I have been adding/changing something constantly, building my Inquisitorial Guard Force.

The second pic down is my in progress Special Weapons team. A Demo team for a cheap hail mary. Tiny cost for home run potential on that demo charge. These guys are going to have that SF look.

Thanks guys. The key with the berets is to get the little flip up over the left eye where the cap badge goes. It's much more pronounced the way we wear them here in the US than any other army, but to me, it's one of those things that separates a Military Beret from a painter's beret!

Anyway, that's about the extent of my GS Skills. I am working on a set of robes for one of my DAs and it's killing me.

Lol, that's the first time I have heard that! Thanks.

I will try to get them painted this weekend, along with painting my newly acquired Hell Hound.

Your =I= force looks great. The Black uniforms really brings out the special forces feel you're after and the berets are a great touch.

If you cannot do anything else than the berets with green stuff, keep practising! The berets already look great and I'm sure you'll be able to do more demanding things out of the stuff if you just keep working with it.

You know, after seeing your =I= army, I really feel like I'd want to do something for the Inquisitors too!

(Oh, man... yet another army idea waiting for me when I finish the Pact and HEs)

Good work on the figs. Keep 'em coming!

Col Hammer and dastompinata,

Thanks for the feedback. The black/grey unis with black armor choices are a combo of the look and ease of painting. My philosophy of painting for 40k is based on the tabletop appearance of the army. I know how much time I am willing to devote to a squad of guard infantry.

Uniforms are functionally painted, crisp and clean, but with no real highlighting or blending.

Logos and faces are the focal point the eyes are drawn to. So Logos are clean and recognizable, and the Faces get more attention too. These two areas are where more time is spent.

The Demo team is finally up. They are a little shiny as I haven't sprayed them yet, but you get the idea.

You gotta love the Guard - they may not be the best troops in the game, but there's so much you can do with them in regards to uniform colors and camo schemes as well as conversions.

Yeah, I love guard for this too. There is nothing like having a nice theme that you can reasonably easily convert to a lot of models. It's not blue marines, or red marines, or green marines... It can be totally different look and feel fighting forces. I just wish more of the older lines were still readily available. Then again, the plastic guard sprues let you do a lot.

Lt. Walker, I won't light source. I am very strict with myself on having uniform painting standards all the way through my armies. Can't have any squads that look like they got the special treatment, or the shaft. So, I set a standard and a theme at the beginning, and follow it all the way to the end. If I decide to do something different, I have to go back and do it all the way. I do this so i know I can finish a certain number of models in the time I will allot. I have to see progress to stay interested, so I sacrifice individual works of art for a fully painted, uniform army, at a decent standard.

I know what you mean on uniform standards, I've recently reprimed all my guardsmen and am giving them all a standard uniform - with 5 troops done exactly the same way now, it's already very striking.

There is a post CAlled 3rd DaNamian Infantry in paint in progress and some in the same title in work in progress. I am making my Vehicles the centre piece, but my infantry will have that used feel to them.

Sorry for going off topic odm.

Good stuff, odm - I like them a lot. I have a question - how did you make the female sniper in the command squad? I've been looking high and low for models to make stuff like that and I can't find anything...

Keep it up. smile.gif

I am glad you like them. She always gets lots of comments on the battlefield too. I wish there were more female IG minis, as both my favorite IG series (Ghosts and Cain) have integrated units. I may have to browse the local store at lunch and see if there are any conversions waiting to happen.
