Looks like you captured it nicely. Do you think the template you created is simple enough to do your small mass-production? To me so many angles and panes is a nightmare, and I never want to build more than one vehicle...I always give up on the second one :-P What do you plan for the lights and windshields (can't see them from your images)? Cheers Klaus

I usually make enough parts for a bunch of vehicles and try to do a few at a time. Would you believe I actually have 11 of my Lav IIIs completed, two half built and parts made for a few more.
I'm not making that mistake again. This time I'm going to make one and have a mold made so that I don't have to keep building the same thing over and over. Yes the angles are a nightmare and with this vehicle I didn't even bother to do them exactly like the real thing.
For windows I'm just going to add some plastic card and paint it a glass colour. For the lights in front there is a Leman Russ part that looks like three lights in a row. Only have one of them unfortunately.

| QUOTE (Lt. Walke @ Jun 28 2012, 12:40 AM) | Looking really good RKelly. (as always). I know that 8rad is working on making moulds for his Halftracks. And he is getting really good at it.
Did you still need tires for your Lavs? |
Is 8rad aka Jeremy? I'm going to be looking for a good mold man for these vehicles.
I could always use a handful of Lav wheels as I'm working on some Bisons to tow my M777s (when I make them).
Here is what I really need for this build.
A couple of the Russ vents in one of the above photos as the real TAPV has a very large vent and one Russ vent is not enough.
Some heavy stubbers with the cupolas and hatches
There is a piece from the Russ kit that looks like three lights in a row. I need another one to have a pair of front lights.
More of the new large ork trukk wheels that are in a photo above.
Assorted hatches tie downs and loops.

I like the vehicle shape and the details very much! The only problem could be the rivets, they look a bit too large. Could pass as bolts to secure up armoring plates however. The orks wheels look very nice on it.

They are the attachment points for add on armour. Tomorrow I'll add little nubs to them and they will look much better.
Though if I had to do it again, I'd use fewer circles and theyd be smaller too.

Just put smaller circles on them or use rivets/bolts from Tichy.

That's basically the Cadillac Gage, isn't it? If so, can you send me the templates?

It is the grandson of the Cadillac Gage. Which became the M1117 which was another version of the MSV then offered as the TAPV with some changes.
I dont have any templates as this time I was determined to only make one vehicle, not 14. The only one I kept was for the side. I also photocopied a photo to the scale. They are yours if you want them.

Okay, you can send the side template to the email listed on my email. Thanks.

| QUOTE (Lt. Walke @ Jul 9 2012, 12:16 AM) | | I should get you to look at making a Cadillac Cage V-100 Commando, something to used as Taurus vehicles. but I think that my stuff is overscaled when compared to yours, is it not RKelly? Looking top notch so far/. |
Trust me the TAPV is a big vehicle that would work with your stuff. The Croatians had the Commando in Afghanistan and its also a big vehicle.
I might be able to do a commando after I get my Game summit skirmish army done for early September.

Havn't forgotten about this project. Hope to get photos up soon of the painted models. Just need some stowage added and some weathering. I've also completed the remote weapons stations.

Nice looking wheels, but I like to use as much GW bitz as I can so that they look like they belong on a 40K table. And 19mm would be a bit small for this vehicle.

Love this army!! I had the great opportunity to see it in the flesh yesterday at Skirmish... and not to worry RKelly, I gave you a good painting score. Perhaps, if I keep on course with the painting on my Tau army, we could arrange a pick-up game at the upcoming Game Summit in February.
