Mat @ Nov 21 2006, 01:02 AM)
what happened to them?

Make it sound like Cana's extinct.

If you mean the videos, cameras and what not, about 2-3 years ago we had some video contest where teams chose a parable or some Biblical event and acted them out, making whatever "modern" modifications they wanted. The teams were to film their skit, or whatever you might call it, and make even more modifications on the computer to make it as flashy as they wanted. The videos were then presented the fellowship and as with all fellowship contests, everyone wins. Apparently, it was a big success since everyone enjoyed it so much and the Core (think it was my year) decided to make it an annual tradition. However, as Cana got larger and required more teams, it eventually fell through because of the increased demand for enough video cameras and laptops for video editting.
Other than that, there's always the annual Cana Camera Bash. The cost for this was not as bad since all we needed was several disposable cameras and some with the time to scan the pictures (or in some cases, we allowed the use of digital cameras only if you brought your own and understood that the church would not be liable for loss of the camera if it was misplaced or stolen during the course of the event). To my knowledge, the Camera Bash is still up and running.

Now, what I meant was an ongoing fellowship forum. Again, 2 years ago, Handshakers fellowship set up a fellowship forum AND website. No names, there was someone who was extrememly skilled at webdesign and flash who wanted put all this together. However, in the early stages of it design and usage, studies piled and the website was abandoned both because of its lacking in updates and in sufficient traffic. The forum on the other hand did could update itself, the administrator status was shared so that the fellowship would not run into the same problem as with the website, and all seemed bright and well. What happened afterwards, I am not quite sure (it was mostly some phenomenon of mass school exams for the entire fellowship), but the traffic on the website abruptly came to a halt and it too was shutdown. Various other attempts were made at reviving the Cana forums, but they failed, possibly for the same trafficing problem.

Soooo, yeah, that's the long version. The short version... is too short.
