Hmmm, doesn't seem right to be on the forum and not have any logs going, now does it?

Well, for a while (actually a very long time), I've been a little dissatisfied with army building. I've usually looked at all those minis, grey and unpainted, and I've done a silent scream and ran like crazy.

Except, for the last few months, I've been getting into Dark Heresy and Inq28. While the former doesn't need minis, Inq28 really does, so I thought, why not, I'll combine the two into one project. Mine and my friends characters from Dark Heresy, that can be formed in several Inquisitors warbands.

Anyway, enough babbling from me. Time for the pics.
First up is my Guardsman character, known as Trasken Vanghast. A veteran from the Procyon Heavy Infantry Regiment, he was inducted into Inquisitor Van Hagan's retinue after the Regiment was destroyed. After the "Old Man" died, Trasken ended up in the service of the ancient Inquisitor's successor, Inquisitrix Regina Corvanez.

The legs are from the Elysian Platoon Command squad, the arms are from the Renegade frame from Forge World. The torso is the armoured combat vest from Maxmini. Not too convinced on the head and its still PiP.

Following on from that, we have an Arbitrator, the Forge World exclusive. No idea what his story is. Anyway, the head is from the Cadian Command Squad, with a Cadian Veteran Shotgun on his back.

Anyway, thats it for now. Got a few characters I'm going to work on over the next couple of days.

Lets keep this going, shall we?

Next up are a couple of WIPs of the next couple of characters.

A sanctioned psyker. Bald and with a mouth full of dead people dentures (thanks Dark Heresy for the extra creep factor wink.gif ). So we kinda thought it might be good for her to wear a hood (to be honest I am really considering ripping off the greenstuff, clipping the head with it and replacing it with a Dark Eldar head).

A young, hive youth, basically falling under the Scum career path. Escher Juve with a small fur cloak, probably from one of the rats in the underhive.

And lastly for today, we have a character somewhat based on the Peninsula War, as in he'll be painted up like a character from Sharpe. (The conversion took less than a minute; a brand new blade, cut off the Krieg Commissar's head as well as the air tank and the connecting hose and replace it with a head from the Pistoliers boxed set)

Right, triple post, never fun, but thems the breaks.

Did a little bit more painting today, this time for a couple of Guardsmen and a young juvie (aka a desperado or Scum, depending on the system), all still in PiP. I'll be revising each character's bio as everyone settles into what the character's background might be.

So first up, Guardswoman Maddie Vallen, an Imperial Worlder (The name might change)

The "Desperado", "Little" Thrace, also Hive born (These two characters represent real life sisters). One thing I was told when I suggested the fur shawl was that it should look kinda like synth-fur, real fur would be a luxury for the nobles.

Yesterday's psyker bugged me like crazy, so this morning, I clipped off the head and replaced it with a Dark Eldar Warrior (Ears trimmed of course). Tomorrow I'll fill in the gap and do a pulled down hood to cover what was damaged.

Um it looks like your arbiter is trying to fold himself in half backwards. The DE head does look better on the psyker, IMO. Also I think that the SM scout head looks a little to big for your first gaurdsmen, but that could just be me.

The forge world Enforcer has a pronounced inward curve in the back, just the way its sculpted. Link

As for the Scout head, I do agree, and I am considering making a second version of the character using one of the Cadian or Catachan command heads.

Version 2 of my Guardsman. Still WiP, the left arm needs to be pinned in line with the hand. As much as I like Maxmini's work, the spacing on the arms is just the little bit too wide, so I'll be filling it it with a little Greenstuff tomorrow, as well as the obligatory grenages and accessories. Anyway, photos;

Looks better than the first, looks like the clip for the autogun might be bent.

Subject: Trasken Vanghast
Home World: Procyia II
Regiment: Procyon XXVI Heavy Infantry Regiment

Coming from a densely populated fortified world, the Procyon regiments are widely respected for their expertise in urban warfare. However, due to the unpredictable nature of urban conflict, not knowing what traps or enemy forces may lie in wait, the Procyon regiments employed a specialised corp of troopers. These troopers were part scout, part point men, expected explore the ruins and structures ahead of the main advance and to report back to command any pertinent information.

Trooper Vanghast is typical of this scout corp. Given the nature of their orders, the troopers were given a degree of leeway in their equipment by their officers, much to chagrin of the Departmento Munitorum official. An example would be the goggles attached to Trooper Vanghast's helmet. While normally used by the Tallarn regiments for desert combat, somehow the XXVI "appropriated" a shipment of the goggles, finding them useful for flash grenades or photon bombs.

As we can see here, Trooper Vanghast is armed with an Armageddon pattern Autogun with a Hades extended sickle clip. This weapon is quite popular amongst the Point-Troopers, due its greater hitting and penetrative power compared to the regiment's standard Kantrael Lasguns. Note as well the trooper's salvaged armour on the forearms. During the Mustela Obliteration, the Procyon troops found themselves subject to explosive traps set at chest level by the rebels, designed not to kill the troopers, but to maim and cripple them, tearing their arms to shreds. Several of the Point-Troopers took to bolting loose plasteel plates to their uniforms. As the Point-Troopers were instrumental to the death of the rebel's hierarchy, the Regimental Commissars overlooked such a blatant infraction.

Despite the XXVI's successes in the Ghearran Crusade, the regiment was reported destroyed during the Hemrien incident, with 99.7% casualties.
