Bishop's only response was to step back into the doorway and call out: "Computer, restart program." He knew Sentinels, these especially since he'd programmed their behaviour into the Danger Room. They'd gop for a mutant in the open over a mutant in cover.
And sure enough, the two remaining Sentinels of that team lurched back to life and started ponderously swinging their arms towards Toad to bring their powerful energy cannons to bear. "Hostile mutant, terminate." One of them droned in it's intimidatingly soulless voice.

Toad cracked his neck backward to loosen it up. And here it went again. Third time was the charm, right? Some kind of saying that Toad didn't really know where he heard it from. Usually with him fourteenth time was the charm. Not that he really counted...
The two sentinels clunked forward, but Mortimer was already sprint hopping in a zig zag. "TERMINATE THIS RUSTBUCKETS!" he yelled out, kicking the first one in the same spot as the previous. It rocked backwards, but managed to stay up by grabbing onto the top of a building.
"F***," Toad swore. That's when the net came back.
"Oh hell no-" Toad said, shooting his tongue out and throwing it back at the sentinel before the timer went off on him. It clung to the sentinel's face, and amazingly shortcircuted the wiring.
Toad; 4
Bishop: More
Sentinels: Still zip!

Another unexpected trick, Bishop was starting to get the impression that the way to make Toad truly effective was to get him angry. Which was a flaw in and of itself, but it was definitely a step up from totally useless. Not that the rise of Toad's stock could be discerned from Bishop's face, he was as stony as ever.
Since nets had failed and the energy beams were too imprecise, the remaining Sentinel went for a more direct approach. Striding forwards and using the enclosed space of the building to try and step on Toad.

When it came to agility, Toad was pretty good. The body structure of something that hopped all the time helped with that. And his reflexes weren't half bad either. But when it came to brute strength, the green mutant may as well have been a Toad! So when the Sentinel came down upon him, Toad panicked a little. He knew if he got trapped under that thing, there'd be no way out.
He hopped out of the way, but not in time to retract his tongue at the same time. Naturally, the gigantic rust bucket stepped upon his tongue, and held it down like a leash. Toad tried to pull away.
"Thuck," he muttered. He quickly hopped over to climb up on the sentinel's back, so at least it wouldn't be able to get him in a tight spot. Thank God his tongue was extendable...

Bishop snorted as he watched the younger mutant struggle. It might have been a sound of disgust, it might have been him choking back a laugh, it was hard to tell. He didn't make a move to help in any way though. This was Toad's chance to prove himself to Bishop and maybe a little to himself as well. Besides it was all a simulation anyway.
The Sentinel tried to turn its arms in some way to bring its weaponry to bear against the target on its back. But the big robots had been built for stand up fights and to intimidate, not with flexibility in mind. There was no way it was able to get at its own back without moving its foot. But they had been supplied with a reasonable if very simple and straightforward artificial intelligence. If it couldn't get at the mutant, it would have to bring something else to bear. The Sentinel slammed itself backwards, into the wall of a nearby house. That meant its foot moved off Toad's tongue, but the Sentinel was trying to move faster than the swift mutant could.

Toad quickly retracted his tongue the minute it was off the Sentinel's foot. That was a whole new avenue of pain, and he never wanted it to happen again. And then when he thought the worst was over, he felt his entire body being crushed between a rock and a hard place, literally. Toad cried out in pain.
Thinking fast, Toad wedged himself upward and hopped onto the Sentinel's shoulder, more pissed off than ever. With one solid kick, he bashed his foot into the side of the Sentinel's head. Of course this messed up some sort of wiring, and the Sentinel fell backward against the wall.
"Take that ya big rustbucket!" Toad yelled out.

The Sentinel twitched and started to wobble like a punch-drunk boxer in a heavyweight final. But it wasn't quite out yet. It's shoulder was a target it could aim for, and so it raised one arm to fire off the energy cannon in it's palm at the pesky mutant battering it's CPU. And since the diagnostic systems proclaimed the targeting system to be unreliable, the big robot followed the programming set for such a situation and fired a wide angle blast at full power, heedless of the fact that its head was right behind Toad.

Toad didn't realize what was coming in time. All he knew was that the sentinel was on his last leg, based on the sheer amount of sparks coming from it. He didn't notice the hand or the blaster from it. And by the time it fired it was already too late. The head exploded, the impact knocking Toad to the ground, dazed again.
He groggily pulled himself up, though he hurt a lot. Hopefully nothing was broken. "Did Oi win?" he croaked.

As he clambered to his feet, Toad found himself facing Bishop's large hand, outstretched to help him get up. Despite the offer, Bishop wasn't looking too happy. But a grim, more-or-less satisfied lack of a scowl was something at least. "You need more practice, but you won. Keep that consistent and there's less reason to worry."
