If you have any infantry could you tell us how you painted them?
It would help for how to paint your tanks.

Yeah, you can. Stormtroopers as Elites and Armored Fists as Fast Attack (As of 04' Chapter Approved). Or did you mean in YOUR company. Sorry if that was rude.

You could use grey-camo or a white/black-camo

Hrm, standard city fight ends up being blue greys and whites... to be honest, it's too standard... BUT i'd say what city are you fighting in?

i see tau cities are usualy in like white... what if the city was in reds? mybe some muted reds and dark browns... or dark grey...

I think i would (if i were you) go outside, take a walk down the block... now look at the colors you have in your city... are your buildings colored all sorts of pastels lie Edward siscorhands? all cement like downtown LA? what would you see hide there (or whatever city you chose)...

My city would be light colors, but probably no greys... it's a beach town, lots of color here...

My cityfight tanks are as follows...

undercaot/primer in black

basecoat in shadow grey

details in boltgun metal and gold

black wash all over

drybrush fortress grey (extremely light, for edge definition and dusty look)

lens in graduated red/orange

transfers

purity seal

I will have some new additions later this week prolly. The grass on the bases is to show the cities gradually becoming overgrown, I will try to get some of the terrain shots as well. Hope you like.

You could go for normal camo.

Your tanks probably came from outside of the city, attacking the defenders (or arraving to support them). And even if they were stationed there, their primary task would be to stop attacks before they reached the city, so either way I'd go for an open country scheme.

There were many camoflague schemes used by the germans. Afterall they were the first to study such things. The most common were.
Panzer grey- how the war started out, not too up to speed on which units maintained it throughout the war.
Ambush- the purpley green scheme with all the little dots. Looks too much like a party favor for my tastes.
White- hastily applyed for the russian front
Tan - hastilly aplied for the africa campaign
Subdued stripes- what I call the accepted norm for "camo" much like what our friend panzergraf uses.

Have you seen my tanks. They are of varying city flavors but I don't want to parade them around again if you already have. And I'm lazy. ninja.gif

Do not try to use it in the open field, though laugh.gif

I belive that those types of camo patterns were called "Dazzle".

QUOTE (Panzergraf @ Mar 15 2006, 06:40 PM)
Your tanks probably came from outside of the city

P-Graf has a very good point - the urban combat environment is, if all the militaria I've read is to be believed, is the worst environment to fight in. Even more so for tanks as small infiltrating anti-tank units have a better chance to get into striking distance of armoured vehicles.

If we're considering camoflage for tanks then we have to remember that most of the time the tank will give itself away with the sound of engine or cannon fire. The camo on tanks is primarily designed (like warships of the WWII era) to break up their silhouette in an effort to be avoided by long range strikes by enemy armour.

This said hull down and hiding in city-fighting is helped by a broken grey (or the predominent local native colour) colour scheme.

The long and the short of it is - What sort of cityfight look are you going for?

Remember during WWII the 'winter camo' effect was usually achieved using white-wash which was then scrubbed off or painted over in spring.

Best to go with the look that you like the most! biggrin.gif

Oh oh, I know a good way to make cityfight camo! Model all of your vehicles like buildings! They'll get so confused that it'll be crazy!

Purple and Green?

Barney has an army?

Yikes.

The British Army of the Rhine "Dazzle Scheme", mentioned previously, was clever. It was required that EVERY tank be painted exactly the same way. They knew the Russians, or East Germans, would be photographing the tanks, and trying to spot differences in the paint jobs to try and determine how many tanks the Brits HAD in their sector of West Berlin. By making them EXACTLY the same, to the point of measuring to make sure all the lines were the same, they hoped to deprive them of this count.
