Well guys, instead of resurrecting an ages old thread to continue this army, I figured I'd just start up a new one. I've had a few new models added to the enclave since the inception of the new codex...
Oh wait a minute that's not orky enough...
Well boyz. Since we's gotten uz sum noo roolz and stuff, well, we gotz some noo bitz and wotnotz too. So wif orl deez ere gubbins we'z gonna start addin up sum mor bizness to da skwodz and wotnot, yeh? Den we'z gonna ave usselves a right whopper WAAAAARGH! across da galaxies an stuff, roight?
Anyway, as I was saying. More orks, more business and more conversions...althought I think it'll be less conversions than painting when I finally get down to it. I've got over 100 boys to deal with since I last finalised the lads off, so there's still plenty to do. And with the new lads to add to the waargh as well - plenty going on. Here's some pics of where we left off and also of what I have done so far with the new boys:

And then there's the new stuff. I've started on a mek, a painboy, a weirdboy, a little runt and I have some lootas, burnas, models to tidy up, flying gubbins to tie down and maybe to add too (since Deffkoptas ROCK now in the new codex - well I think so) and then the concept pic of a little surprise at the end:
The weirdboy is going to have bubbling ooze on the base, sorta like my lava was but a different non glowy colour...
And the orky Deff-iler (Deff dredd) concept pic:
I love that pic, and only hope I can do it justice...I'm sure I can. And then after all that, I might make another stompa, just for the heck of it, since I sold the other one.
But as it goes, the start out diary will be a little slower than with the Iron Giants. Mainly because I'll be starting up some new terrain projects soon too. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted on those, but they don't take as long as models because, well, terrain isn't as hard (well, mostly) to paint or assemble as models and other conversions are.

Well guys, you'll (hopefully) be pleased to see that I've brought you some evidence of progress for the last couple of weeks! It's been hectic so I haven't posted much progress, but it works out well this way anyways. Lotsa pics for you all to enjoy!!!
So here I bring you: HAMSTERGEDDON!!!
Not really but pics will do...first of all some WIP of the Orky defiler. I can't decide whether I should call it the Deffiler, Orkfiler, Claw of Gork or Big Diggy Stabby Fing.
And then here are some new boys - take 2 boxes of Lootas/Burnas, mix in 10 spare orks, and you get 8 burnas, 8 Lootas and 4 Meks. And I got those pesky rocket arms working nicely.

And DEEEEEEEEEEHN!
This is going to be painted up with a little sign beside the opening at the bottom of the square tube, I'm thinking of something like "Food" written on it with an arrow pointing to the hole so it tricks silly snotlings into the suction path of the Shokk Attakk Intake.

However I think the Defiler is too big - it's like 50% bigger than a standard defiler so the Deff Dredd rules wouldn't really be appropriate. Maybe I'll make a trailer on wheels to drag behind it and kit it up like a Battlewagon, and count it as having a deff roller...at least then it would be about the right size....

Thats ALOT of stuff you need to paint up... you better get to it. :P How big *is* your deffiler? Big enough to count as a stompa or what ever the one smaller is called?
I like Deffiler, but non ork players might not see a difference in name.

Ok here is where I am up to... I've gotten a lot more work done on the Deffiler but I'm stuck as to what rules to use for it. There has been a suggestion to use the Digga Stompa rules listed on Bell of Lost Souls. Looks promising and fits fairly well. Apocalypse of course.
I was originally wanting to use the deff dredd rules but the problem is...well...too big a model for too small a role... lol. I've also thought of using it as a defiler and just have the count as rule from apocalypse. And it's a bit small for a stompa.
Lemme know what you guys think, it will help to decide what weapons I add.

that thing is huge should be more of a Bigmek mini stompa type thingy id say As for guns, go with some sort of orky chain gun, they always look good, or a massive flamer, yeah that would be awesome! The other stuff looks good, I love the shokk attack guns base!

Ok, after reading through the apocalypse book as well I've decided, upon checking the sizes as scaled in the Ork Stompa bits, that this isn't too far off an Ork Stompa in size. And because I don't want a lifta droppa I've decided that the stompa rules will fit nicely.
So here is the plan: I'm going to build an armoured trailer dragged behind the clawed tractor that will contain a majority of the weapons (all the big ones basically) and the also act as the troop transport. I haven't decided if it will be tracked or wheeled. I think tracked will work better because the thing only travels at 6" a turn if I remember correctly; being a lumbering walker. Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think it travels 12"...
Anyway, here's the pics to show where I got up to today - mainly detail work adding rivets and making the buckets more "killy".
And I'll be calling it a Deff Stompa-Truck, called "Da Klaw of Gork". I think that's appropriate now.

I've done some work on the trailer but .. meh .. not happy. It looks like a frikkin iron duck! While I was building it I had another thought though - I could use the Brass Scorpion rules. I've got a few cool fluff ideas too:
A painboy and a big mek came up with an idea after seeing one of them Chaos boyz Brass Scorpions about making one that was driven by a weirdboy. Strangely enough, they managed to trap one and his grot "assistants" and hardwired him into the machine and thought it would be a great machine for the waagh! Instead the weirdboy went bonkers (more than normal), as a result of them being confined with the weird boy for too long so did the grots, so now they are crazy the weird boy is crazy and they're all dangerous to know.
The painboy and the mek thought it was hilarious watching the psychos destroy half their camp, but then realised that having a shortage of orks afterwards wasn't that good an idea. So they worked out how to sedate the whole thing and then let it loose in battle.
I'll count the apocalyptic explosion rules as "You ain't takin us alive!" (self destruct), BS3 because Grots are shooting, Ignore shaken and stunned because they're all nuts anyways, and guns as eksperimental weird boy wepons.
Anyway, enough blather:
I don't think I like the trailer. It seemed like a cool idea, but it looks like a duck. A big metal boomy duck.

On another note, I just got information today that the buyer of the Stompa received it today in no less than 28 pieces! Apparently customs opened the box and it would appear the mongrels have failed to re-pack the item correctly. As a result the stompa has been badly damaged. Hopefully it can be repaired. But it's in the Netherlands and I am in Australia. What a sad turn of events on this issue.

Ok, here is Da Klaw of Gork finished. Just awaiting undercoating now. I am still working on what the equivalent weapons are, at this point it will probably be Killkannon, Supa Skorcha, and Mega Dakka Gun. They won't be exact and there will be slight differences but I need to check up all the rules to make it work.

I don't actually play drums as a main, it's sorta a wish. I play guitar and stuff around with the drums. That cymbal is my bro in laws, he wants me to ebay it for him.
This is todays business, I've started doing some more koptas.
Now I have these guns sitting around and think they look great from the front but weird from the side - lemme know what you reckon:

a little boring from the side - what about glyphs, loose hatch plates, random patching, bullet holes, etc just to create more interest. Ammo belt feeds might also look good.
also the sign to attract snotlings to the SAG ammo tube should read "FUD" instead of "FOOD"
p.s. the dread is amazing - where did you find the inspiration picture?

Yeah I was putting the guns there to see how they worked. They need work to make them orky, but I'm gonna dump the idea. I only like how they look from the front, so I think I'll build a smaller mini-gun design for the sides or maybe I'll build it with rocket launchers.

Ok, here's a small update and a link to the data sheet. I've built most of the second kopta, I intend to make three more and I'll try and make them according to the pictures of the deff koptas in the codex. And you can see a pic of duckie with a mock up set of tracks. I don't know if I'll continue, but we'll see.
And a previous "kopta" with a shortened base, coz it kept falling over.

i like the stompa but one of the things i was liking about the original picture was that low slung bucket "jaw" - i see you added top teeth and weapon rig to the bottom but is there room for that jutting jaw? I think that was the orkiest thing about the original model.
kopta's look much better without the guns but the guns were great -- hope you can use them elsewhere.

Yeah I liked that too but couldn't make it work happily enough for me
Well, here's a small update, I got this early for my birthday (which is tomorrow) - what can I say - my brother rocks! And to prove that he came third in an air guitar comp...half cut...that's another story:
And here is the truck, which I LOVE by the way. This is another awesome model that GW has brought out in recent time and I wasn't even going to modify it, except that I don't like the front they provide standard and I wanted it to be equipped with a rokkit and I was gonna make a big snippy arm instead of the chain ball but the chain ball looked cooler than the arm I started making so I kept it....
Close up of the rocket assembly - it's a bit oversized but that's really orky!
One thing I've thought of that would be AWESOME is to cut the trukk in half between the back set of wheels and convert it into a war buggy. That would look sweet. Now to get more of the new trukks...cheaply...

Ok, well. I've been getting a bit bored and simultaneously overwhelmed with this army because I have been adding and adding and adding to it without getting much painted! And then I go and start doing something else! Damnit!!!!
So here's what's been happening the last couple months - work more on orks, start designing template bits for the walking baneblade, start painting some (boring as) praetorian guard, enter a painting competition (which is the only thing I've truly finished lately btw!), start a new stompa and begin a new regimen of speed technique training of about 2hrs a day for guitar. So as you could imagine I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed - lol.
ANYHOO! Here's some progress on this army I am sure you'll like to look at, first of all I'll show the pics of the deff koptas with buzzsaws that I've riveted, based and finished off:
And now, I've started work on a new stompa because someone really inspired me with one of theirs over on CMoN which I won't show a pic of here for the sake of space. But what has happened is after I got the basic design for the legs done (no extra gubbins yet) I looked at the iron duck chassis that I've put to the side for the moment and had a thought. Have a look at the pics, let me know what you think and whether you guys reckon it will work. I like. I hate. I like again. So I need some feedback to assist me.
Honestly, I'm of half a mind to build another stompa similar to the steam stompa I originally did, but a little taller and more in line with the proper ork stompa rules (proper guns and stuff). So to begin either one, I've at least got the legs done...
More pics, less talk:
Leg progress - I realise that middle bit is a bit weedy, and I intend to buff that up some...
And here we have the "Squighound" pattern stompa - or if you prefer - Da Big Mecha Squiggoth-bot Stompa.

Oh, may I be the first to say that thing is awesome, very awesome, its like killer pac-man... the left leg looks abit flimsy, but im sure you'll beef it up, also another suggestion may I make is to make the gun bigger, It looks weedy in comparison with the bulky body... heres to give you an idea, you dont have to go with it, but It gives you a basic idea: also a third toe add alot more balance to the whole model, and a gob and a face would be nice... cheers!

I have been doing the same exact thing for years. Lemmingspawn! My long lost twin brother! We must have been seperated at birth. I am also stealing the look of your "deff copters" idea
