I like the red flag with the white circle better than the orange one. I thought that was way cool. Did someone go all [expand your vocabulary] about it? Or are you just rotating flag colors? Or did i hallucinate the entire thing?

Really? Censored? But it was relative! Used the word nicely and properly. Fine, i was wondering if the banner got changed because people compared it to that political party that just happened to be in control of Germany during World War II. Starts with an N . . . . rhymes with Yahtzee . . . .

that said, we are working on other designs, and always up for people to come up with thier own...

and yea, word filters dont count context, just words:)

Oh I know that. Like we can't talk about male roosters, Etc. still just erks me when it is used correctly but still censors it. Anyway.

As for the flag I find that unfortunate. White, Red and Black are powerful colors artistically. Hit . . . wait will it censor that too? How about Adolf? He knew the power of good imagery. He knew how to stage a show of flags and other pageantry to look darn good. It is disturbing that just because he was originally an artist and had a good color sense, that he made a few eye pleasing choices politically incorrect for the rest of the world.

Oh well. I thought you did a good job and it looked great, but i can also see the other side of things and their complaints.

From now on, please delete posts of all imperial guard tanks and troops that look somewhat S.S like or that are reminiscent of world war II german soldiers as they too should be offensive =P I believe there are at least some officer models that are almost direct steals of what Na . . .uhm, German Officer uniforms looked like.

Thanks for the info. And as always, thanks for keeping a cool site up.

i'd be more then happy to delete everythign IG, so don't tempt me:)

we actualy discussed thier IG armies too, and what a pain in the butt it it so use them when everythign looks riechlike...

and yea the filters suck on some things, but figure this, I put in most of the filters, and i dont' think i put any in that wern't used offensivly, so if it's in there, there is probably a reason i did it:)

You must have been very quick off the mark.
I don't remember seeing this red, white and black one at all.

Being human, I now really want to see the one that caused controversy.

Well, although i didn't request that, i have to say thx for changing it. I saw the new design and went hmmmmmm...
I'm from Germany and it really kind of leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth to see such things.
And yes, i don't like all that [expand your vocabulary]-like IG stuff. I think you have so many options to do your army, so many creative thoughts in your head - why should anyone go [expand your vocabulary]-style? It's nowhere cool. It's just dumb.
I'm not saying that [expand your vocabulary]s are the devils that have been fought by angelic other men, but they committed enough bad action to not support them in any way. I dunno how to translate this, but the sentence that puts it right to the point is 'Keine Handbreit den [expand your vocabulary]s'. If you start to tolerate little [expand your vocabulary] things, where will it lead in the end?

I know that GW has sculped several models that would fit into an [expand your vocabulary]-parade army, but did you recognize from when these models are and how the look of commissars changed over the years? The first models were made by a small company with some crazy dudes who liked to play games but didn't want to spend long thoughts on any action. The new models were made by a global acting company that really doesn't want to be put into the conservative corner. GW isn't political and doesn't support thoughts leading that direction.

So, why do players do it? imho it's the coolness factor. But think about how some (not so) dumb (because they are in a higher position of the radical spectrum) people might rejoice when seeing youths that tolerate [expand your vocabulary]-stuff? 'Hey, cool, the stuff has made it to the net. Let's see how far we can go. Maybe we find some new friends that listen to us when we tell them how the world is spinning...'

I don't want to upset anyone or blame anyone here at WIP. I was glad to see the flag disappear very soon. But i would be glad if you think about it. Remember, it's really not cool. And if you still don't believe it, look into your history lesson's book.

The flag or logo in question was never red. It was a deep over saturated Orange, to be in line with the colour scheme of WIP.

It was also despite what you may think, never intended or even influenced by the iconography of the National Socialists of Germany during or before WW2.

The colour scheme has also been mentioned above as to be a good example of graphic design, using strong bold colours that work well together. The device of using a circle of alternate colour is nothing new, certainly in military iconography and design.

That being said, I think that the feelings of the board members and the visitors to this site should not be made to feel uncomfortable in any way, and if the banner could cause confusion or indeed offence, then it is best traded out for something else.

we won't be discussing the political side of this topic, it was changed because it's offencive somewhere, and while i didn't agree (it being a white circle in an orange flag really just doesn't do it for me) it does for some germans, so it's out, nuff said.

@fireball - I appreciate what you're saying. I hope you didn't think I meant I was excited by the idea when I said I wanted to see it.

I was simply refering to the human condition which makes us seek out scandal in those £0.30 celebrity magasines despite our better judgements.

Not that I've ever bought one myself. When they're lying around though its hard not to pick up and start reading
