Hello again and thanks for the c&c. Its been nearly a year now since I last posted so thought I better do a small update, haven't done a lot because I've had other things to get on with and I all ways seem to have trouble finishing off a model. I have all so started another boat, It is going to be a landing craft. Here is a link
http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopi...452#entry671260
I've built a crows nest with two force field generating pylons, I intend to have a couple of Grots up there with telescopes and have all so finished putting glyphs around the wheel house, first the crows nest.

The chains you can see hanging down originally had stays running down to the lower levels but I didn't think they looked quite right. I'm now going to use them to hang a couple of space marines. The spotlights and glyphs.

I've got a couple of ideas for the space between the funnel and giant Zzapp gun and now it's down from the shelf and in front of me I will hopefully get on with it. Any way hope you like, c&c and ideas all ways appreciated.

Looks great man. Right now the decking seems a bit bare, maybe a small raised edge along the outer sides of the deck will make it look a bit more solid I feel. A fully raised plate would look best but then it will be difficult to move models around.

Anywhooo, no slacking off, mate. This model is way cool and deserves to be finished and then receive a glorious orky paint job. It'll be the center piece of any gaming table. wink.gif

Hello again and cheers for the c&c. Hello Meph, not sure were you mean about the deck, might be a bit I haven't finished, who knows. Progress has been a bit slow of late, done a bit more on the aft deck but still not sure what to put up there so decided to get on with the cradle for her to sit in. I made a nice fiber glass one which was curved but that fell by the way side for one reason or another. I then stated to make one out of I beam. This has worded out quit well and I'm happy with it so far and have made the main two cradles.

Still a bit of bracing work on the rear one then a bucket load of rivets and nuts to finish it. They will be joined by another frame work that will be twelve inches long and built the same as the other two so they form an I shape.
When I first started this model I was toying with the idea of making it tracked like a giant land ship. So that is what I'm going to do, make the cradle a giant land crawler in its own right, that means I get to build more guns which is all ways fun for the inner Mek. The other up side is I get to build more guns. Any way hope you like, c&c and ideas welcome.

Wow, those new brackets look great!
Orky enough and quite functional and the idea to mount this on a giant crawler is mind blowing drool.gif

I'm very glad to see you're still at it thumbs_up.gif

Hello again and cheers for the c&c. Been quite a busy Mek recently, It's all ways nice when things get done.
Done some more work on the cradle

The main cradle is all but finished and I'm going to put off building all the engines, guns, fuel tanks, guns and the control cab because I want to get on with the track units so I know how much room I got to play with. I all so got on with the track units
user posted image
user posted image
I've made it symmetrical so it can be used for both sides and I've not Orky fide it or given it the looted look that is all the rage at the moment or given it any battle damage because I think it will be better of done after it comes out of the mould. From the looks of it I will need six pairs at least so making a mould was the only way forward. All so the ship is quit a heavy lump so don't really want to be relying on plastic card.
Next up I've finished the rudder and propeller and steering gubbins.
user posted image
user posted image
I've still got a bit of riveting to do and I'm also going to build a couple of water jets to give it better speed and mobility so I can avoid any chicken like attacks from above (Clause). I all so found an old photo from when I first tried to build the ruder and other stuff.
user posted image
It's from about two years ago and I can see how far my plastic card building has come along, I'm glad I didn't give because to start with I didn't have a clue were to start. Any way hope you like and c&c is welcome.

This cradle rocks!
(even though should it be "this rocks the cradle"?)
Nevermind smile.gif
The propulsion section with the rudders and propellers looks ace again. Adding some extra jets will be a nice touch....but you'll never be fast enough to escape the ATHENA smile.gif
I'll add some extra Manticores, just to gain some extra range - lol

Really a stunning built!
Cheers
Klaus

Just a quick thought.. how excellent this would look being pulled by grots and squigs

But amazing work all round

Edit... Just though sculpt a colossal squid or get a few from forgeworld give them a harness and fasten it to front of the ship.

Hello again and thanks for the c&c. I finished the track unit but was not overly happy with it, it just looked a bit weedy.
user posted image
You can see in the photo a couple of broken tracks, that's where after hours of looking at and loads of uming & aring I finely decided enough was enough and tried to rip them off. Luckily a sharp chisel soon dealt with them. I'm going to mould the main body separate to the tracks now, it means more work but I think it will be easier in the long run. I have made five pieces of track which I will use to make a couple of moulds. I'm going to need at least 320 track links so I'm quite glad that I work with resins for a change.

In the last photo you can see loads of other bits. I made them to try and beef up the older version of tracks but will still use them because they will orkafi the tracks. Any way hope you like and c&c welcome.

I know you want to Orcify your tracks, and they look great, but I also wanted to share this with you...

White metal tank tracks
Just in case you dont' want to build so many.

This is the forward end, so built an AA gun on top and underneath there's a super flamer.
user posted image
I've all so built an upper deck but I,m not sure what I will build up there.
I've started the other side and have gone for an even bigger flamer underneath but on top I have built a couple of different types of Zzap gun.
Any way hope you like and c&c welcome.

Hello again, well it's been a bit but finely got the moulds made for the track units and tracks so have been busy making them.

The track pieces are only held on with sticky tape for now, I wanted to see how they looked. In the second picture you can see some other bits I'm going to use to make them look more Orkey and because of the way the track pieces are made I need them to hide all the air bubbles.
user posted image
One I painted to see how they came out with a simple dry brush because I can't see me ever getting all this model painted.
user posted image
and a group shot, I've made ten so far so enough for five track
units which should be all I will need.

This project is right up there with Klaus his Athena flying airship, when it comes to sheer size and eye for details. I can't wait to see this orkish beauty painted.

What would really take the cake...a battlereport where the athena and this warship meet (sea to air battle).

Awesome! work Dogplug smile.gif

gain and cheers for the c&c. I've finished four pairs of the track units for want of a better name and so will leave it at that. I've got the bits for another pair but will save these for my landing craft. First up how they look under the cradle.

these are the three bits that go on top of the tracks and the square pieces are to go on the cradle.

I'm not sure what to put between the two plates and how much gap to have if any.
Any way hope you like and c&c welcome.

Really great.
I look forward to your updates!

Hello Klaus and cheers for the c&c. Those tank units are of imperial design, found them lying around so looted them. But don't worry they will soon look more Orkish.

Now that I know where every thing goes I can start on the front of the cradle, not sure if to have a cab for a driver or just more guns and have the captain steer from the fly bridge, one thing it will have is a giant death roller. I will make some other type of vehicle to go right at the back but it will be wheeled, I've had enough of making track for a bit. Any way hope you like and c&c welcome.
