Hey guys.
I collected warhammer a few years ago, back with the 3rd edition chaos I think. A 1500 point army of night lords. I never really played, so I know very few tactics/rules.

Taking a radical change from chaos I want to collect a witchhunter/space marine force.
I would like for players to pick and problems with the force fluff wise (like would dark angles work with SOB) And suggest improvments to bring a current 1000 point list up to 1500 which sitll being fluffy and tactically... Acceptable.

HQ

Inq Lord and retinue 175 pts
Inquisitor lord w/ bolt pistol, power weapon, bionics
Acolyte w/ power weapon, shotgun
Combat Servitor
Crusader
IG Vet w/ Flamer, frag, krak, targeter
Familiar
Chirurgeon
Chirurgeon

Elite

Inquisitor and retinue 129 pts
Inquisitor w/ bolter
Sage
Sage
Gun Servitor w/ plasma cannon
Ig Vet w/ Plasma gun, frag, krak, targeter
Ig Vet w/ Hellgun, frag, krak, targeter
Chirurgeon

Troops

Space Marine Tactical Squad (dark angles) 218
Sergeant w/ frag grenades, plasma pistol, bolter, terminator honours, iron halo
8 x Space Marine w/ frag grenade, bolter
Space Marine w/ frag grenade, plasma gun

Inquisitorial Storm Troopers 170
8 x Storm Trooper w/ frag grenades, hellgun (targeter)
2 x Storm Trooper w/ frag grenades, Grenade Launcher
1 x Rhino w/ Storm Bolter

SM Scouts 90
Sergeant w/ sniper rifle
4 x Scout w/ Sniper rifle

Heavy Support

Predator 140
Predator Destructor w/ autocannon, heavy bolter sponsons, power of the machine spirit

Dreadnought 105
Dreadnought w/ assault cannon, powerfist (storm bolter)

All that totals to about 1000, I was aiming for 1500... Also some fast attack in the form of sisters of battle... Thats where I ahve a problem with fluff.

Basic story. Warlord rises on one of the dark angles recruitment worlds. Inquisitor heads to check out if its chaotic influence, Dark angles believe its one of the fallen so dispatch a small force. Inquisitor groups with tactical squad and support to investigate.
The reason for my tactical squad being so horribly upgraded is I think space marines should be expensive and elite.

Now heres some problems:

Would SOB (hoping to add) work well it dark angles. Would they even be required for such a simple job? If not what could I use for a fast attack/close combat.

Would the Dark Angles supply 1 tactical squad, 5 scouts, a predator and a dreadnought. If it was fallen woudl they give more forces. If it was a simple warlord would they just supply the tactical squad and the scouts?

I used that interactive army maker for this so some things might be messed up... The SM sarge haivng a plasma pistol and a bolter but no close combat weapon?
Can somebody merticuloud look over this and supply insights for fluff and rules?

Thanks for your time :P

IIRC your list doesn't work;

to use scouts and your chosen heavy support, you'd require a Dark angel HQ choice and then your SOBs/Inq choices would count as an allied contingent.

If you wanted to use an Inq Hq choice, you'd still require 2 Inq troops choices, and so far you only have one... after that, your dark angels would be counted as 'indentured' marines, and you'd also be restricted as to what units you could choose...

...being too idle to go downstairs and grab the codex, I'm just going to say i'm pretty sure that means no dreadnaught, and no scouts.

basically the rule of thumb for allies is always take your standard 1hq and 2 troops from your first codex, then help yourself to what you need from the other 'dex.

fluffwise though, I'm going to say no; the dark angels are one of the most untrusting and secretive chapters, and when you add 'the fallen' to the mix, they don't want anybody knowing about that....even the Inquisition.

There are two modes of thought; mine and the wrong way.

Thanks for the help biggrin.gif

So your saying that I could have 2 troop choices and an inquistor hq choice, then just a squad of marines? I never understood all of that army mixing stuff with the inquisition :P

As for this fluff...
I was thiking, maybe the dark angles were in the area hunting a rumour of fallen get a message from an inquisitor requesting help to take down a warlord.
That would help explain the dark angles presence in the system as opposed to just moping round caladan :P Also allow me to join inquisitors and dark angles tongue.gif Guys? :P

Anyone got any ideas for fast attack? I never liked the idea of needing a priest for arco flagients so never bothered :/

Also the SOBs how would they mingle with dark angles?

EDIT: Thanks again for your help biggrin.gif It really mans alot when people help others on forums etc. People like you really make a community smile.gif
