Hey guys!

Despite 14 years in the hobby I have yet to paint an Orc. I've been tempted for a while though and bought this model many years ago. I don't like many of the models in the Orc or 40k Ork range but this one I really like. So far I've done nothing but prepare him for paint, I'll start painting later today

Now you have the major question - what shade of green for the skin? Natural, khaki, cartoony or virulently radioactive?

Hmm, you're right Jashyr.... all I can say for certain is that it won't be cartoon or "radioactive" style, as that is just not what I enjoy painting, probably something brown/greeny if that makes any sense haha

I never (or well, very rarely at least) plan anything ahead, hehe, I've decided on white undercoat but apart from that, we'll see what happens... I'm just going to take a stab in the dark here, that's how I work biggrin.gif

Ok, here is a very early WiP shot. The clothes have only recieved their basecoat and one layer of highlights so far and I am aware that the blending on the skin is bad, it will be taken care of, but this is the general direction in which I am going with this:

I am rather happy with the tone of green itself but as I mentioned, the blends will be improved (especially on his arm) and I will add more nuances of color in there too.

Looks perfect to me, I would be happy to stop there!

Love the skin tones, and I know that you say it needs more blending but off to an amazing start right there.

You always put so much texture and precision into your basing, I can see that you use a lot of natural materials in them (like the Death Korp one) but what is the actual base part made from here? looks like resin. Is it something that you have made or are these available somewhere?

Thanks!

D
